I eventually agreed to a photo with a minimal bang and followed it up by placing my hand on my head and saying "ok, but I wouldn't want them to here or anything." She proceeded to give me literally half a head of bangs, almost two full inches behind the line I said was already beyond my comfort zone. Right before it was done, I was getting increasingly anxious with the plan and she challenged me with "what is your body saying?" I responded, "it's screaming no..." to which she quickly responded "well, I have a full body yes and I'm gonna go" and seconds later it was done. It wasn't that my communication was unclear and I'm still baffled why I didn't stand up and walk out, I've just NEVER been coerced by a stylist like that before! When I went for a repair haircut the new stylist heard my story and said, "let me guess, an Adeline?" Apparently she is know for this type of behavior, believing herself an artist who knows what you want better than you do. In the week since I've heard from several other's who were treated similarly and felt stunned into submission. I am going to regret visiting her salon for well over a year while this grows out. Fantastic sams is usually my go-to chain salon when I need to get rid of unhealthy ends. The one in…read moremy hometown is very warm and pleasant. This one was a disappointment. There was almost no small talk, they very clearly just wanted to get me in and out. They did manage to fit me in reasonably fast, just a 25 minute wait for a walk in. I killed time looking at a store next door. The cost of my cut was about $17, which considering the product might have actually been too much. I asked to have about 3 or 4 inches taken off so my hair would rest at my collar bone. I also asked to have my layers cleaned up. The stylist didn't bother to wash my hair, which is half of the reason I go to fantastic sams. All stylists in the past either cut your hair wet, or dry after washing and drying your hair for you. She cut my hair straight across and lifted my hair up to give random, choppy chunks that were supposed to be my 'layers'. They were very uneven. Some parts of my layers were drastically different in length. She only put 2 layers on one part of my head and 3 on other parts. She also didn't bother to properly feather/blend them in. I gently tried to express that the layers looked wrong but she said dismissed my concerns. She claimed my hair looked a little off because my color was faded, but I've been getting layers in my hair for about 14 years. I know how my hair should look. I was too socially anxious to outright say it was bad. It looked almost as bad as when I tried to cut my own bangs in middle school. I drove home, trying not to cry. My roommates noticed I was upset, and when I showed them my hair they agreed with all of my complaints. A friend of mine spent almost 2 hours fixing my hair for me. She managed to make it cute, and even though it's shorter than what I wanted I like what my friend did. My hair is now a little past my jaw instead of at my collar bone. Maybe I should have been more aggressive in my complaint, but that's just not the type of person I am. I don't think I'll come back to this location, even if money is tight. I feel bad leaving a one star so the cost and short waiting time give it a two.
