However, after suffering for 17 years with a chronic neck and shoulder issue, all roads led to Duluth, and to the Ashiatsu room at The Well, where I was lucky enough to work with Aine O'Leary, their resident genius. Aine created a safe, incredibly harmonious space from the moment I stepped in the room, allowing me to explain why I was there, and what I was hoping to heal, while being both gracious and generous in hearing me out. Sometimes, when you tell a therapist about your specific issue, all you get is a standard massage. But there was nothing standard about the massage I received, from Aine. There really is no way to describe it, without experiencing it, but the silly metaphor I have is that normal massage is like being kneaded like you're bread, while Ashiatsu (at least as far as Aine practices it) is like being surfed on, like you're a wave. The energy isn't just moved around your body . . . it's gathered by the force and power allowed by the human foot and flushed out of you. Aine targeted the specific area - shoulder and neck - but not by routinely working it. Rather, she would start with a small area on my back, and then use her foot to gather all the pain in my back, and through steady and very deep pressure, push it out of my body. The experience was very musical to me - in the sense that the feeling would start small, and then build and build to this crescendo of feeling as all the deepest pains in your muscles were completely straightened out, loosened, and lengthened, until pain I didn't even know I had, were both addressed and released. Gone from me now, days later, as I write this. The entire experience, from beginning to end, was absolutely fantastic. None of the pain of shiatsu, but all of the benefits. I walked out feeling not only looser, and happier, but lighter, somehow taller. My energy, which had been so tied to negativity, which in turn had been so cramped into my muscles, had now re-tuned into something more at ease with the world around me. I can't put it any other way. Aine healed me, at least for the time being, from something I didn't even know was hurting me. I went home that night, feeling so happy I cried. As if I hadn't felt happy, in so long, and only now, in the absence of this pain that was so deep within me, I was now free to have my old life back. The happy life, I had thought impossible to access. And THAT is what I always want, from any form of healing - to not just feel better for the moment, but to regain the hope that I can feel better from now on. So thank you, Aine. You are a true healer. Thank you for helping me. Can't wait for the next session!

This time I get a message an hour before stating "they can't provide services "to me". Hmmm sounds like discrimination. I politely responded and asked why- got no response from RN Michelle. Oh this is the same nurse who refused to refund my money when I accidentally purchased the wrong package online- stating we can only give you a credit for future purchases- our system isn't set up to give you back your $700... hmmm that sounds kinda like stealing. So then she sends me a list of Duluth medspa patients( by accident) Hmmm sounds like someone is neither professional nor in compliance with Patient confidentiality. I'd take my business elsewhere..... yes I have saved all of our communications nurse Michelle

I called this med spa over a month ago to ask why their August schedule wasn't available, which is…read moreunusual in this industry. Most med spa clients book months in advance. I was told it would be posted "soon." It's now May 31st 2025, and still--no August schedule. When I followed up, I was told they're waiting on one girl who does the services, and she hasn't finalized her availability... because she has another job. Let that sink in: they're delaying bookings because they rely on a single part-time provider. And when I expressed concern? I was told, "You're welcome to go elsewhere." I've never heard of a business encouraging potential clients to go elsewhere--especially because their only provider hasn't committed to a schedule. This is a med spa, not a high school part-time gig. Their glossy website suggests professionalism, but the reality behind the scenes is anything but. If this is how they treat new clients, I can only imagine how they handle reschedules, cancellations, or post-treatment issues. Thankfully, I found a far more competent and reliable provider in Twin Ports after relocating. This place is a major red flag.

I was greeted promptly with a smile. Note - I get really anxious with getting my hair done because I know for a cut and highlights I am going to blow $140 plus ... a chunk of change for me. So I'm a call of nerves asking sheepishly for what I want .. that will hopefully grow out well. Anyway - Cue Kayla (spelling?) Master colorist? I'm easy to please but hard to impress with hair care. Plus the chairs are comfy! Very stinkin happy. Will be back to ask for her! Take a chance and try them out!

The stylist apparently had 20 years of experience, so my daughter went ahead and booked an appointment. At the start of her appointment she discussed with the stylist want she wanted and even showed her a photo of how she wanted it cut, (the photo was her hair from a previous haircut at a different salon). The stylist BUTCHERED her hair. I know some hair stylist will cut curly hair dry, but this stylist didn't even look at her curl pattern she just cut inches off her hair. It looks nothing like the photo she shared when she arrived. She is in tears over this horrendous haircut. All of her beautiful curls are GONE. Definitely will not return and do not recommend this salon.

I eventually agreed to a photo with a minimal bang and followed it up by placing my hand on my head and saying "ok, but I wouldn't want them to here or anything." She proceeded to give me literally half a head of bangs, almost two full inches behind the line I said was already beyond my comfort zone. Right before it was done, I was getting increasingly anxious with the plan and she challenged me with "what is your body saying?" I responded, "it's screaming no..." to which she quickly responded "well, I have a full body yes and I'm gonna go" and seconds later it was done. It wasn't that my communication was unclear and I'm still baffled why I didn't stand up and walk out, I've just NEVER been coerced by a stylist like that before! When I went for a repair haircut the new stylist heard my story and said, "let me guess, an Adeline?" Apparently she is know for this type of behavior, believing herself an artist who knows what you want better than you do. In the week since I've heard from several other's who were treated similarly and felt stunned into submission. I am going to regret visiting her salon for well over a year while this grows out.
