It's been years since I've had a cut from Sal's. This visit I was helped by Thuy. She was very friendly and very efficient. I came in looking like a scrub and came out looking like a model. That's a stretch but you know what I mean. It's funny how for men, once you get a fresh cut you feel like a million bucks. Then you notice all the white hair reflecting your age. I can't complain. Thanks Thuy for the excellent service. I wouldn't hesitate to drop in here again in the future. Remember to tip well! read more

They do a good job. If your'e looking for styling, your'e probably in the wrong spot. They cut hair. They do it well. Look at the pics. The price was in the window. $8!!. Now, it's $22 with a tip. Ah, the good ole days. read more

I've been coming here since 2002 When the Price was $7. Now It's All styles $20. Today I received the same haircut i always want, I was too relaxed and trusted the barber. Cause I never come back to ask to RE-DO my haircut. Today I tell him to be careful to cover my scar on the back of my neck,(the other barbers are familiar with me.) after we were done and showed me i was ok with it gave a tip. when i got him my car i touched the back of my neck and my hair was hanging still, so i went back for a RE-DO and the barber said something in Vietnamese with the Lady that knows me and then the barber said to me you want me to cover scar, I said yes but not leaving a hanging hair on the back of my neck. I've been coming here for 22 years or more No problem. please tell this new barber to know his customers better. Cause I am 100% a Regular Customer here. It would be a shame if I go somewhere else, i Don't mind at all. next time I will ask for another Barber i am familiar with. I can wait if they are busy. It is no problem. Thank you for your time i think management should be aware of the guys attitude that i think was rude. I was not happy. i feel like i got a bad haircut. hopefully next experience will be better. On top of that He forgot to do my sideburns. read more

Love getting my haircut here. I always get a medium skin fade. Everyone there is so nice. Very friendly with good vibes and regular haircuts are $20. Every barber there is good so you don't need to be picky which is better. They are all good barbers. They have a bench where you can wait til you get called. Their is no taking a number. They know who is next. Plus you can tell who goes next. read more

Sal's Budget Barber Shops - Sal's Barbershop - Barbers Near Me - Poway, California

The best place in the area to get a great haircut at a decent price. The place is clean and comfortable. The staff is super friendly and professional. read more

Nice neighborhood barbershop that does no frills hair cut for inexpensive haircut. Highly recommend if you're a guy that just want few inches off the top or all around. read more

Since 1990, Sal's in Poway has been keeping me as handsome as possible (considering the obvious challenges). They are always efficient, friendly and skillful. I've always enjoyed my brief visits to their shop, and missed them during their forced closure for the pandemic. It's very nice to have them BACK! T.M. Scripps Ranch read more

Love this small budget barber shop that's hidden on the side of a shopping center in Poway. It's a barber shop so I don't have much to say about it but this is a place that is fast, inexpensive, and gets the job done well. Basic haircuts here are now $10 ($11 for fades, flattops, and other special cuts) as of 2017 but it is still more affordable than your average barber shop and you can still get cuts that are just as decent and refreshing. My usually go-to is the lady in the front chair (Thuy) but they're all great. They are all so friendly, upbeat, and have a quirky sense of humor too which makes your haircuttiing endeavor more enjoyable. The shop is spacious and fairly clean too and there are plenty of chairs and magazines to keep yourself busy as you wait. There is also multiple tvs too so you can catch the local news or a sports game if you want lol. You may have to wait a little during weekends but there is usually a good amount of barbers on hand every day so it's never too long. I definitely recommend Sal's Budget Barber shop if you want a fresh cut without breaking the bank. read more

Came here a week ago and they don't seem to understand English. We asked for not too short on top and more shorter on the side. She cut everything even and way too short on the top. You would think service would be better since price went up. If she didn't understand at least ask us while she was cutting but nothing. So far only one of the ladies does the best haircuts, while I see people were waiting for her. Would not be going back. read more

I've been getting haircuts here since I was in 10th grade. I then strayed when I went to SC and started going to salons. I'm done. A 10 buck haircut and then tip will have you better off than a 40-70 dollar salon cut. No kidding. Excellent work Sophia! read more

Boyfriend gets his haircut here. There's a specific person he heads to who is usually in the back and we got lucky during the weekend where he was not as busy. It was about a 15~20 minute haircut, and my man looked a lot more refreshed after with short hair and a nice fade. On the window said $8 for a haircut - so price looks pretty decent too. read more

I've been a regular customer for years- since it was $6 now it's $11. Good haircuts, reasonable price. Pleasant barbers. Usually not too crowded- except on weekends. read more

I'm a regular at this barber and I never found anything wrong with this place. The people are nice and the haircuts are clean with a reasonable price! read more

Very flexible with time. Good price for decent haircuts. Not bad and not good. Average barber for good price. Doesn't speak with customers that much. read more

Great barbershop! No wait! Nice and friendly service. Cheap! $9.00! My husband loved his haircut. He will be back!

I like Sal's for a number of reasons. First, is that I really have no wait when I go. Even if it is Sunday afternoon, I still only have to wait for about 10-15 minutes. Plus, the cuts are always good looking and the price is totally reasonable. There's plenty of parking and a lot of barbers on hand to help keep the lines to a minimum. There are televisions with sports on to top it off. read more

Just got my haircut from Jenny on a Thursday and she gave me a nice fade with hard part. She was very nice and there was no line whatsoever. Price is very reasonable too! Going to come back again. read more

i've been going here for over 20 years. I don't trust anyone but these barbers to cut my hair. Every once and a while, patience is helpful when explaining your cut, as english is not the staff's first language, but that doesn't matter at all. the cut, price, and timing (include wait time) is worth it. i started comnn in my at $7 hair cuts and the pandemic clearly inflated the price, but you can't get this good of a haircut for $20 elsewhere, and that is with your $5 tip. hope they stay strong. read more

This hidden gem is great. Their prices are inexpensive, and their customer service is outstanding. They have plenty of chairs and employees available, therefore waiting is not an issue. Plus, walk-ins are welcomed! read more

The best. Cutters are super pleasant and nice; work is precise and efficient, all at a reasonable price.

C'mon now....where else can you get a decent 11 buck haircut...Sals is the spot..great staff..what's fun too is watching the big gals go to the weight watchers next door then you see a few of them at the winchels donut shop after their meetings...lol read more

I like this place. The stylist are friendly and the place is clean. More importantly my haircut was great. I just get a #2 guard and clean up the back and sides. I usually go to the PQ Barber but every now and then they cut my neck. Not this place. I'll be coming here from now on. read more

Ahh Sal's Budget Barber Shop. I have been going here for cheap haircuts for years now. $7 for a guys haircut is pretty decent. They have done a good job whenever I have gone in. The only time I ever had an issue was with an old lady arguing I wanted a step cut when I kept saying tapered in the back. I have not seen her in a long time so looks like things are on the up and up for this place. Worth going to if you need a good cheap haircut and aren't looking for anything fancy. read more

This place is great for quick n cheap haircuts. The quality of the haircut is not really there. I used to go all thru out my youth and got my hair messed up several times. If u atleast come here, go to the same person. Good for military cuts and simple buzzes read more

Thuy does an outstanding job. She's in the first chair. I'm super picky and thank goodness I found my new barber. Love her.

Come here if you want something fast, cheap, and a place where they cut your hair well. I love coming here because they always cut in the way I like it and I suggest you get your hair done by one of the ladies there (to be they do a better job). The location is great because it's close to the CVS, Middle Eastern supermarket (North Park Produce), Coffee Bean, Starbucks, and etc. I also recommend giving them tips. read more

This is the best spot to get medium fade and get lined up in North county. Ask for Ken and he will hook it up. Don't go to sports clips or super cuts. They are way over priced and don't give great haircuts. GO TO SAL's read more

I know I can't expect too much, but it really pissed me off when the person who cut my hair was extremely rude in talking to me (didn't understand him cause of his poor English, so I asked him to repeat). But okay, I'll live with that. During the middle of my haircut though, he freaking just stops, busts out his phone, and takes a step outside the door to try and take a picture of a group of kids who just got their hair buzzed the exact same way as some team bonding activity. That was the easiest sale they made. Maybe it was poor timing on my part, but you don't just stop and totally ignore a customer right in the middle. I'll take my haircuts elsewhere. +1.5 for speed, +.5 for a meh haircut. read more

My neighbor has been going to Sals for years. I went there for the first time when the Library Plaza Barber Shop was closed (again). I asked for a trim because I'm trying to grow out my hair. However, I got a cut (about two months growth on the floor...very dissapointed). Maybe she didn't understand English? If I go again, I will insist that they don't use clippers. read more

I told the barber NOT to shave my sides. Not only did he shave the sides he gave me a real short haircut. I wont be going back to this shop. read more

Great place. Nice, clean, and fast. Google maps has location wrong. It's right next to Winchells.

Friendly service. Fast. Basic cuts. Inexpensive. I think they make me and my boys look pretty good, but I'm not too picky.

I thought I would give this location another try and I had the same bad experience as I did a few months ago. My perception is they do not like repeat customers. Same rudeness on not taking customers in the order they come in when asked. Beware of budget haircuts. read more

this place reminded me of the MiraMesa Barber shop i used to go to, all asians and one token barber... but man the first time I got my hair did here the dude was on his cell phone most of the time speaking AZN.. and in my head i was thinking, this guy is going to fuck up and i will not tip.... nope, at the end i came out looking fly like a G6, so pretty good and i continue to go to this dude... read more

This place have me the worst haircut of my life. I'm so pissed off. I had a very important event to get to and decided to go somewhere new that was close to home. This was the biggest mistake I ever made. I decided not to go where I needed to because my hair was so ridiculous. I left without paying and the manager had no problem with that after seeing what the barber had done. Don't make the same mistake I did!!!! read more

Great place to get a haircut. Can't beat the price and they are very quick here as well. Always have a pleasant experience.

Worst place. This guy is very rude to the customers. He says he is too busy to fix the hair properly. He just wants money. Avoid this place and don't get insulted. read more

Great place for a consistently good haircut. Been to Sal's several times and always get a good haircut and pleasant service. A plus is that Sal is fun to talk with, too. read more

So there's new mangement. the old cranky asian guy is gone! Woo hoo! The new manager built new cabinets and replace almost everything! It's extrodinarily clean and fresh! When i step inside, I am greeted with a friendly "hello". The barbers are amazing, they get all my requests right and the ladies smell delightful~ I tip generously, because their service is unbeatable. Sure, back in 2011 the shop was terrible. But since that new manager stepped foot into the place, its like she worked magic! read more
