While I had taken several Pilates classes before, I had not used a Pilates reformer until first visiting Embody Pilates & Wellness in 2018 - I might have been the only one in my first class who had zero reformer experience. Instructing a class with a wide variety of experience can be challenging, but Kristy and Jodie do it with ease and seamlessly offer modifications to make each portion of the class accessible to anyone. I try to go to all the classes she teaches because not only is she kicking my butt and making me the strongest I've ever been, there's just something about her that is so soothing to my brain. She's always excited to see you and she is so encouraging during the workout. It will be the toughest workout but somehow she makes it not seem so bad. It helps that she is either doing the entire workout with you or demonstrating so you know exactly what to do. I can't sing her praises enough! Definitely go to her if you're new to barre (or a pro at barre!). I use the "mind body" app to schedule all my classes (or just go to their website).

And when I attended classes recently I appreciated the welcoming energy of staff and pretty clean environment. But now, in 2026, I see there is room for improvement to maintain a high quality work experience and environment. First, a proper balance between music and instructor voice must be struck so that the participants can hear the instructor clearly (and not muffled) while engaging in an immersive sound experience. I find it concerning that my watch informs me that being in the room for more than 30 minutes can greatly increase risk of hearing loss. I think the soundscape can be restructured to be surrounding without overwhelming. Furthermore, I noticed a significant change in post-class atmosphere. Staff are friendly, but the bathrooms have significantly less hygiene products and this Solidcore doesn't have any showers. Given that this one of the most expensive $ to class ratio in the Baltimore area, I think participants would appreciate their class price or membership price utilized for amenities like a shower or more hygiene products in the bathrooms. I hope to attend a solidcore class soon again with hope of an improved immersive experience and high quality class.

I normally go to slt in NYC (which is phenomenal) but have been very curious about sculpt. I went this am and while one class is hardly the means for a rating, I found the studio meh as far as megaformer workouts. Don't get me wrong. This workout is difficult and not geared towards beginnings. The straps, balancing and movements cause one to need a few times to get the gist of it. Add on to the general difficulty! So why 3 stars for sculpt. Playlist and drill sergeant like instruction made the class not fun. She counted 20-19-18.... more repeatedly. Grrrr. I found myself repeated looking at the clock which is something I rarely do. In addition, music was circa 1980s and definitely a feed issue to the stereo because there was a scratchy sound for parts of the class. Moves and corrections were generally very good, however. As I've mentioned with other specialty classes it's the instructor that makes all the difference. I'm super spoiled I live in NYC and fortunately a couple of my favorite folks are not only at the tops in their field, some have even developed cult status (so says allure magazine). Best practices equal always a fresh playlist (I've never heard the same list twice for my favorites), good choreography, energy and corrections. So for $35 a class, I'd hope that I get just that. Otherwise I could go to the free classes at my gym. I think solid core which I rate 4.5 stars is better on instruction and energy, music also could be improved. 3 stars bc any megaformer class is a minimum of ok, but the extra factor is instruction and music.

Using Class Pass, this was my first time ever taking a reformer class so I chose the Reformer Flow I because I wasn't sure how it would go. The instructor definitely helped me figure out the equipment and adjusted my form during the class. I felt like I got a good stretch but it wasn't too much of a workout. I guess next time I would have to choose a more challenging class, so just a heads up if you are already quite active at baseline. At least for the class I took, it was calm and low impact, which can be great for active recovery. Also this studio is great for COVID since the reformers are spaced out and there are few people/class.

The space is clean and bright and Zina is very welcoming, as are most of the teachers. I would say that compared to the other circus studios I've practiced at, this is geared more towards beginners. If you're used to climbing 12' in the air and doing drops, these classes may seem a little easy, but if you're just getting into fitness or if you have mobility issues, Zina can help you find a class that suits your needs. I especially recommend the bungee classes. They are super fun and an intense cardio workout. It takes a few classes for the harness to feel less pinchy, so stick with it.

I appreciate the attention the instructors provide to ensure I am doing the exercises safely. Stephanie, the owner, has been a tremendous help to me with understanding challenges I face with a bad hip. Her expertise and medical background have helped me select exercises that are appropriate for me and I have learned there are still plenty of things that I can do to strengthen my body. I look forward to meeting with the instructors and attendees every week and miss class when I can't attend. I didn't know what pilates was years ago and can't imagine not doing it now!
