I was greeted promptly with a smile. Note - I get really anxious with getting my hair done because I know for a cut and highlights I am going to blow $140 plus ... a chunk of change for me. My daughter found this salon while exploring Duluth after recently moving to the area. She called to inquire if they had a stylist who knew how to cut curly hair and the receptionist said the did. The stylist apparently had 20 years of experience, so my daughter went ahead and booked an appointment. At the start of her appointment she discussed with the stylist want she wanted and even showed her a photo of how she wanted it cut, (the photo was her hair from a previous haircut at a different salon). The stylist BUTCHERED her hair. I know some hair stylist will cut curly hair dry, but this stylist didn't even look at her curl pattern she just cut inches off her hair. It looks nothing like the photo she shared when she arrived. She is in tears over this horrendous haircut. All of her beautiful curls are GONE. Definitely will not return and do not recommend this salon. read more

Fitger's Salon & Spa saved my life! I had previously gotten a terrible haircut at a different hair salon and a week later was looking around to fix it somewhere else. I scheduled with Fitger's - the woman on the phone was very polite and lucky for me they had an opening for the next day. The front desk staff was kind and the waiting room chairs were very comfortable (I have arthritis so I always appreciate a good chair lol). The stylist was professional and attentive. Found this place while shopping in the area & went back to do some research. I called the next day to see if I could get in. Whoever answered the phone was really short on the phone & didn't care to help to book anything. This is not a good reflection on the company as a whole. She would just say no we don't have anything on the days I inquired on. Didn't offer to look for any upcoming appointments or offer when they would have an opening, didn't offer to get added to a cancellation list, nothing. She just ended the conversation with sorry about that, & hung up. I currently fly back & forth to another state to get my hair done. I was trying to find a place here in MN. Awesome first visit. I just moved to Duluth from Portland, OR and it's awesome to see they have a world-class salon even in a smaller city. Britt was my stylist and she did an amazing job. Beautiful all-over red, and she also perfectly corrected a botched haircut I'd done back when. Also, everyone at the salon was super nice and welcoming. Then even made my pup feel at home. I showed up on time for my appointment. I Was greeted kindly at the front desk and right away was offered a beverage of coffee, tea or water. I had the peppermint tea. They served it to me 4 minutes later, and then my assigned stylist greeted me minutes later. I was on time for my appointment and I was able to be seen pretty quick. The salon is clean, stylish and modern. My hair dresser was Mary, an experienced hair dresser for many years, very pleasant. She was professional and wasn't pushing for extra services. I felt relaxed and no pressure to tell my whole life story during our hair appointment. It was nice to relax and not feel pressured to converse. My highlights were good, nothing extraordinary, she did an amazing job and a nice trim also. Would definitely recommend this place. When I first called, they told me they were booked out for the next week, and I asked if I could be put on a cancellation list. The receptionist kindly put me on the list, and 3 hours later I got call from the salon offering an opening at 2:30! It worked great! Thank you Fitgers salon & spa! I will be back! read more

Horrible full highlights! Worst platinum blonde, back to back, tight foils highlighting experience I have had in the eleven years I've been having this done to my hair. Look at the pictures for yourself. These were taken the day after I got my hair done. Over a 1/4" of dark roots, brassy golden highlights I DID NOT ask for nor would ever want. My hair is far from any acceptable form of what I asked for. Kicker- both the stylist Diane and the manager refused to fix my hair saying "they could not meet my expectations" and referred me to another salon in town. All money was refunded. I was given courtesy smiles and courtesy uh-huh's from Diane when explaining how my hair has been done for 11+ years. I have spend hundreds of hours and thousands and thousands of dollars over the years to have my hair platinum blonde via highlights/foils. This was the first time sitting in her chair, yet she "knew better" amd didn't want to take my suggestions. Well, here ya have it. My hair was a total whack job, not even close to what I asked for, and a total waste of time. Next time Diane, how about you put your pride aside and actually listen to your client. The website for here says they will meet every expectation, go above and beyond, yadda, yadda. Yeah. Not even close. When you're told your stylist has done hair for over 10 years, make sure it's in the area of expertise your hair requires. Will never return. I got in for a day-of appointment later in the afternoon with David. Overall, I thought he did a nice job on my haircut. He cut most of it dry and then shampooed me before finishing it up. I felt like he gave me a bit of a hard time because they "squeezed me in" but I only asked if they had availability. He asked if I wanted my hair blow dried and I said yes, I usually flat iron or curl it. Because of the "squeeze" he blew dry it about 60% of the way dry and then scrunched some product into it and sent me on my way with damp hair. The salon was beautiful and front desk very engaging but the best part of getting a haircut is walking about with a new styled-do you're proud of - not going home to finishing doing your hair! I'd go back but try another stylist. read more

I had walked pass this place many times so I called and made an appointment. I had recently loss my Husband 2 weeks earlier,so really needed to get out of my house. They were wonderful to me a sweet I had a manicure and a pedicure. Wow she was really good and professional! I never had to tell her what to do. That was nice considering I didn't fill like talking. My nails and Toe nails were beautiful and she took her time. I will return soon. Loved the service the ladies all very kind . Then I treated myself to a 45min. Message! Best massage in a long time!!! We stayed at the Fitger's Inn and were pleasantly surprised that they have new spa/salon located in the shops adjacent to the hotel. I went there for an oleplex hair treatment (I am butchering the spelling on that sorry), and eyelash extensions. Both great experiences; the eyelashes I am going to rate as probably the top of the many esthetician's that I have worked with (I have been getting my lashes done since 2014). I got them done in July, and they stayed on for almost an entire month. I am super super impressed. The lady who did my hair was a nice gal, and I appreciated how professional she was. I got a really great cut from the hairstylist. The appointment was done on time. The only complaint is that I wish the stylist would have towel dried my hair some more since it was dripping down the front of me, down on to my mask. I would consider seeing this hairstylist again but just ask that she remembers to towel dry my hair better so that it isn't dripping. read more

She was kind and courteous and I would highly recommend her. She also took the time to find out what I wanted and was patient with getting it just right. I got many compliments! Teah has cut my hair several times this year and it is a pleasure to spend time in the calming, modern space. She does a great job and the other staff are very friendly. Janna worked with me on Wednesday and she worked miracles on my hair! She gave me the best hair cut/style I've ever had, and I didn't give much direction. If you want someone who can transform your hair and can figure out exactly what will work for you, she's the one you want to see! I had a very disappointing experience at your salon today. I had originally booked a pedicure online, but I was notified via email that the date and time I had chosen was not available and I was offered an alternative date and time instead. I did respond that the alternative appointment did work and received a response that I was booked at the date and time offered. When I arrived for my appointment today I was informed that I did not have an appointment today. I showed them my confirmation email and they simply stated "sorry we are all booked today" with little mention of an attempt to re-book or anything to try make up for the mistake. I felt the customer service I experienced today was extremely poor. I showed up for a service I believed I had been confirmed for and was made to feel I was in the wrong and the one at fault. I was hoping to book my wedding party services at your salon but am reconsidering as I certainly do not want my wedding party and family to experience such poor customer service. read more

I recently booked an appointment for a haircut with my regular stylist - by name - and was pleased to be seen the next day. Upon making the significant trip to Duluth and arriving at my scheduled appointment the next day, I was told by one of the two women at the front desk that while I had an appointment, it was not with the stylist I had made the appointment with, but with someone else (whose name sounds nothing like my stylist's name, so there's no chance of a misunderstanding there). I was given the choice of taking what I was given, or leaving without a haircut. I chose to leave. When I make an appointment with a particular stylist, I expect to be seen by that person, not someone else. Both Fitger's Salon management and the hair stylists need to be aware this is happening, because you are both losing customers as a result. read more
