The salon was clean/bright/stylishly decorated. When I arrived, the two women working there were pretty nice. They asked if I wanted to drink anything. The person who cut my hair was again, pretty nice. She chatted with me and shared about her life. I found her very approachable/personable and enjoyed sitting in her chair. Every time she took a break from cutting, she cleaned up the floors. I appreciated the cleanliness of the salon. My critique was that I felt my hair was cut uneven. Every time I ponytail my hair, one side has a couple of strand (that is not my bangs) fall so it is an uneven ponytail. The right side of my hair is cut shorter than my left. The layering is badly done where there are long strands and short strands that look like some inexperienced person just randomly cut parts of my hair. I didn't notice it until I left. Another issue was that the lady suggested that I cut my hair shorter than I initially wanted. Although this is more my fault than her's, I was persuaded to cut my hair above my shoulders when I originally just wanted it below my shoulders. She told me that it would be cuter and would be more prone to flip in. I know it is more my fault that I caved and listened but I wish she just went with the picture I showed her. Now my hair is way shorter than I intended. Overall, I'm mostly annoyed that my hair was unevenly cut. It looks awful whenever I low ponytail my hair. It looks terrible that a chunk of my right hair falls out of the pony whereas the left stays in place. It makes me look sloppy. Now that I've had my haircut for more than two weeks, I get more annoyed with it day after day. Looking at the hair, I'm dissatisfied. It also irritates me because it falls out. It feels uncomfortable. This is probably one of the worst hair cuts I've ever had. read more

I have been beyond satisfied with Ashle and the rest of the glorious ladies at The Platine Salon. If you love your hair, stay away from Ashle and Platine Salon! Somehow, even after clarifying that I wanted my bangs to frame my face, never shorter than my cheekbones, I walk out of the salon with straight across UNWANTED FOREHEAD BANGS ending at my eyebrows? When I commented on how much shorter they were than I wanted, I kid you not, her response was: "Oh, well, at least they'll grow back in 3 days anyway right?" Of course after the bangs fiasco, Ashle didn't bother to ask what I thought of the rest of my cut before moving straight onto drying and styling, during which she repeatedly tugged roughly and painfully on my hair and scalded my scalp with the hair dryer, all while complaining about her carpal tunnel to the neighboring stylist. I absolutely LOVE this salon and always tell my friends to go see Ashle. Ashle does the BEST balayage job I've ever had. I've lived in Seattle for 4 years and have shopped around to find the right salon. I can honestly say, Ashle is the one! Not only does her balayage always blend so perfectly, but she gets the color I'm exactly looking for. I've also had the best haircut of my life with her... I typically have long hair and always just do trims, but decided to cut 5 inches off one time. I was very nervous, but it was absolutely amazing! It was fresh, made me look more sophisticated and easy to maintain. I get compliments on my cut/color all the time and it's all thanks to Ashle! I'm never one to write Yelp reviews, but I had to say something because I had a particularly bad experience here. I got a hair cut with Jessica and it was one of the worst hair cut's I've ever had. I chopped off over 6 inches of hair and was clear that I wanted layers, but the cut was very blunt with no texture/layers. I dislike any way I wear the cut-- I have maybe worn my hair down a couple of times at most. When I wear my hair in a ponytail, the ponytail looks choppy, blunt, and terrible. The length is awkward and growing out poorly. When I got the cut, I'd also asked Jessica to cut my bangs. With most hair stylists, they know how to cut bangs with just some guidance-- but can be left alone to know how to frame the client's face, etc. But she seemed to be really lost on how to do it without me specifically guiding her step by step, which isn't my job-- it's hers as the stylist. After the hair cut, I told the concierge that I was unhappy about it and she invited me to come back and get it fixed with the senior stylist. I told her that I'd come back in a few weeks and give it some time to grow out. When it still looked terrible, if not worse when it grew out, I called the place and tried to reschedule with the concierge. I work nights and it's difficult for me to schedule in time to come, and with the holidays being busy, I asked if it might be possible to come in after the holidays, in January (I was going to be out of town for 10 days). She told me I couldn't because it'd be too far from the date of the cut (mid-November). But I literally had no other time to come in due to working nights and then being out of town. I found them to eventually be unresponsive and unhelpful during this time. They suggested I get a refund from Groupon, so I did just that. The staff was nice and tried to be helpful, but the cut was just really bad and very disappointing to get 6 inches off to have it look blunt, with no layers, and no texture. I don't want to speak ill of anyone, but I didn't trust the skills of this stylist and would not recommend her to anyone I know. I realize it's worth the money to go to someone you trust. read more

Ashly was great to talk with me. She helped me to pick the right shade of blonde. My hair took two visits to get the blonde color I wanted because my hair is naturally dark. I don't usually write yelp reviews but I could not resist. My haircut was so bad, I just had to speak up. I went in because I got a groupon. I have never been to the platine before so I did not know what I was really getting into, and the stylist didn't know my taste. So, that in and of itself could be the issue here. First off, i'm going to leave the hair dresser anonymous because She was really nice, and If she were someone I met outside of the salon, i'm sure we would be great friends! But lets face it, she mangled my hair! I asked for a specific cut, one that I showed a very detailed picture of so she could grasp the idea. When she reassured me, saying she knew what I was going for, I felt at ease. 2 hours later, she took off 3 inches, layered ONLY the very bottom of my hair. When I asked her to do all over layers, it was like she only saw tunnel vision, and kept layering the ends of my hair. I was mortified and $65 poorer. It was not at all what I wanted, or what I explained and showed her. It was like she didn't even listen. I walked out in such a hurry, it made it kind of awkward. When I came home, the way she cut my hair did not flatter my natural curls, which is what I wanted and told her. In fact, it made my hair much more difficult that It frizzed out at the bottom like a 40 yr old business woman from 1995. Later, I went on their website to check out pictures and I saw that all of the woman that were posted had the exact same haircut! I was blown away. As a hairstylist, it is your job to keep up with current hair trends, so that If someone comes to you for a request like that, you don't have to hesitate. All in all I ended up spending and extra $80 at Gene Juarez where they fixed my hair perfect. I will never go to platine salon again. read more

This is LONG overdue, but I am still thinking about it so I thought I leave a review to prevent anyone else from making the same mistake I did. I can not emphasize enough how awful this experience was. This was the absolute worst hair experience of my life. I went in and saw Ashlee to get my hair colored and to get balayage. I have medium brown hair, never before dyed, and simply wanted to cover the gray and get balayage. I was very specific that i wanted it to look natural and sun kissed. Ashlee dyed my entire head orange. No highlights anywhere, just bright orange hair. It wasn't until I got home that I realized what had happened to my head! I immediately called to get it fixed and had to wait 4 days. When i arrived Ashlee acted as though there was nothing wrong and that I was just being difficult. As she attempted to fix my hair I asked if I could see a range of browns to choose from and she clearly stated they had only one brown dye, and said this as if I were a moron. Needless to say the "brown" barely covered the orange and I had to go to another salon the next day to get it fixed. My hair was completely fried for months after. The only positive thing I have to say is that they reimbursed me promptly, all $300. read more

The first time I went to the salon, it was fine. I had a scheduled root touch up with Toni. The second time I went to the salon, Toni was on vacation and they scheduled me with another person. She never showed up for the appointment. Luckily, Ashle was kind enough to at least do my roots for me in between her own clients. The last, and final time I went, I arrived expecting that I was going to be working with Toni. I was told that Toni was no longer with the salon (never received a call) and they scheduled me with the person that didn't show up last time.
