Course: Pretty nice course, very hilly with challenging holes. Management: Some of the worst I have ever seen even for a public course. The tee times are too close together (8min apart). There is no starter on a Saturday afternoon and worse yet, no ranger to keep up the pace of play. It took us a little over 6 hours to play 18 holes...absolutely brutal. Overall: I would look at other courses in the area, you would expect more from an Arnold Palmer course, but it looks like they care about the name on the website more than the course and players.

If you are a very serious golfer, it's probably not for you. If you're an average golfer just looking to get out and have some fun on a quick 9-hole course, give it a shot. If you're a bit below average and want less hassle and stress over pace of play.. a good option here. The course yardage itself is fairly short and, as noted above, only 9 holes, but it has some memorable moments and fun approaches. Holes eight and nine are both short Par 3's with significant water hazard potential. Probably the most fun ones. TiP- Bring a couple crappy balls you won't mind losing and maybe keep those ProV1s in the bag for hole 8. The clubhouse has had some improvements since I had last seen it, and now houses the second location for Giovanni's Pizza. The setup gives you a good spot on a deck to have a pint and a slice or two after your round (or before) while watching others tee off on the first hole. You can sit inside instead as well. Parking isn't always great, so car pool if possible.

However, winter golf in Connecticut is hard to find and it's too cold out for me. An online search took me to Stinger's in New Britain. It's the most affordable option and has good reviews. Today was my first experience and I really enjoyed it. Frank, the owner, was very helpful and I enjoyed chatting with him about his business and golf in general. If you have never played indoor golf, here are my observations: 1. The distance is pretty accurate. Most of my "good" shots were comparable to what I experienced on the course, as far as distance. 2. Direction may or may not be another story. I will have to wait to judge that and then update this accordingly. I was hooking into the water (and took mulligans) A LOT. 3. Putting is as I expected. I think most people will just try to lag it close enough for a "gimme" or you can select automatic 2-putt. TIP: My putting accuracy improved when I placed the ball in front of the indentation in the floor. 4. I recommend the driving range option for your first hour. It may take you a full hour to get used to swinging indoors and using the tees provided. 5. This is a family-friendly environment. Behave.

It's perfect for beginners. There are often a lot of kids learning on the course as well. Generally, play is pretty quick unless the course is busy (like I said - lot of slow beginners). The fastest I've ever played was 90 minutes when there was no one else playing and the slowest was about 2 hours, 15 minutes when we were behind two slow teams. You can rent a club cart (three wheeled pull cart for your club bag) for only $3. I don't think they have golf carts, but you don't really need one since the course is so small. It's not the best or most beautiful course, but it is perfect for beginners.

(Those who say it's "easy" probably give themselves Mulligans). And the semi-driving holes are 214 and 220 year par-threes. (Those who say it's "easy" probably avoid the back tee spots). ....
