They have plenty of parking and the string of lights outside was cute. I asked the waitress TWO times whether the sweet potato fries for the sandwich entree was extra and she confirmed TWICE that it was not an extra cost. Welp, upon paying, guess what? It was $4 extra! Just look at my picture to see that like 12 skinny AF fries are NOT worth the extra charge! Their house chips were great. I ordered the brie & jam sandwich and it was filling and delicious. I also ordered a crispy chicken salad and was pretty disappointed at the quality. I abhor cheese shavings on salad (they don't belong on salads!) and there was just mounds of very processed looking cheese. There was not enough chicken pieces for the price, too many croutons, no onion or enough tomato; just cheap lettuce. They don't serve regular glasses of water here. It was all crushed ice! We suspected they were just pre-wine slushies! This was really odd. There's not real wait service but since we sat upstairs, people needed to bring stuff up so I did tip a usual amount. I wanted to experience more of a country, made from scratch type of setting so was not too happy with the very Chilis/Applebee quality and presentation of their food.

When I arrived, they were out of nearly a dozen wines--never a good start at a winery. Service felt impersonal and cafeteria-style: you circle your selections, and that's about it. There was little to no description or engagement about the wines themselves, which all tasted fairly ordinary and forgettable. Adding to the disappointment, the main entrance featured a strip of fly tape covered in dead flies--something I've never encountered at a food or drink establishment, and frankly, not the best first impression. There's definite potential here, but at the moment, the experience feels unpolished and uninspired. I genuinely hope they improve, but for now, I can't recommend a visit.

My flight included two wines (an Italian red and an Ohio white) and two ciders (one with a bit of blood red orange). All very enjoyable; I ordered the wines though I typically prefer ciders! Craig the owner provided interesting insights about the property and juice sourcing. And the facility is beautiful! During our visit, a rain storm rolled through...very relaxing to hear the rain on the metal roof! Hidden local treasure! (And I am no wine connoisseur, either.)

It's in an old barn that's been updated but still holds its rustic charm. There's plenty of seating inside and out. There's a stage outback where you can hear some local talent if you're lucky. Most of our group chose 4-6 wines to try so our table looked a bit crazy with all the glasses. The one downside was that the employee who helped us was relatively new and had us do our tastings from sweet to dry, instead of dry to sweet. She did say that she was trained this way but it threw me off. Luckily, the owner came in and we were able to ask some questions. When I questioned the thought process of going from sweet to dry - he quickly corrected our remaining samples and made a note to do some retraining. I enjoyed that this was a family owned winery. Even the kids were studying subjects in college to allow them to be part of the business as well. I loved the theme of time. Our group ended up leaving with several bottles and I would definitely recommend this winery to others.

They do have food trucks at times. Still, a couple more food choices wood be nice. Maybe some different chips and dips, veggie trays or flatbreads. The owner, Brittni, features local artists work as well as her own inside the winery and for an awesome twist on branding, she's labeled each wine selection with her own artwork and named each wine after one of her paintings. The charcuterie boards are delicious and sourced from other local small businesses and the owner regularly has amazing food truck vendors featured at her location. If that's not enough for you, the owner has incorporated all sorts of fun classes and workshops within her business model such as paint and sip, making candela out of old wine bottles, yoga and exercise classes, and monthly bingo as well as ensuring she has local musicians regularly booked on the weekends. I suggest checking out her website for future events, I know I keep my eye on what she's got going on. And I couldn't possibly forget to mention her sweet pup Jax that's often scouring the floor for snacks or snoozing in the corner. The service is amazing, the wine is to die for, the ambiance is spectacular, and it's clear that Brittni has poured her heart and soul into Cote Winery, quite literally.
