I was greeted promptly with a smile. Note - I get really anxious with getting my hair done because I know for a cut and highlights I am going to blow $140 plus ... a chunk of change for me. So I'm a call of nerves asking sheepishly for what I want .. that will hopefully grow out well. Anyway - Cue Kayla (spelling?) Master colorist? I'm easy to please but hard to impress with hair care. Plus the chairs are comfy! Very stinkin happy. Will be back to ask for her! Take a chance and try them out!

The stylist apparently had 20 years of experience, so my daughter went ahead and booked an appointment. At the start of her appointment she discussed with the stylist want she wanted and even showed her a photo of how she wanted it cut, (the photo was her hair from a previous haircut at a different salon). The stylist BUTCHERED her hair. I know some hair stylist will cut curly hair dry, but this stylist didn't even look at her curl pattern she just cut inches off her hair. It looks nothing like the photo she shared when she arrived. She is in tears over this horrendous haircut. All of her beautiful curls are GONE. Definitely will not return and do not recommend this salon.

After stating multiple times that I don't like deep, heavy bangs. I eventually agreed to a photo with a minimal bang and followed it up by placing my hand on my head and saying "ok, but I wouldn't want them to here or anything." She proceeded to give me literally half a head of bangs, almost two full inches behind the line I said was already beyond my comfort zone. Right before it was done, I was getting increasingly anxious with the plan and she challenged me with "what is your body saying?" I responded, "it's screaming no..." to which she quickly responded "well, I have a full body yes and I'm gonna go" and seconds later it was done. It wasn't that my communication was unclear and I'm still baffled why I didn't stand up and walk out, I've just NEVER been coerced by a stylist like that before! When I went for a repair haircut the new stylist heard my story and said, "let me guess, an Adeline?" Apparently she is know for this type of behavior, believing herself an artist who knows what you want better than you do. In the week since I've heard from several other's who were treated similarly and felt stunned into submission. I am going to regret visiting her salon for well over a year while this grows out. Pre and two posts. I wish I'd been warned, perhaps I'd have been less stunned into compliance.

"Fiery & Fierce at Colour Lounge!"…read more Okay, listen up, because I've just been through the ultimate hair transformation at Colour Lounge, and if you're thinking about going black and red, you need to read this. Imagine taking Wednesday Addams, tossing her in a blender with Jessica Rabbit, and pouring that gorgeous, badass mixture straight onto my head. The result? Absolute fire. My hairdresser didn't just slap some dye on my head and call it a day. Oh no. This was ART. They took one look at me, saw I was ready to embrace my inner rockstar (or villain--depends on the day, honestly), and turned my wild vision into a reality. They nailed the perfect inky black and deep, sizzling red combo that had me questioning whether I was too hot to be seen in public. We're talking layers of red and black woven together so seamlessly that people might think my hair's literally on fire when I walk by. Subtle? No. Glorious? Absolutely. And the whole experience? Let's just say my hairdresser has the patience of a saint and the sass of a drag queen--they knew exactly how to keep me laughing while wielding enough foil to power a small satellite. If you're looking for someone who knows their way around black-and-red hair like a pro and who'll treat you like royalty (while dishing out some A+ life advice), book here immediately. In short: I came in looking for a change, and I left feeling like a walking goddess of fire and darkness.

While visiting Duluth recently, I took a guest to SK for a pedicure. While I am not negative or…read moreunreasonable by nature, I expect a high service level from a place that exists to serve its clients, yes? I don't want to over-explain, but if you are looking for a place that is responsive to your basic service and concerns, avoid a SK pedicure at this point. -Our scheduled appointment was delayed by 50 minutes, during which we sat with our feet in lukewarm pedicure baths in the back of the salon. -We were then worked on by 1 young and clearly inexperienced person who attempted to serve us both at the same time. She was joined about 20 minutes later by another person, and they rushed through our pedicures. Neither was done at a professional level. -My person reworked the final polish so many times, it was mottled, wet, and uneven; probably the worst professional pedicure I have received. - After nearly 2 hours in the salon, I walked bare-footed and wet-polished to the front. There, I tried to salvage the job with polish remover myself. -We were not offered a discount for our trouble, so I asked for one. This was the most disappointing aspect to me; the owner or manager should have been responsive immediately for the poor service we received, and offered at least some compensation. -After settling on a minor readjustment, I left feeling pretty unsettled and embarrassed in front of my guest, but I am very clear. If you run a customer service establishment, you have one time to make an impression, then you lose. -PS, the pedicure costs at SK are 50% over the price I pay in Boston for an always excellent manicure, that I will schedule soon to fix this poorly done job.
