    Chicken laksa
    Lilli D.

We went on a Friday night with no booking, it was packed but we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table of 4. We set out to make sure we didn't spend more then £10 on our meals and every meal on the menu was around £7-£8 which was perfect. I ordered the chicken laksa which was huge and amazing and i want to go back every single day to eat it !!! My friends enjoyed their meals, i didn't hear them rave on as much as I did though haha but they still had only good things to say about it. I had no idea about this place before but I will definitely be going back time and time again.

Chicken Stir Fry with Pineapple - Avoid
    Rashed I.

Communal style dining on large benches, sizzling stir fries and an authentic selection of Thai dishes and drinks makes this a great place to dine in Clapham. We love the sweet corn cakes here, yellow and green curries are also excellent. But be warned portions are on the tiny side... My last visit was unfortunately marred by going off-piste. I ordered a 'Special of the Day' and to cut a long story short... it wasn't very special. My 'Stir fried chicken in a Sesame sauce with Pineapple, Chilies & Spring onions' was a soggy affair that tasted primarily of Soy sauce; actually quite revolting. Almost put me off the place, but I know they do other dishes well, so I will return..

It's a simple and popular little Thai joint opposite Clapham Common tube station. Very pared down (almost unfinished) white walls, the long bench seating and communal tables are packed solid most evenings. At 12:30 on a Saturday I shared it with a couple of Clapham happy families and a pair of joggers fresh from the common. Ignoring their uncommonly good Pad Thai, I briefly flirted with the idea of a deep and cheap bowl of Tom Yum soup before settling on the chicken Pepper Tree curry, their spiciest dish, guaranteed to blast away my ills. A side of sweetcorn cakes didn't set my world (or tastebuds) alight. They are fine, nothing more. Slightly overfried and a little too doughy. The treat comes with the Pepper Tree curry, exactly what the doctor ordered. Foolishly skipping the rice, I plough straight into my bowl, nearer a soup than a curry but packed with flavour. Lemongrass, Thai basil and tamarind provide the backup complexity to a punchy peppery heat. Chicken, krachai (a mild ginger-like root used in Thai and Indonesian cooking) and bell peppers cook in the heat with Thai aubergines and green beans retaining their bite and adding texture to the bowl. It's not complex, but boy is it satisfying.

Great value, tasty thai food, friendly staff. Informal canteen style gives it a cheap and cheerful atmosphere. Strongly recommended.

We ordered ox tongues, fish cakes, satay, spring rolls, fried chicken wings, fried eggs and duck curry. They are all impressive as the photos in the menu. The ox tongues dish was the most impressive one. All of us said that we never tasted ox tongues as tender as this place. The duck curry was my 2nd favorite. The curry was flavorful and the portion of duck meat was generous. The servers are super friendly here. The ambiance was appealing. It gave me a welcomed feeling. My party enjoyed this last meal we had in London. We recommended this place to our friends who live in London right after the meal. I think I will come back again next time I visit London.

Very nice service! I had the vegetarian green papaya salad, and another vegetarian dish with wide flat noodles, the spicy version. The green papaya salad was absolutely delicious. It's one of my favorite thai dishes, but I never thought to order it vegetarian, and I liked it even better without the fish sauce. My second dish was not as good. It had a slightly weird taste in it. And as dishes started being delivered to the tables around me the whole place just had that weird smell about it.

You will get to know the folks at the table beside you, whether you want to or not. We're pretty chill and fine with that though! We split an order of Shrimp Pad Thai and also had spring rolls. We do this to avoid leftovers or wasting food. The Pad Thai had lots of peanuts which gave it crunch. The spring rolls were piping hot, and I only wished I had more dipping sauce for them. London in general is more expensive than a lot of European cities, so lunch wasn't cheap, but it was about what we expected for the location.

No one bothered to explain the menu, and when I asked if the fried rice could be made spicier, all they offered was some chili paste on the side. Not exactly what I was hoping for. I ordered the vegetarian jungle curry, but it was a letdown--no real texture or flavour, just kind of bland. On top of that, the prices were way too high for what you get. Honestly, this was one of the most underwhelming Thai food experiences I've had in London. Definitely won't be going back, and I don't think I'll miss it.

We made a reservation however, it being a Tuesday night I don't think it was necessary. The atmosphere is quaint and has a romantic feel to it especially with the dim lighting which we liked. There were a couple of large parties which made for a very loud noise level but it did not bother us. The sampler appetizer was our favorite thing since it had a little of everything. The ribs in the sampler stuck out in flavor and I wish I ordered them for my entree. We also ordered tamarind duck with a side of fried rice and shrimp pad Thai. They are open until 11pm and we arrived around 10pm. The place was not crowded so we we seated immediately. I finally settled on the duck egg rolls and chicken satay for sharing. For dinner I ordered the Pud Thai. There were surprisingly quick to prepare the dinner and bring it out to the table. The duck eggs rolls were crispy and delicious, however, I much preferred them with the peanut sauce that accompanies the chicken satay rather than the sauce that they are served with. The chicken satay was also good. The juicy pieces of chicken were presented on skewers. I love pad Thai so ordering the "Pud Thai" was a natural go to item. It was very, very good. Overall the service and food is good here. It was our plan to return a second time for dinner, however, our schedule didn't permit it.

Clearly feeling overwhelmed. Placed an online order that was projected to be ready at 8:10 pm. I got there at about 8:15pm and the woman that greeted me was pretty calm cool and collected even though the place was JAM PACKED- with several people waiting outside to pick up delivery orders or waiting to be seated. She was multitasking for sure- taking orders at tables, dealing with Uber Eats folks, as well as people coming in for a table, and me picking up my online order. It was a bit of chaos but she said to give her 2 mins. I said I'll give you 5 trying to be cool because she was working hard. About 13 mins later a young woman (20s or so) came over and asked me to step outside. I politely told her 'that woman' (pointed in the nice lady's direction) said I could wait here, so I'd rather stay here to get my order. Based on her facial expression and the fact that she went to another employee to obviously complain about me - I wasn't going to budge - and get sent outside to be forgotten about. My order was given to me by the nice woman about 8:45pm- 35 mins after the time stated online. A bit aggravating for sure but thanked the nice lady for being so nice. Speaking from my personal and professional experience people can generally forgive a lot of things if the person they are dealing with is nice. All that to let you know that my family and I thought the food was pretty darn good. I will definitely get the chicken wings again as they were cooked perfectly and with just the right amount of crispness to them.

Here both of these were per determined. It was also a bit pricer than I am used to for Thai. The service was good and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time. I have to say the broth of the coconut soup was 5 stars. It was delicious with complex favors. I also liked the mushrooms in it. The chicken was a bit disappointing. It was basic but not well cut. Many of the chucks were quite large for soup (maybe they use the same chicken for everything?). We also had shrimp pad Thai which oddly was listed under the sides and vegetable section. I also found it odd that you had to order rice separately, why would this not come with your entree as a normal side? The presentation was lovely. All in all it was good, but not amazing. The noodles were cooked well and there were two large grilled prawns. This is not really a restaurant for children and there were two small children at the table next to use. After they left the window was covered with small, greasy hand prints.
