State Burger - Grasshopper shake

State Burger

State Burger sits in a great location on High St. near the County Courthouse. Plenty of street or…read morenearby parking. For some reason, I just recently visited this place for the first time and man -- I'm mad I didn't come sooner. I like burgers -- I like them traditional style, smashed, and with various accoutrements. The State has all of that covered. The restaurant is in a cool historic building and they've preserved some of that history while adding updates to give the place a nice and trendy feel. The staff were friendly and super helpful. You order on a piece of paper by selecting the patty type and size, the bun type and a boat load of sauces, toppings and other fixins. Reminds me of the old school way of ordering an MTO at Sheetz (for anyone that gets that reference). Beyond the burger we tried a milk shake, the fresh cut fries and onion rings. My first visit was spectacular. For two of us our bill was under $30 -- which was beyond reasonable. State Burger -- I think you've nailed it and I can't wait to come back!

Oh my goodness! What a great find! We're not from the area and were passing through on I-80 when…read morewe were getting hungry and knew we should stop soon to get a bite. My wife was looking and looking and then found this place. It sounded interesting enough so we steered off the interstate and came into town. Talk about discovering a hidden gem! We had so much fun making up our own burgers and enjoying delicious shakes! We NEED to come back again and work our way through the desert menu! Kudos to the owners on a great joint!

Creekside at the Gamble Mill - worst burger i have ever had. very dry. seasoning tasted like walmart taco kit. bun removed the cheese. tastes like a hunk of taco meat.

We stopped here on our first night in town - liked the locale, being in an historic building. When…read morewe got there, it took us a few minutes to figure out where the restaurant actually WAS - there was an event going on in another venue & I finally asked one of the people milling about in the atrium. Upon finding our way upstairs to the entrance we were seated immediately - we chose the outside patio & were the only ones outside. Our server took our drink order... however it took a while for her to return... long enough for us to wonder if we were forgotten. We were there long enough to realize it was a little too windy, so when she returned to take our food order, we asked to be moved inside. Inside was nice but it was awfully dark. On to the food - I ordered the Local Beef Tenderloin & my Girlfriend ordered the Mole Verde Duck. Again it took awhile - I believe there were staffing issues during out visit, although everyone was pleasant. The food, when it arrived was excellent although portion sizes seemed a little small for the $36 price tag for each entree. Plating was nice. We visited on a weekday evening & it was not overly busy - they may have just not been on their game that night. We did enjoy the food...

3 - Good choice if you're in the area. Skip to the end to see my rating scale…read more The three things I look for in a brewery are a dog-friendly outdoor space, accessibility to some good grub, and (of course) some quality beers. The brewery does have smallish patio outside, but when we checked in to make sure it was pet friendly we found out that they are definitely NOT. "Sorry, no dogs are allowed on the premises. I mean, it can stay in your car, but don't let it out." Bummer for sure, although that patio wasn't terribly inviting on a chilly November night anyway. Besides not allowing our creature on the patio, the staff's demeanor didn't compensate. Most of the ones we talked to seemed pretty uninterested in being there...or maybe just not interested in paying attention to someone who isn't in college. We didn't take advantage of the food opportunities, but they do have a nice menu available. So maybe the food's good, maybe it's not, but it's certainly available. And to be fair, the place was crowded on a Saturday evening, so I think it's safe to assume that it's decent. Which brings us to the beer. Enough of the beers in our flights were good enough to save the rating above a 2 on my scale. They have some variety which is always a plus...sours, hefs, stouts, and multiple IPAs. If you're into craft beer like we are, you'll likely find something you'll like. It's unlikely that we'll return because there are a couple of other breweries close by that are significantly friendlier. But if you're in the area and in the mood for a pretty good craft beer, Robin Hood is a safe choice. My rating scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here
