I walked around the building trying to see if I was in the wrong place or if anyone was inside, but I couldn't find anyone. After waiting a few minutes, I called the studio and no one picked up. I went back to the front, and eventually a guy opened the door for me but when I mentioned it was locked, he said it wasn't, which was confusing and didn't sit right. The class ended up being just me, which already made the energy feel kind of off. It was set up as a circuit with eight exercises and four laps. The warm-up alone was three rounds, and I was honestly exhausted by the second round. I told the coach that, but he kept pushing me to finish the last round anyway. I get that coaching involves encouragement, but it felt more like pressure than support. The overall vibe of the class was pretty dull and unmotivating. I'm not sure if it was because I was the only one there, but there was no energy or effort to make the session engaging. I completed three out of the four rounds and told him I didn't have it in me to do the last one. His response was basically, "So you're just going to leave early then?" which came off dismissive and a bit rude. At that point, I was already drained and over it. On top of that, the cleanliness didn't inspire confidence. The shower supplies looked really neglected, residue buildup, cloudy containers, and just generally not something you'd feel comfortable using. It added to the overall impression that the space isn't being maintained as well as it should be. Between the confusing entry situation, lack of responsiveness, the coach's off-putting attitude, and the condition of the facilities, this just wasn't a great experience. I don't see myself coming back.

She gave me no warning and didn't inquire about why I didn't respond in a timely fashion. Obviously, her lack of empathy for her clients is on full display, despite her telling me that she cared about your client's success and fitness goals. Her inability to properly address me on March 14th and March 21st requesting my weight, showed no respect for me as a client. She didn't address me by my name, ask me how I was doing, or ask me how was my day. For example, March 14th e-mail read, "You didn't send your weight yesterday". That email was so unprofessional. Greeting and asking about a client's day may seem trivial to her but in the world of decency and respect, it shows some personal short comings on her part. I have two co-workers who live in the city of Alexandria who are looking for a Personal Trainer and wanted to know the outcome of working with Kelly. Clearly, they won't be signing up! In hindsight, her decision to drop me as a client is good for me, because I don't want to work with anyone with her issues.

On at least one occasion, FitOne has emailed their client list asking them to review the business on Yelp. Additionally, do your own research and make your own decisions on their nutritional counseling. I've since learned that there is really very little oversight for or agreement on what consitutes a nutritionist, or qualifies one as such. My own story is halfway to its happy ending; with the help of a certified NP with nutritional credentials, I've lost 20# of pure fat in less than 2mo. I still wish I hadn't wasted my time/money/energy with FitOne - and I stand by the rest of my first review. On the other hand, they're nice people who genuinely intend to help. YMMV.

Dave is very focused on my needs and does a great job of helping me push into new goals and is a stickler for ensuring that my personal training is done safely and correctly. Dave is easy to work with, and that has gone a long ways for me staying with him for the past 2 years. Dave also has state of the art new equipment and a great training place. Dave is able to design workouts that are challenging and he can modify them if I've got an injury. One time I was on crutches but he still planned a great workout for me. They smelled like chlorinated sewage and are just kinda grimy. Lots of hair (gag) and dirty lockers. Defffff bring your shower shoes. Showers have body wash/shampoo and conditioner. I also saw lotion and blow dryers and multiple scales. It's not my favorite place but I'll be back for some classes because I like OneLife's class offerings.

OneLife Old Town Alexandria update January 2026…read more Looking back to July 2025 when I first reviewed Onelife Fitness - Old Town Alexandria, VA, things have only deteriorated. Apparently corporate management determined not to allow any additional time between the end of the 11 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday Tai Chi classes and the noon start of Functional Lab (on Tuesdays) and BodyPump (on Thursdays). As a result, participants in the Tai Chi classes are still in the room at 4 minutes to noon, because management has elected not to change the schedule to permit more time in between these classes. Today the Group Fitness Director was personally present before the start of the noon Functional Lab class, and deflected concerns raised by participants waiting to get set up for the noon Functional Lab. She dismissed those concerns: she imagined, hypothetically, that participants in the Tai Chi classes would reject the schedule change, saying that if the 11 a.m. class ran from 11 to 11:50 instead of 11 to 11:55 a.m., it would appear that this was a "Tai Chi Lite" class. That hypothetical seems to ignore reality; it also permits continuing disrespect shown by the Tai Chi instructor toward both her peer instructors and participants in the noon classes. As the Fitness Director personally witnessed today, the Tai Chi instructor was still holding class at 11:56 a.m., disregarding the schedule. Whether this approach is due to the Tai Chi instructor's deliberate disrespect of the incoming class (and the respective instructors) or simply her inattention to the time, management has yet to effectively address this problem.
