The owner greeted us upon arrival and asked if it was our first time visiting and recommended some items on the menu to try. This place is full of flavor and happy people. The owner is an all around friendly person who takes the time to come out to greet people with a warm smile (I've been here 3 times and all times he always has a smile on his face) and makes sure you like your food, cracks a joke and just makes you feel like family. Ive been here a ton. Been following Dennis since downtown Dallas. It's not a five star restaurant but it is what its supposed to be. Cheesesteak is phenomenal and Dennis is great. My only complaint is id like more options for drinks other than soda and water. Sometimes they have their own coconut tions but not today. Gatorade or lemonade would be great. This place was on the bucket list for local places to eat and it did not disappoint. My daughter and I got there before the rush. Ordered a chicken Philly and a Beef Philly got some beef egg rolls. This is going to be a difficult review because the food was good but the experience was odd, for lack of a better word. I and a couple of buddy's had heard about the philly's here and although we don't live close (Cartersville) we decided to give it a shot. The place is located in a small plaza with several non-food type shops at the same location. It's a small cafe type eatery where you order at the counter, which is great. Where it wasn't so great is the owner/manager is sitting at a table next to the register with his family (?) and eyeballs and listens to everyone that comes in; while this could be a good thing it turned out to be rather weird and kind of (not exactly sure how to say this)...stifling, uncomfortable, aggravating (?) because if you mentioned anything about the food or atmosphere or anything he would pipe up and talk over everyone to speak to whoever was talking. We are a group of 3 guys and not expecting this. It was definitely something that got us all defensive and immediately almost aggressive and wanting to tell him to stop talking to us, as he was literally talking over other customers. The place was relatively clean but disorganized and cluttered. The one and ONLY redeeming quality of this place is that the steak Philly was absolutely bada$$! It was upwards in price but for the size and quality it was well worth it to me. Just the right amount of meat bread, cheese, onions and peppers and all blended well and just the perfect amount of moisture to make it a great fresh Philly. The fries were cold and bad but we didn't come for fries. I hate to give this place less than 5 stars and yet I have to because a review is based on all factors. It has been a couple months since we came here and they're still open so I will definitely return and give them another chance...if nothing more than take-out if it seems the service/professionalism inside hasn't changed. Hopefully the manager/owner got some feedback and has adopted a different style. Parking is limited but adequate. The meat was falling out the sandwich a big plus. The flavor was spicy, juicy and delicious. I couldn't eat the whole sandwich, so I wrapped tightly in the thickest aluminum foil they provided, another plus. Two days later I decided to take the other half for lunch to work. They were good. I ordered a chicken Philly bc I don't eat steak. I'm not a fan of American cheese so let me start with that. I think I just went on an off day. My bread was really hard. The chicken needs a little more seasoning and my cheese at the bottom was not melted. So to bite into a thick unmelted piece of cheese was just not the best experience. I read the reviews and heard a lot about this space. I live in Dallas but work ITP so I am not usually in the area for lunch, so it took me a while to have a free Saturday to try them out. They are a bit pricey. We got a classic beef cheesesteak, a pizza cheesesteak, and a "knockout" which was a combination beef and chicken with bacon. The sandwiches were $13 - $15 each and add $5 for fries and a drink. So you are looking at $20 before tip. Looking back I would probably skip the fries. Not that there is anything wrong with them but these sandwiches are huge. But these cheesesteaks are legit. We talked with the owner who is from Philadelphia. He imports his rolls from Philly and had a serious commitment to authentic cheesesteaks. I was skeptical when I saw the prices but they lived up to the hype. My family and I have been to this spot a few times now. A few times we ordered the philly cheesesteaks. It was a regular steak sandwich with NO cheese. Tonight we asked for extra cheese and it seemed like there was barely any cheese on the steak. Though the steak was seasoned good, we were disappointed again with the little cheese. Also, we ordered a Large order of fries. To our surprise when we got home (15 min drive) there was mixed match oiled logged fries. We got anything but a large over. They were stale and hard. I visited this restaurant for the first time a couple of weeks ago. More specifically, two Thursdays ago. I ordered the Thursday special, the Hiram Burger at $10. You get a hamburger with two patties and fries. Which is a great deal if quantity and quality were the same. You get a lot of food, but the taste of this burger was not there. This hamburger lacked seasoning. And I hate to say this but it just wasn't a good burger. All I tasred was the sauce and cheese. I wanted to like it so bad. But could not. Customer service was fine. I'll begin with the positive. The staff was friendly and engaging with some of the customers, they seem very proud of their product. Now, as I approached the entrance of the restaurant I paused and almost turned to leave! First impressions are IMPORTANT. The outside windows and entrance door was filthy with greasy fingerprints and intentional graffiti all over everywhere, it was difficult to determine if they were open or not because you can't see inside the establishment even with large windows facing the parking lot. As I opened the entrance door to step inside the first thing I was overwhelmed with was the walls and floors is painted with black flat paint and graffiti scribbled all over the walls (AGAIN) with cheap white plastic tables and chairs for the customers. The floor was filthy and because of the black flat paint job EVERYTHING on the floor was visible! This place looks like walking into a "Teenaged boy bedroom"! Well, lets get to the food. I ordered of course the Philly Cheesesteak. I'll begin with the positive. It was a 12" sandwich with a generous portion of meat! But, it was DROWNING in salty cheese sauce which in my opinion killed the flavor of the very thing that I wanted to taste - THE BEEF. I also ordered fries, and they tasted like cheap, flavorless fries. As a side order this did nothing to compliment the cheesesteak, so that was a waste but again I was given a very generous amount. Overall, I think if the Philly Steak Spot would CLEAN UP the place and the appearance of it, and not drown the very tasty meat in a salty cheese sauce, invest in better quality products ( French Fries) you might last longer in this business.
