We started slowly with some highlights, and after about two or three sessions, I told her I wanted to go even blonder. She talked me through the process and explained that while she could absolutely get me lighter, her priority was making sure my hair stayed healthy, kept its curl pattern, and didn't get damaged. I wrote it off as a mistake however after my second appointment I realized he's not paying attention and not being honest. I had requested highlights and my roots to be lightened,, he did not bring the foils up to my roots and once again gave me money pieces. I immediately told him that the entire crown was significantly dark and I told him again I was not sure why he added money pieces again. After being there for so many hours I was exhausted mentally and physically. I requested it be corrected after I came back from vacation and he agreed, I contacted him once I returned and no response. The appointment was unprofessional as he talks a lot personal life matters, and does not listen. I would caution other customers. I am now going to have to pay another stylist to fix his work.

Though I adore the personality of my last girl, I felt it was time for a fresh pair of eyes and artistic hands. As expected, I initiated my search on Yelp and friends' recommendations. Theirs were all unfortunately much further. I knew we had many stylists local to me. I found Perla through the Grand yelp page. I saw her photos and felt she could replicate the style I envisioned for myself. Setting up my appointment was fairly easy and she seemed personable via text message. Now it is my duty to report on my entire experience. We had a bit of a setback with our timing. Our time didn't start until nearly 20minutes post schedule, but hey things happen. Moving on. Our time was a pleasant experience. She listened intently to what I wanted and offered suggestions. She educated me on products and what to do and what not to do to create certain looks. She was extremely attentive and knew her craft well. I feel our personalities vibed well too. Like chatting with an old friend. I'm big on the small things. I mean there's a certain expectation from the consumer's point of view when you pay for services--well what stands out is those little steps taken to ensure you're satisfied. Perla definitely did that. She made sure my neck was extra comfortable In the wash bowl (she would fluff the towel beneath me numerous times). she made sure I had plenty of wine to get thru our visit. she gave me an awesome scalp massage! She even hands-on taught me how to curl my hair vs leaving me up shit's creek without a paddle. she comp'd me a treatment to make up for our time conflict earlier. And that really meant something to me -- that she apologized and addressed the issue with me directly and offered to resolve it. Integrity is the word that comes to mind. She even guaranteed her color work by a revision within a certain time frame if I felt it warranted. And the end result--a beautiful cut and color that I truly loved. I am not just a happy camper, I'm a happy camper with really cute hair.

I could start by saying how friendly and professional Perla is and continue by saying how accommodating and knowledgeable about trends and products as well, but for me the most important thing is her raw talent. I'm not sure if having blue hair is a sign of that? Perla's hair is very blue, sometimes. Talented would be the best word to describe her abililities, talent with a T. When I finished medical school, I felt that some of the other physicians that graduated, had it and some of them didn't. It's the exact same thing with the football players that my husband watches, some of them are great and some of them just try too hard. I've been going to Perla to get my hair done for any special event, ever since. One way I can vouch would be to say that I have recommended her to 2 of my friends and recommending something as personal as your hair or make up, particularly for important events, is a potential disaster waiting to happen. However, both of my friends continue to go to her and we are all still friends. crazy right?! I will let the pictures do the talking.
