If you're a fan of "authentic" Chinese food, you're going to be disappointed, as the menu is largely made up of the usual English takeaway favourites like crispy chili beef, but if you just want some fried rice, sweet and sour pork and prawn crackers brought to your door and get change from a £10 note, then it's a good option. They do a range of excellent value set meals, all of which serve more people than they state - or maybe I just have a small appetite? Like most places, they always quote around 45 minutes delivery time, but I've rarely waited more then half an hour.

We usually order takeaway from here since the dishes are of a reasonably reliable level of quality…read more Our standard order includes egg fried rice and salt and pepper chicken wings for the kids, while the husband and I cast about the menu for favorites. Beef curry and Mongolian beef are both decent, and the Singapore noodles (vermicelli, of course, as ho fun and egg noodles are no substitute) are nice and spiced. The vegetarian crispy duck is nearly as good as the real duck, and in general both dishes are better than the versions from other restaurants. The orange chicken isn't exactly what I expected; it's more of an orange version of lemon chicken, if that makes sense. In the US, orange beef is a standard dish, where the breading is cornstarch and very crispy, with a subtle orange glaze that doesn't soften the breading. New Winner's version is doused in sauce so the breading had nearly disintegrated; the kids didn't care though and ate it just fine :) Prices are reasonable. You can feed a family of four on 15 quid.

Those adventurous dishes are what make this gem so amazing. Trust me when I say your taste buds will thank you for taking the path less traveled. If you check out the included photo you'll see a wide assortment of flavors on display, from spicy dumplings swimming in delicious hot oil to aromatic spicy crab, which was a surprise hit. Yes, there are spicy dishes a plenty at this place, but you'll also find plates suitable for milder tongues as well. The entire menu is packed with delicious food which will satisfy just about anyone in your group. Indoor dining isn't happening these days, but during my previous visits to Jin Jiang I always found the service to be friendly and attentive while the atmosphere was quite comfortable. Seriously, this is the kind of rare find (outside of your local Chinatown) that I want to support through these tough times because I love restaurants that work hard to expand the Chinese cuisine experience beyond the same boring stuff that has sadly become synonymous with takeaway. Give them a try if you're looking for something different. They just might become your new favorite Chinese.

Caters for both the non adventurous and those who like to experiment with new dishes. Ingredients taste fresh, so far every dish I've tried has been well seasoned, oozing with Dong Bei and Szechuan flavours. Just straight to the point words telling you what you're going to eat and a possible hint at how it might taste. Half the menu is standard Chinese fare, but the other (better) half is Dongbei cuisine, the part of the world where China meets North Korea. Think deep beefy dishes, like the sort of stews an Irish grandmother would cook in March, but using tofu for potatoes and adding an array of spices rather than Guinness. Especially worth a try is the 'stewed pork belly with bean curd sheet knots' and we also totally fell for two cold starters - 'shredded potato in vinegar and chilli oil' which was like a non-fruity papaya salad in a weird way - and the astonishingly good 'bean curd and preserved duck egg', a mountain of cold fresh white tofu decorated with onion, sauces and century egg slices. There's lots on the menu to make your mouth water or perhaps do the opposite depending on your tastes. I'm not so sure everyone will fall for 'cold potato starch sheet' or 'blood curd and pig bowel', but at least it's more interesting than another sweet and sour chicken.
