The Phoenix Brewing Co. is a brewery that I did not have on my list to try but with the fiery bird representing so noticeablely on the front and my fondness for the creature making this a stop for a beer and a possible swag purchase opportunity was to great to resist. The beer that Steve and I had was the Red Band which is a lager which I enjoy the majority of the time. Flavors to find with hopefully fun involved are malty, sweet (a natural sweetness probably from the flaked corn involved), hoppy, crisp and clean in the finish. 06/03/2023 Great bar! It's a go to place every time I go to Mansfield. The bartenders can pick a beer for you that fits your palate. Have only had snacks there so don't have any say about the food. I really loved this brewery located in Mansfield downtown, they have an amazing set up inside and a really nice patio outside. Bartenders are great, One thing that surprises me is that they do not accept tips, if you decide to tip they use the tip money to donate it (I forgot to who they donate the money for). Great brewery! The beer is tasty, the service is friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was cool (in a historic downtown building with exposed brick, and nicely decorated). If you're in Mansfield go to this brewery. It's one of the more unique concepts. This is located in an old funeral home. It still doesn't feel creepy. The atmosphere is open and relaxed. I had the Redemption IPA. It's about $5 for a pint. This was hoppy but not bitter like many of this variety. It has a pretty long list of house beers. These seem to be on the heavier side of alcohol content, so be sure you know what you're getting. It has a few options besides just beer. There's usually a food truck during the week some time. It's a good reuse of an old building. It's a great addition to the city. They needed more to do around here. read more

I get annoyed when players keep cranking up the sound when it is obvious people are there to drink and talk. Maybe the venue needs to review this with the people they bring in for live music...it is ok for background music...not a "show". People smoke outside. Doors were open and the smoke blew indoors. Food is available from food trucks or from delivery orders. We ordered pizza and salads from Besta Fasta Pizza. YUM! Salad was huge and came with 2 hot breadsticks! Pizza was delish! Only brewery located in Mansfield. Unique location as it's an old building that once was a funeral parlor from the early 1900s. The beer flights are served on wood slats shaped like coffins. The beer is pretty good, short on good IPAs but they have a wide menu of beer libations to choose from. You will feel welcome if you are a local or not. Great little band shell just outside in parking area with live music on weekends compliments of the city of Mansfield. What an awesome brewery! We had been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got to Mansfield to try it. The atmosphere was so inviting, the building was gorgeous with all the old wood and brick and the nod to the old mortuary was neat! The staff was super friendly and attentive. The beer was excellent. You have to try the embalming fluid IPA! So good! There were so many I wanted to try but we had an hour drive home so that wasn't happening this trip! We will be back, though. read more

Visited this brewery in Mansfield, about an hour away from Cleveland. While famously known for its reformatory that was used in filming Shawshank Redemption, Phoenix Brewing reveals there is another reason to visit Mansfield - great beer. The atmosphere inside is very laid back and feels like a dive bar in a good way. The clientele is diverse but all seem to be regulars that know each other and the bar staff quite well. For people to keep returning, you know the beer is going to be good. I ordered a flight and chose 4 of their 15+ unique draft offerings to try. The 14.5% metamorphus stout was a chocolaty serum that coated my palette with thick, luxurious flavor. It was a standout of the flight although the chai porter was also quite delicious. It rained when I visted, but I would like return on a sunny day. They have food trucks setup outside in the parking lot as well as a stage for bands. I was told that on Fridays in the summer they have bands and people bring lawn chairs and listen while sipping on some brews. All music sounds good on 14.5% beer! read more

This is my go-to for an evening out. This pleasant location has it all (but food). The exposed brick interior is warm and inviting. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beers are, of course, the stars. Try a flight of beers (served whimsically in a coffin shaped box... a callback to the building's history as a coffin factory). My recommendation is to go with a standard like John Doe and Ferryman, and then add the seasonal brews to the flight (Toe Tag is my favorite). They helpfully included detailed descriptions and the IBU ratings, or the International Bittering Unit ratings, which will tell you how sweet (low numbers) or how bitter (high) the beer is. I mentioned there really isn't food per se, but when the weather is nice on the weekends and Thursday you can almost always find a quality food truck parked in their lot and you can bring the food in. One teensy problem is that it can be crowded, especially when the weather is bad and on the weekends. If you can go on a warm summer night there are outdoor seating options that are on one of two patios. read more

I've been here a couple times, as it's the halfway meetup point with our family. We've gone primarily on Sunday afternoons & it's got a decent crowd, but never too busy. They have a good selection of craft beers & other drinks, although like most breweries, heavy on the hoppy beers, which is typically not my favorite. I still have always found a beer I like though! They don't have food to order there- just chips & some pizza, but every time weve gone they have a great food truck- truckin trav- in the parking lot. Order at the truck & they'll bring food in to the brewery, which is super nice to not have to wait outside for it..The chicken bowl is great, along with the friess! They also had spicy fried cauliflower before which was awesome. Staff are friendly & it's definitely a great casual spot to hangout with friends or family & catch up! read more
