It's been years since I've had a cut from Sal's. This visit I was helped by Thuy. She was very friendly and very efficient. I came in looking like a scrub and came out looking like a model. That's a stretch but you know what I mean. It's funny how for men, once you get a fresh cut you feel like a million bucks. Then you notice all the white hair reflecting your age. I can't complain. I've been coming here since 2002 When the Price was $7. Now It's All styles $20. Today I received the same haircut i always want, I was too relaxed and trusted the barber. Cause I never come back to ask to RE-DO my haircut. Today I tell him to be careful to cover my scar on the back of my neck,(the other barbers are familiar with me.) after we were done and showed me i was ok with it gave a tip. when i got him my car i touched the back of my neck and my hair was hanging still, so i went back for a RE-DO and the barber said something in Vietnamese with the Lady that knows me and then the barber said to me you want me to cover scar, I said yes but not leaving a hanging hair on the back of my neck. I've been coming here for 22 years or more No problem. please tell this new barber to know his customers better. Cause I am 100% a Regular Customer here. It would be a shame if I go somewhere else, i Don't mind at all. next time I will ask for another Barber i am familiar with. I can wait if they are busy. It is no problem. Love getting my haircut here. I always get a medium skin fade. Everyone there is so nice. Very friendly with good vibes and regular haircuts are $20. Every barber there is good so you don't need to be picky which is better. They are all good barbers. They have a bench where you can wait til you get called. Their is no taking a number. Love this small budget barber shop that's hidden on the side of a shopping center in Poway. It's a barber shop so I don't have much to say about it but this is a place that is fast, inexpensive, and gets the job done well. Basic haircuts here are now $10 ($11 for fades, flattops, and other special cuts) as of 2017 but it is still more affordable than your average barber shop and you can still get cuts that are just as decent and refreshing. My usually go-to is the lady in the front chair (Thuy) but they're all great. They are all so friendly, upbeat, and have a quirky sense of humor too which makes your haircuttiing endeavor more enjoyable. The shop is spacious and fairly clean too and there are plenty of chairs and magazines to keep yourself busy as you wait. There is also multiple tvs too so you can catch the local news or a sports game if you want lol. You may have to wait a little during weekends but there is usually a good amount of barbers on hand every day so it's never too long. I definitely recommend Sal's Budget Barber shop if you want a fresh cut without breaking the bank. read more

Came here a week ago and they don't seem to understand English. We asked for not too short on top and more shorter on the side. She cut everything even and way too short on the top. You would think service would be better since price went up. If she didn't understand at least ask us while she was cutting but nothing. Boyfriend gets his haircut here. There's a specific person he heads to who is usually in the back and we got lucky during the weekend where he was not as busy. I like Sal's for a number of reasons. First, is that I really have no wait when I go. Even if it is Sunday afternoon, I still only have to wait for about 10-15 minutes. Plus, the cuts are always good looking and the price is totally reasonable. There's plenty of parking and a lot of barbers on hand to help keep the lines to a minimum. i've been going here for over 20 years. I don't trust anyone but these barbers to cut my hair. Every once and a while, patience is helpful when explaining your cut, as english is not the staff's first language, but that doesn't matter at all. the cut, price, and timing (include wait time) is worth it. i started comnn in my at $7 hair cuts and the pandemic clearly inflated the price, but you can't get this good of a haircut for $20 elsewhere, and that is with your $5 tip. hope they stay strong. read more

I like this place. The stylist are friendly and the place is clean. More importantly my haircut was great. I just get a #2 guard and clean up the back and sides. I usually go to the PQ Barber but every now and then they cut my neck. Not this place. I'll be coming here from now on. read more

Ahh Sal's Budget Barber Shop. I have been going here for cheap haircuts for years now. $7 for a guys haircut is pretty decent. They have done a good job whenever I have gone in. The only time I ever had an issue was with an old lady arguing I wanted a step cut when I kept saying tapered in the back. I love coming here because they always cut in the way I like it and I suggest you get your hair done by one of the ladies there (to be they do a better job). I know I can't expect too much, but it really pissed me off when the person who cut my hair was extremely rude in talking to me (didn't understand him cause of his poor English, so I asked him to repeat). But okay, I'll live with that. During the middle of my haircut though, he freaking just stops, busts out his phone, and takes a step outside the door to try and take a picture of a group of kids who just got their hair buzzed the exact same way as some team bonding activity. That was the easiest sale they made. Maybe it was poor timing on my part, but you don't just stop and totally ignore a customer right in the middle. I'll take my haircuts elsewhere. +1.5 for speed, +.5 for a meh haircut. read more

My neighbor has been going to Sals for years. I went there for the first time when the Library Plaza Barber Shop was closed (again). I asked for a trim because I'm trying to grow out my hair. However, I got a cut (about two months growth on the floor...very dissapointed). Maybe she didn't understand English? If I go again, I will insist that they don't use clippers. read more

So there's new mangement. the old cranky asian guy is gone! Woo hoo! The new manager built new cabinets and replace almost everything! It's extrodinarily clean and fresh! When i step inside, I am greeted with a friendly "hello".
