My son and I had a wedding reception to go to and he asked if I could find someone who could do a beard shave... I literally called everyone that came up and then I asked those shops who they would recommend if they needed a walk-in appointment same day (on a late Saturday afternoon), and where you wouldn't get blocked by a stupid online reservation system wanting to book you two weeks out! The Parlor was suggested on my 7th or 8th call, I held no hope, but then spoke to Frankie and he said, "just walk-in, I've got you!" Frankie did great job with my son, who is very particular! The irony is that they are right next door to the Original Pancake House in Poway, which is a longtime favorite breakfast spot for our family. It's clear that The Parlor has been a staple establishment in the area for a very long time and for a very good reason... Wonderful people, great work, amazing work ethic and beyond reasonable prices! Thanks for hooking us up, Frankie, we will be back! read more

Justin was such a homie. Great cuts and great vibes. Did a phenomenal job on the cut and recommended a good cream for my hair. Would go again 100% read more

Walked in on a random Friday cause the shop I normally go to was slammed. Rina took me right away and did a fade, scissor trim and lined up my beard for me. She was fast but took a lot of care of detail. I was in and out in 50 min which is great for everything she did. Stoked on the cut and beard trim. Will definitely be back. Punk rock vibe is rad. read more

My son went from never wanting his hair to be cut to asking when he can go see Justin and get a fresh cut. Justin listened to what he wanted and eased him into changing his style, gave him tips and product suggestions on how to style it even though he didn't have the right texture, Justin helped him make it work. read more

TERRIBLE place now. It didn't use to be. I loved coming to Parlor for over FOUR YEARS and we never had one issue prior to the past few months. I was with one barber the entire time until his surgery last spring, then again when he returned from it. I can only say that he's a completely different person now - and not in a good way at all. He cancelled us last minute the past FOUR appointments that we had booked weeks in advance - that's four months in a row. He did it again this morning at 6:am even though he knew we had an out of town wedding we're leaving for in the morning (we told him nearly four weeks ago). The previous cancellation was because he was sore from surfing the day before (not joking, I have the text). This time it was an ongoing car issue; and the time prior, a sudden change in his schedule right before our appointment. It's a pattern of disrespect and inconsideration that was intentionally overlooked by us until his decision not to come to work today really put us in a tight spot. Finally, his haircuts have been increasingly poor in quality since earlier in the year. We stuck with him out of loyalty and the fact he was ailing. In hindsight, it was a mistake as we should have stayed with Kelli who we used while he was out (and who was a total angel and pro). Also, the incredibly loud, redundant techno dance music, incessant talk about sports gambling and the owners kids running all over the store while he screams at them has ruined the once very chill vibe there. Speaking of the owner, he refused to even discuss the situation created by his employee. He said he wouldn't have time and didn't care that it cost him two clients who have been there for over FOUR YEARS and have left ten previous five star reviews here AND WHO LEFT HUGE TIPS EVERY TIME. Not even a discussion? Interesting customer retention scheme. Maybe I should have parlayed that with CFB or the MLB playoffs to get a minute of your time. SO AVOID THIS DOWNGRADED PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT CANCELLED APPOINTMENTS AND ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. OTHER BARBERS IN POWAY CHARGE LESS FOR MUCH BETTER CUTS WITHOUT THE DRAMA read more

I've been getting my haircut by Rina for over 5 years now. She's been at the Parlor Barber shop for a few years now. The Parlor Barber shop is my favorite spot to get a haircut. It has a really cool vibe with video posters and cool music playing. There's always a good movie playing in the background as well. Kindly offers water and a comfortable couch to sit down and wait. Pricing is fair at $20-$30 for the high quality haircut. A Skin fade is their specialty and may be a bit extra. Highly recommend. read more

Made an appt. At 9:30am. Super convenient that they are open at this time. Got Justin, he did a great job cutting my hair. Took his time and made sure we got what I wanted. Still go in and out in under 30 minutes . Fair price and great vibe. I like the TVs and music. Justin was also personable and chill. 10/10 will go again. read more

Interesting atmosphere and even more interesting barbers. Experienced craftsmen and women. Highly recommend.

Stay away from this place!!! Owner doesn't care about the quality and customer service his employee provides. And if he doesn't care, that should tell you how things are done at this shop. One of his employees cancels several times, always last minute with excuses out the ass and the quality of his cuts have gone downhill. Not worth the overpriced $35 at all. This is an unprofessional, gossip den. There's plenty other great Poway barbershops to choose from. read more

Amazing experience at the Parlor! The owner cut my son's hair and couldn't have had a better experience. He made us so comfortable and gave a great cut. Complimentary water bottles or drinks made it even better. I will definitely keep coming! read more

I scheduled an appt with Justin. The morning of the appt I get a text my appt was rescheduled by the barber shop for the following day. What makes this business think I can make it to the appt the next day at their rescheduled time? If you have a call out problem with your barber then address that but don't inconvenience the customer who wants to give you business. And if you don't care about getting more clientele, we can go elsewhere. This is most unprofessional thing I've seen. read more

Great barber shop! I've been going here for over a year to get my beard cut and every time they do an amazing job!

I moved to Poway in January and decided I wanted to get all my things done locally, from my dentist to my barbershop. Had a good experience here the first go around in February so I've come back several times since and decided to make it my regular spot. It wasn't until today, however, that the service escalated to a degree that got me jazzed up enough to write a review. Mind you - I always received a 5 star cut, but today I left feeling particularly clean. ** Much to my chagrin, I neglected to collect the young woman's name who performed the cut, I should have for the sake of myself and for the sake of this review! But for the business owner's knowledge it was the young lady manning the back left corner chair for my 10:30am appointment on 7/06 ** I arrived five minutes late, which is not up to my standard, fortunately they were still able to see me right away. I let the gal know I wanted to look "navy on the sides but not in the top" and she executed this to perfection. 15 minutes later and I felt like a new man. She was quick, precise, and provided me with a professional level cut I'm certain won't go unnoticed when I get back to the office on Monday. Having been late, I was predetermined to tip well as a courtesy, but I'd say she well earned the 66% tip and that's not coming from someone who tosses those out on the regular, Will be coming back, no surprise. read more

So I needed a haircut for a family get together and didn't have much time to plan so I went to Yelp for the rescue. I was referred to this place which is actually half the distance from my house to the normal place I go to and I think I found my new regular shop. I got a standard clipper cut and beard shave and it not only came out perfect but Kyle did it without hardly any direction. I just let him do his thing and he did it!!! Thanks for the great cut and shave. You killed it. read more

The haircuts are great, accompanied with good vibes and cool people. I would highly recommend.

Justin cut my hair and though I had a very loose idea of what I wanted, he worked with me to get an exceptional cut

I've been going to Kyle for over a year now. He's a great barber and is always on schedule.

Had to cancel an appointment today and found there were no provisions on the web site to do that. So, I wrote an e-mail 3 hours prior to the appointment to cancel and rebooked the appointment for the next day. When I got home hours after the cancelled appointment time, I received an e-mail from the barber shop stating I had been recorded on some sort of list for people who a "no shows," and I there was some mistake I should call them which I did. Basically, it was brought to my attention that I screwed up by not following their process. Truth be told their haircuts, while expensive, were just fine. But honestly, I'm not going to patronize a business that seems to feel as a customer, I'm the problem if there is one, especially when they don't have sufficient provisions to cancel appointments and don't check their communications. I'm sure there are plenty of good barber shops out there and from this point forward I will utilize one of them. read more

They do an awesome job of cutting my sons hair and the atmosphere is awesome. I'd get my own hair cut here, but I'm old and bald so really there's no point. I'd come in to have my chest and belly hair trimmed by I don't think there's a service for that. read more

Took my love here for a much needed hair cut and he came out looking handsomer than ever! Really nice and fun environment and the workers all seem to enjoy themselves. They had TVs and music going too. Highly recommend this place! He had Travis as his barber but all the other people came out with amazing cuts as well. We will definitely drive 25+ minutes out for their amazing service! read more

I hate to bad mouth, but I've been getting negative comments from loved ones all day. I ended up wearing a hat immediately after getting home. I specifically asked for a low fade. The barber cut as high as possible. He started lining up the front without me telling him to. He did not use any product or after shave. Frankly, one of the worst haircuts I have ever received. The place does have a cool vibe, and many people have great things to say, but my poor experience cannot go unnoticed. read more

Loved the service, my son got an amazing haircut. We are definitely coming back. Great service and very friendly. Kelly was amazing.

I was able to get a great haircut on Thanksgiving day. Sit back and take in all of the sports and movie posters.

Second time here, really left a bad taste for me. I made an appointment previously with someone, which I did the first time. The day comes around and I came in first before anyone. The guy acknowledged me and I proceeded to wait. Fast forward nearly an hour waiting AFTER My appointment time and someone finally says to me that they booked me for the day BEFORE. I specifically knew that my appointment time was for the day I came in on since I had appointments the day before. Fine, I acknowledge there was miscommunication somewhere. To be honest, I'm not upset about that. It happens. Despite it, I asked to be seen next since I've ALREADY been waiting an hour. THEN, They had the nerve of telling me the next appointment is an hour later. So, you're telling me that the screw up has me waiting ANOTHER hour?? Especially since you could have told me an hour before when I initially came in. This could have all been avoided if they told me so I didn't have to wait! This is completely unprofessional. Customer service is apparently not something this barbershop is familiar with. Good job, you lost repeat business. Don't have customers waiting needlessly. read more

I have been here four times now for a haircut and every time the attention to detail and quality of work has been excellent. Exceeding my expectations honestly. At one point during this last cut Travis put a hot towel on my head and pressed a light scalp message. Such a simple thing and yet I was transported to relaxation bliss. The back of the neck cleanup shave is a really nice touch that I've never experienced elsewhere. If you are looking for a quiet experience, this place may not be for you. All of the barbers talk to each other and converse like they are a close-nit family, which I don't mind at all. Other audio sources not too loud. I had no problems closing my eyes and relaxing while getting an outstanding haircut. Ten stars. read more

Gave my boyfriend probably the best haircut I've ever seen him have. So you get a 5 star review from me. He also text me excited because they gave him a Capri sun, it's the little things. Thanks! We will definitely be back! read more

I started growing my beard out ~5.5 years ago, before that, I trimmed my face and let fantastic Sam's handle h hair (when I wasn't shaving my head). Since my first time walking into the shop, nobody but Kyle has touched my hair. I've built friendships and has great times in this place, and I always look forward to my visits. The decor is great, but it's the barbers here who really make it special. There's such a great group of people working at (and owning!) this business, my favorite city shop ever! read more

Love this shop so much! I have half of my head shaved and long hair on the other. Nelly, Kyle and Jonah have all cut my hair and it's been great. I usually go with the long cut option and have Kelli cut my hair. I've seen her a couple times now and she always does a fabulous job! read more

My son loved his Covid hair so much that he decided to go full heavy metal rock star. Yesterday he said he wanted a cut-- and we were lucky to get an appointment for the weekend. Travis was awesome and came up with a perfect in-between cut. He brought up some great advice regarding my son's super straight hair and for a kid who doesn't like interacting with others to leave agreeing to return is a huge win. Thank you. read more

Jonah did a fantastic job on my 8yr old son. His technique showed how experienced he was and it was the best haircut we have had. He finished off with talking to my son about how to comb and style it and took time to genuinely care. I was blown away, definitely will recommend to friends and family. To top it off the price was right and we will be coming back. read more

My 4 year old was feeling nervous about a haircut (to the point that we almost didn't get one) Franky was incredibly patient and helped calm my sons nerves. Kyle is my guy. I always give him a mediocre description of what I want my hair to look like and he reads my mind and creates exactly what I'm thinking. Football or some cool show is always on. 100% recommend read more

I went to this place a few times, yesterday I needed a haircut and Kyle was available so I booked with him. He didn't bother to listen to what i asked. From the time I sat down to the time he said it's done, 6 minutes. The fastest haircut I've ever had and the worst one I've ever had. He messed up the left side behind the sideburn... He doesn't seem to care about the quality of his work. One thing I'm not sure about is whether he did a bad job on purpose or is he that bad in what he does. However one thing I'm sure about is that I'm not going back to that place again, plenty of better options nearby. read more
