I called and let the receptionist know my mom passed this week so I'm obviously upset. The receptionist was totally cold and responded with "so you want to know packages and pricing?" ZERO sympathy. Just typed away like I was trying to get pricing on a set of tires. She put me on hold and eventually came back and said no directors were available. I never got a call back. read more

The Paul Mortuary is an excellent choice if you are navigating the death of a loved one. They are gentle and kind and excellent guides on the process of what needs to be done. They don't try to upsell you with expensive add ons - they are simply respectful of your loved one, your choices, and your grief. I would recommend them wholeheartedly. This review is for the service of my mother, which was last year. Mary Nina was exceptional throughout the whole process. Frankly, she is the ONLY person on this entire peninsula that I entrusted my mother to be in her care. She gave the extra effort and kindness with making sure the details were exact and perfect. Family and friends felt as though we had a best friend in our corner. Her job has to be one of the most difficult in the world, which she handled with dignity and grace. I couldn't imagine going through this without her. Her knowledge and compassion exceeded all expectations! She is an angel on earth! read more

I would give no stars if possible. I would not recommend The Paul Mortuary to anyone!! They do not return calls or respond to emails. They had the wrong date of birth for our loved one their website and I asked them to change it and it has been a few days and it still isn't corrected. They lack in communication skills. read more

The loss of a loved one is never easy but MaryNina didn't make it any easier. Even though we were relatively clear about our wishes we still had to sit through a long uncomfortable sales pitch involving videos and binders of options "at additional cost". It felt very impersonal. We were also told that we had to come back and complete paperwork through the mortuary that we later were able to do more easily through the cemetery. We had a good experience at the cemetery we selected, but I cannot recommend The Paul Mortuary in Pacific Grove. read more

I would have chosen no stars or minus stars but it would not let me! Horrible service, MaryNina has made this so much worse than it had to be! To be in the worse time of my life and get the sales pitch for an expensive "package" as if there were no other options was outrageous. I can't believe the money I have paid them (and all upfront) to have it all go so wrong, pathetic! The cremation process was not done in time for Service, it took them too long to post the obituary, orders placed have been late and current orders made in November still not received, no return calls to numerous messages left, no replies to multiple emails sent, they do not answer the phone, all you get is an answering service with no response. When I leave a message requesting the owner or manager, that's when MaryNina will finally return a call. The response is always the same... She is too busy to call back or check emails. My guess is that they already have my money so they are probably only helping/responding to those that haven't yet confirmed services and paid. I have yet to receive a response or call from management or Dignity! They have truly made a traumatic situation 100% worse! STAY AWAY FROM THE PAUL MORTUARY!!! read more

There comes a time in life when you're forced to make a quick decision about something very personal and important. I was in that position when my wife passed away recently. The pastor of my parish recommended The Paul Mortuary and am I glad he did. MaryNina, who has been there for 40years, was very compassionate and knowledgeable. She greeted me and explained all the offerings and options I had in detail. She than gave me the confidence that she could handle everything with professionalism and experience. The vigil turned out perfectly and the overflow crowd was accommodated with seating for the video and rosary Service. I highly recommend this Mortuary if you are ever faced with this tough situation. read more

Seems odd to Yelp a mortuary, but I had such a wonderful experience there with Lucien Oldenberg that I just had to share. I have dealt with several mortuaries in my life and this experience was head and tails above the rest. Lucien is genuinely kind and caring, and was able to perfectly discern my needs quickly and efficiently and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure I was ok. She did not try to sell me on anything extra, took care of 3 obituaries and social security and a bunch of other details professionally and accurately. No one wants to have to be a mortuary customer, but I am beyond relieved that I now now know the one to use if needed in the future. read more

A family member had past away recently and we contracted the Paul Mortuary to handle the arrangements. It was done beautifully and made a sad event, into one which was a lovely sending. The coordinator, Mary Nina, was most helpful and made the process seem so simple during a stressful time. She was hands on and guided our family through the processes, as well as so informative. We had an overwhelming response from others about what nice services we had for our loved one, and I agree with all the information the last reviewer wrote! Highly recommend!! read more

We lost a young women very suddenly last month. She was a daughter, a sister, and a partner. We asked Paul's to notify us when they picked her up from the coroners office which they did not do. We made an appointment to meet with them on a Friday and have her cremated. They not only cancelled the appointment without contacting us, they were not apologetic about in anyway. They said they just 'got busy'. It turns out what that meant was that they had no time on that Friday to set up a viewing of the body. We did not want this but they did want to miss the opportunity to add on additional expenses. This occurring at the most horrible time for our family, which in itself would have been tolerated but we had to let this young women remain uncremated for yet another two days since they could not see us again until Monday. This made an impossible situation all the more unbearable. The women who was our contact was simply not fit for the task Unfortunately,I have been responsible for making the arrangements for a few family members who have passed and Paul Mortuary was simply unacceptable. I am sure they often do a better job because they are still in business but its not worth the risk. I hate that i felt compelled to write this review as you can imagine.
