I did know that we would be playing corn hole, but did not know we would be playing inside. What a pleasant surprise! You walk in the side door as if you were going into the service department of any garage, and you see this very large open space. I saw a bunch of corn hole set ups, the coolest benches that were reminiscent of all time car back seats. In one corner of the bar was a small area for ax throwing. There were random arcade games in different spots of the bar, and there were TVs around the place as well. The TVs were in the front grill area of a car mounted on the walls! It was pretty quiet the night I went, and I didn't see any waitress, but there was a walk up bar where you could order beers sodas and seltzer's. On the other side of the bar was a pizza place, which is brilliant if you asked me! We were able to bring in our own food and reserve a table, but I imagine when it gets busy that might be harder to do. I had a really great time at the truck bar and I look forward to going again, and again! I have one suggestion for the business owners. They might wanna consider better lighting at the street to indicate where this place is. I was there in the evening and took a guess as to where to turn up their driveway and got lucky.

If you go during the daytime you'll notice what a beautiful setting this is. Old Trucks are displayed outside the property, and they're such a sight to see. Be prepared to have a great time once you're here, you might learn a new skill, such as the craft of ax throwing. The trained staff will teach you on how this is done correctly and safely. My favorite is the corn hole. You can play this until your arms get sore, and there is no cost. Enjoy viewing and hanging out in the Harry Potter room, it's great for pictures and the perfect space for a party for a loyal Harry Potter fan. The arcade games are plentiful and a good variety. Square Peg Pizza is on the premises and my favorite of theirs is the Figgy Piggy, so delicious. You'll enjoy a wide variety of local beers and ciders here too. It's a great place to try something new. You're sure to have a great time here, for a celebration or a relaxing evening after work. The Truck Bar is decorated with fun gas station memorabilia, so much character and so much to see. I highly recommend spending an evening of fun here!

I was genuinely excited about participating in the Holiday Market at Sonny's Place. I toured the grounds with one of their ambassadors, discussed my accessibility needs, and was told they'd help me secure a comfortable setup. I even took the time to alert their team about scam posts on Facebook from people pretending to collect vendor fees--trying to protect their community. Instead of being met with professionalism or gratitude, I was removed as a vendor without explanation. No courtesy call, no clarity, nothing but dismissive behavior from Mackenzie, the person handling vendor relations. After everything I shared and the effort I put in, her response made it clear how poorly these events are managed. To make matters worse, the building itself is not ADA accessible, which violates the basic principles of ADA Title III. As a full-time wheelchair user, that alone speaks volumes. Equal access should never be an afterthought. I came in with good faith, ready to create something beautiful for families and children. Instead, I left disappointed, stressed, and honestly shocked at how little care was given to accessibility or communication. Vendors--especially those of us in the disability community--should think twice before signing up. Avoid the headache and the heartache. You deserve better than this.

The two decided to open their own pinball arcade when they realized that there was barely anywhere to play pinball in Connecticut. Swain and Boschert's goal wasn't just to open a place for recreational pinball gameplay, but also competitive pinball gameplay. Located on the second floor of an old factory building, The Sanctum is run in collaboration with the International Flipper Pinball Association. The name of the arcade is a reference to "entering the Sanctum", a feature on "The Shadow": a pinball machine adaptation of the 1994 film of the same name. The Sanctum is open every Monday night from 7PM to Midnight. It frequently hosts local leagues like the Connecticut, Rhode Island Pinball League (or "CRAP") who train to compete in regional and divisional pinball tournaments. However, customers don't need to be competitive players to gain entry. The Sanctum is open to all players (whether competitive or recreational) regardless of their age or gender. A $20 donation grants guests unlimited freeplay for the entire evening. Although food and beverages aren't served, guests may bring their own. I recently visited The Sanctum during one of their Monday night open houses. From the exterior of the old factory building, it's not obvious at all that there's a pinball arcade inside. After walking up the stairwell, and down a long winding hallway, I finally made my way to the entrance. I arrived shortly after they opened for the evening, and I felt like I was entering some sort of secret pinball speakeasy. I paid the $20 donation fee and began to explore The Sanctum's 50 machines. I was told that the machines get rotated out regularly. There was a good balance of new machines as well as classic ones. A lot of people were there to train for tournaments, but I was only interested in some old fashioned pinball fun. I had a blast! I ended up staying for almost the entire night and I probably tried just about every machine there. Some of my favorites included "Rush", "Alien", "Pulp Fiction", "The Shadow", "King Kong: Myth of Terror Island", "Godzilla" and "Evil Dead". This place is a pinball paradise and I can't wait to return! If you're a serious fan of pinball, then you need to go to the Sanctum!
