Bill cared for my cats many times over 9 years, and for two weeks or more at a time. He's always been trustworthy, reliable and done a great job. I get daily "news" updates with a photo or two, which I appreciate greatly when I miss my little pocket panthers. He takes care of any messes (Sorry Bill!), plays with them, and even brings in my mail. He's even provided knowledable advice on healthcare and feeding. I called Bill when my previous pet sitter was unavailable . I must say Bill went above and beyond the call of duty . I have two cats and one of them is 17 y/o and has diabetes. She needs insulin injections twice a day 12 hours apart. I was hesitant to even go on vacation because of this as I know me being away is very rough on her. I normally give her baths once a week because she is a Maine coon and it's hard for her to clean herself properly in her old age because of her larger size and arthritis . Suffice to say I went on vacation anyway. Upon meeting Bill at our meet and greet he showed up on time and took copious notes . Bill showed up to my house on time everyday twice a day for 11 days to give Baretta her injections and clean out both cat bowls, three water bowls and two litter boxes . Handling Baretta was no easy task and most people would not be able to deal with her. She is fine with just me or my partner but with others she acts like a wild beast- hissing, growling, swatting, and resisting as much as she possibly can. She is a strong, stubborn cat . Bill was committed and provided me updates via text and video or her in her beastly state . Bill even had to move a heavy bed and mattress out of the way just to be able to get to her because Baretta had figured out a way to get underneath the bed even though I had barricaded it prior. Bill has a lot of experience with cats and especially feral cats as he mentioned to me so he had an understanding of why Baretta was acting the way she was and never seemed to surprised by her antics . I don't know if I will go on vacations anytime soon because I don't like to leave her by herself but if I do I'm def calling Bill again and I hope he will take my offer . I feel safe leaving my precious princess In Bill's care and I think that's what is most important when finding a pet sitter . Also, Bill's rates are extremely reasonable for the service he provides. We will not be using Bill again. We are forced to leave our cats closed in our (large) master bedroom to protect them from unsupervised encounters with our roommate's dog. We do not like doing this even though our cats have been fine staying locked up for previous trips. In the past we have had a friend check in on them daily, but this time we did not have that luxury. So we decided to hire Bill to check on them and feed them wet food while we were gone for a long weekend. Our usually friendly cats were afraid of Bill during the consultation. We were even more put off by his off-color joke about one of our cats dying from obesity after I explained the specific diet we were following to help that cat lose weight safely. We still decided to give him a chance. We told Bill that if the cats did not want to come out and play with him he should leave them alone and just ensure they had food and functioning water fountains. Despite taking notes during the consultation, Bill seems to have forgotten this instruction. He also forgot that we have a camera running to watch our cats behavior while we were gone. I was not happy to see footage of Bill walking to our bed and then reaching under it to call to our cats who were hiding from him in fear. When we have left them in the past our camera caught footage of our cats playing together, sleeping in their various favorite places, eating more than they should, and getting into plenty of trouble. Bill scared our cats so badly that their behavior entirely changed. One of our cats did not come back out from under the bed for the rest of the time we were gone. The other stayed curled tightly at the top of their cat tree, looking at the door every few minutes in fear. Bill noticed this change in behavior and made a judgmental comment that it was due to their confinement, NOT that they were frightened of him. I would like to reiterate here that we have left our cats in this room in the past, with other caretakers, and their behavior has not changed. Bill's disregard of our instructions and judgmental comments throughout the weekend made the experience of leaving our cats at home more stressful than it has ever been. read more

We asked Bill to come look after our kitty cat while we were abroad for 10 days. We vetted many sitters as we need someone who can give medicine, which our kitty needs daily. What us amateurs consider an ordeal (like pilling a cat) was just part of the eveyday for Bill. I trust Bill with my favorite thing in this world- my cat. Yep, crazy cat lady; but this review isn't about me, its about Bill. He's professional, responsive, kind and attentive. He's checked on my cat, Arthur, a number of times over the past two years. Arthur is very social and if he doesn't have enough attention he pukes and will wait at the door until I get home, walk in and step in it. Then he laughs his silent little cat laugh and rolls over to be petted. When Bill comes by to check on him while I'm away, Arthur barely says hi to me when I return from my trip- he's clearly gotten so much love and attention while I was away that he doesn't notice my absence. What more can I say........Bill is the BEST sitter/walker anyone could ask for! Bill has gone above and beyond all my expectations. He has been taking care of our French Bulldog Norma Jean since May of 2013. Everyday when I come home from work, both my dog and cat are so happy. Bill will sometimes leave a note telling you how the walk went or if he noticed something that should be brought to my attention and I should contact my vet.Also, if I do happen to have a package delivered to my house he will bring it indoors. Upon our return, Bill left a note saying how much he enjoyed caring for our cat and he too had been won over by his personality and behaviors, even though being so sick. It's scary. This man is still in business and has people writing positive reviews for to try seduce others into using his services, well, promising services that don't get delivered. If pet sitters were licensed, his license would have been pulled. You deal with this man and you risk the lives of your loved ones. He knows he shouldn't be in the business any longer since he doesn't always note that he has someone's loved ones to care for and therefore leaves them unattended. On his own webpage he writes, "I'm insured, mature, responsible, reliable, a member of Pet Sitters Associates, LLC, and my rates are competitive, especially for the level of service I provide." All it it takes to be a member is Pet Sitters is to be 18 and pay $90 a year. There are no background checks. Most of the insurance they provide is for the benefit of the pet sitter. He says he's mature. If age counts, he's definitely mature. He mocks the way you treat your pets when you show him the routine. He says he's responsible and reliable, but he left out "sometimes" because my boys saw him only once and that was when he came by to see what he was hired to do. He mentions that he is licensed in Daly City, but works in SF. By SF ordinance, if you do business SF, you are required to be licensed in SF. Here is my story: Do you want your pets abused? Then this is the place. Bill Hamilton abandoned my cats while I was on vacation. 5 days of no feeding, water or meds! When I called Bill after I got home he said he forgot to put it on his calendar! For someone who purports to be such an animal advocate, this is pretty careless treatment! I'm lucky my vacation wasn't any longer or my boys would probably be dead! Don't be the next victim of this man's abuse! I was leaving on vacation in a couple of days and I had just put my cats on meds. Friends weren't comfortable administering. Bill Hamilton was recommended by Sir Pet who was too busy. I showed Bill Hamilton how to to administer the meds. No problem. We agreed he would come by once a day. I just got home after 5 days and there is absolutely no sign he ever showed up. The litter boxes weren't touched and thankfully I leave 2 large bowls of water and 2 large bowls of food at all times. All were almost empty. The meds were untouched. Do not trust this man with your pets! read more

I just returned home from a week long holiday vacation and came home to 2 very happy cats, who were left in Bill's capable and caring hands. Bill took excellent care of them both, including my somewhat persnickety old kitty and my very peppy yet shy 8-month old kitten. After his initial visit, which was very thorough, I felt confident that I was leaving the kitties with someone I could trust. He visited them twice a day and took them for walks. He brushed them (and I saw all the hair that came off in a baggie!), and gave them the love they needed while we were away. Bill has looked after our cat several times while we've been away, and we're so grateful to have found him. He does a wonderful job, is communicative and responsible, and charges a very reasonable rate for his services. Our cat is not the friendliest (our vet has the scars to prove it), so we were initially nervous about hiring a sitter. But Bill has some kind of magic cat-whisperer thing going on -- when he arrived for our initial interview, he crouched down in front of her, held out his hand, and she snuggled right up to him. We are longtime clients of Bill, using him frequently to care for our cats and to walk our dog during our trips out of town. He has been extraordinarily responsible and proactive in giving our beloved pets the best care possible, and he has a broad understanding of medical issues that has benefited our pets over the years. We are also personal friends of Bill and saw the uncharacteristic two-star review on Yelp! from "Thomas F." below. Bill explained that he always charged only $35 for two walks a day, or $17.50 a walk, as stated on his website at that time. However, Thomas wanted Bill to lower his price to a mere $25 for two walks, or $12.50 a walk, which is way below the going rate. Since Bill saw no reason to charge less than he does his other clients Thomas wrote that Bill "was unwilling to negotiate on terms," which we feel was an unfair criticism. We wouldn't trust a dog walker who charged that little. Also, even though Thomas' dog was confined to an apartment he was willing to pay for only two walks a day instead of three, so he wanted Bill to give his dog a small amount of water to prevent indoor urination. Bill left a note for Thomas that his dog had no water when he arrived on his first visit and that she was VERY thirsty. It can be dangerous to limit a dog's water intake. Dogs need access to water at all times. Cutting back can cause dehydration and eventually urinary tract infections, kidney infections, kidney stones, organ failure and even death. It's not worth it just to prevent indoor urination. This was the note that Thomas perceived as "judgmental" regarding his "pet ownership skills." Of course, Bill let the dog drink as much water as she wanted, and there were no indoor accidents. Thomas had left a box of treats for Bill to give his dog, but there was only one treat in it, so Bill bought another box for her, which he paid for out of his own pocket. That's typical of the superior service Bill offers, which Thomas ignored. For Bill, the welfare of the animals in his care comes first. Thomas says he'll "shop around next time." All we can say is good luck in finding a better pet sitter and dog walker than Bill. read more

I was referred to Bill after I had an absolutely awful experience with a chain pet sitting business. In contrast, Bill is experienced, professional, and kind. In getting to know him during the three years he has watched my various cats, I've learned about how committed he is to animal welfare outside of pet sitting--it's very impressive. I called on Bill for the first time when I needed someone to help me trap and spay a few ferels, and he said he could help with this, I was thrilled, because never doing it before and not driving I was thinking ok, once if and when I catch them, how do I get them to the SPCA, and back, Bill took care of EVERYTHING, he loaned me a training trap, to get the cats used to it, and every day I would move the food a little closer in the cage, to where they were just walking in and eating. The day came to trap, so he came over and put two traps out, and within twenty minutes he trapped two young males!!! Then he transported them, to the SPCA, then kept them overnight for observation!!\ Bill is amazing, and you can tell he takes this seriously, he also feeds several feral colonies in the area daly. I wanted to also mention his rates are very good, and you can always leave a tip for the SPCA , because the fixing is usually FREE. Bill is very reliable and great with my cats. He makes a point of not only taking care of their feeding, etc. (also, my fish) but he also plays with the cats and pets them as much as they'll let him. I just moved into San Francisco and called the Pet Uncle based upon the recommendation of a different pet sitter, who had been highly recommended to me by a friend. That sitter was booked, but he said Bill was great. I got in touch, set up an appointment for an initial visit and thought my kitty was in good shape. Tonight, just five days before I leave on business, Bill called a few minutes after our "meet and greet" appointment time to tell me he'd been circling the block several times and couldn't find parking. Mind you I I had just come back in from work out in the East Bay and found a spot, and looked out of my front window and could see parking spaces on my street. He told me he couldn't handle the parking issues twice a day and that he's sorry but he can't take the job. He gets a two star instead of a one, because he recommended someone else who has committed to taking the job, but if you don't have your own parking space that will be vacant while you are away, I would warn against counting on care from the Pet Uncle. read more
