My young adult son and I unexpectedly found ourselves in Syracuse for 2 nights and totally lucked out with booking The Parkview Hotel via Expedia. Not only did we get a great deal on our double room with safe, self-parking immediately behind the hotel (included!) but were blown away by how nice (brand new!) our room was and the work-friendly lobby with many, large windows, generous breakfast offerings (6:30-10 am) in a cozy dining room, the gym and laundry facilities. The staff, esp. Kevin and Javon, were really helpful and made our stay wonderful. Please note this hotel is switching from being a Best Western to a Hampton property ("Fall 2026") and has minor renovations going on that affects the back egress/ingress but otherwise did not phase us. read more

First room had a broken door hinge, so the receptionist upgraded us to a suite because it was the only other available room. However, that room was never cleaned after whoever checked out. The receptionist was very kind to call other hotels for availability as it was already 2 am and also refunded our stay. But we would not come back to this hotel after this experience. read more

We stayed one night here en route to Niagara Falls. We booked a room with a kitchenette but the term is a bit misleading bc there's a microwave and mini fridge but no stove top so just be mindful of that. The front staff was helpful and the daily breakfast is ok- eggs，DIY waffles, yogurts, etc. Some minor things were a little annoying, like our bathroom having a roll of toilet paper that was almost run out and the dish detergent almost being empty. Overall, it's an okay place to stay en route somewhere but that's about it. read more

Recently renovated king room. No coffee maker in the room. No shelves in the shower no toilet paper holder and AC basically didnt work. I have never stayed in a hotel that did not have a coffee maker in the room. Literally I've never stayed in a hotel room that didn't have a coffee maker in the room. 1 elevator out of service. Had to go downstairs for coffee, which there was none made, and had to wait for the attendant to make a pot of coffee. Was told specifically coffee makers are only available in the suites. Basic essentials would be climate control and morning coffee in the room. Breakfast was premade omelette and sliced ham. No yogurt or fresh fruit options. The gentleman working the front was doing his best but seemed overwhelmed. I am leaving this review in the hopes they will correct some of these issues. read more

I had extra charges on my account. I made my reservations through Agoda (couldn't remember when driving home, upset about the extra charges). I had a charge from them and a direct POS charge from the hotel, which the bank handled. The hotel denied it was them, even though the bank statement showed otherwise. The manager seemed to try to help, but kept stating it was from Expedia. I do not know if she was honest in her cluelessness. Expedia told me they're scapegoats all the time. I'm not sure who to believe. The manager showed me an Expedia PARTNER database. I assume it may be a central PARTNER database with Expedia, but she kept saying 'Expedia'. I called Expedia, and they stated it was not from them. Agoda stated they only had the one original charge. I never made a reservation that night with Expedia. I don't care in the end as long as it disappears. However, I am not sure of the honesty there. Next, when we checked in, we were with other families, and we had to wait a long time in the front doorway for someone to come. Then, when 3 of us checked in, we were given a dirty room. The family behind us was given the same dirty room as ours, even though it was STILL assigned to us. The front desk kid said he should fire the cleaning person for lying about the rooms, as he was unprofessional. The cleaning staff is also not the one who put two families in one dirty room. He did give us a clean room after, but I still wonder if that is the direct POS charge from the hotel. I never leave reviews unless it's a great or bad stay. I will stick with Marriott for now and not try to save a buck. read more

Booked here based on other reviews and it was just ok. Beds were terrible...we didn't have good sleep. Lucky for us It was only one night. They offer free breakfast but we didn't eat there. Also the TV wasn't hooked up correctly so my husband had to do some wiring. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient. read more

Visiting Syrcuse for the first time and staying at the parkview hotel, can't say enough about this place. The staff is amazing. Everyone of them, they go over and beyond to make your stay comfortable. We joke with each other. Jess, has helped in every way, Makla(spell) so so sweet willing to do whatever to make us comfortable, Salena(I think) oh my she is wonderful. All 3 ladies are truly GREAT . Even Tony. I will be coming back to stay at parkview. Thank you ladies for making our stay so complete. read more

Something seriously wrong with this hotel! In January (5 months ahead of the stay at the Parkview) I booked and fully prepaid for three rooms for Syracuse University graduation weekend in May. I paid for the rooms directly through the hotel website as was their policy for graduation weekend. I could not even make the reservation without prepaying in full. I received confirmation from the Parkview confirming the reservation and payment. Four days before check in in May I received a call from the manager Paige saying I needed to give her my credit card number and pay again or they were cancelling my rooms. I sent her emails with the confirmations they had sent me and she demanded copies of my January credit card receipts showing I'd already been charged and paid (I also emailed these to her). I called her several times after sending the documentation and she said I was good and no problem. However, at check in she claimed amnesia to the whole previous four days calls and emails and said my rooms were not paid for and I had to pay again or she was giving my rooms to someone else. I had copies of the email exchange which she claimed she never read and she said the only way I was getting the rooms was to pay again and then she said I should refute the additional charges with my credit card company (that was the only option she gave for us to be able to have the rooms -pay again and refute the charges with our credit card company). She knew we had no choice because Syracuse graduation weekend all the hotels are fully booked. I definitely felt scammed. I gave my credit card and refuted it with my credit card company so we would have rooms to stay in for the weekend. She ended up charging my card additional thousands $$$$ on top of what I had already paid back in January and much more than their actual room rate. My credit card company is investigating this hotel. read more

Check in was at 3 , we had a concert to go to and figured we can check in early ! Nope , they told us they would call us when our room was ready ! Check in was at 3 , they called us at 4:30 to tell us our room was ready ! Went to breakfast at 9am and there was nothing left ! Then housekeeping knocked on our door and asked us when we were leaving , check out was a noon ! Room was really nice and the shower was awesome read more

Nice quant older hotel. Great location. The only issues were, no blanket on bed; as my wife tends to get cold at night (I had to purchase a blanket for our two night stay). The other issue...Jessica! Her tone and attitude during check-in were needlessly curt, bordering on sarcastic. It set the wrong tone for my stay. A hotel lobby should feel like a welcome mat, not a cold shoulder. It's disappointing when professionalism and hospitality are missing at the very first touchpoint. read more

I got this hotel for a one night stay business trip and through a 3rd party booking site. I could tell by the photos that the hotel is an older hotel but I don't expect it to be that outdated. I didn't see many amenities other than free coffee, tea, and water and free parking in the back. My room upon arrival was dirty and there was hair on the bed, on the towels, and on the shower wall. The large mirror and tv were dirty with some sort of dried splatter. The room had a dresser, iron, ironing board, tv, microwave, desk, and sitting chair. Overpriced and would not stay here again. 2 read more

We stayed here in 2019 and had a wonderful experience, the servive, ammenites and comfort of the mattress/pillow was great. Now 3 years later, a few things have gone downhill. We had a smaller room despite it being a king size, there was only 1 side table for example, so if two people are sleeping in the bed one of them will not have any room to place anything on their bedside, and won't have their own reading lamp or switch which can be quite annoying. The mattress we got 3 years ago was a firm spring type mattress and this time it felt like a lump cloud that was extremely soft and sunken in. I previously had some thin pillows to choose from and this time we only had thick ones which were far too high for my head. Due to covid, there is a lack of service - the rooms are only cleaned upon request, even at check in, we noticed our bathroom was lacking many towels. Very small bath towels, no bath mat and no face towels. I realised that the lobby did have a shelf with some supplies we could take for ourselves but this should have been told to us at the beginning as it is only when I hopped in the shower, I realised what was missing. Overall comfort is down - it is unfortunate that not all rooms have the same beds or layout. If you are paying for a king room you would expect to receive the same type of room but it was significantly smaller than our last stay. Another drawback was the lack of breakfast, this facility used to serve a delicious hot breakfast before covid but there is no absolutely no food served now. There is self serve coffee in the lobby and that's all. It would have been nice to at least have some grab and go bags, but this was not offered either. Sadly for similar price I'll book elsewhere next time as the experience is really inconsistent. read more

What a great surprise for a random choice from the Expedia app on the fly, since we didn't know how far we'd drive that day. Graceful old-fashioned lobby, tasteful decoration in the original style of the hotel (I suspect Home Depot). Room was comfy and clean (the whole place was spotless) including lots of towels and hangers. Hotel clerk had a great suggestion for a local diner that delivered for free! Only downside was the back door ramp, which was extremely steep and left little room for the doors (both had to be unlocked with hotel key) to open without the baggage cart careening down said ramp. It's retrofit into the old building, clearly. God help you if you had to maneuver a wheelchair or walker up or down it. The front entrance has stairs! On the upside: free parking, convenient location, clean, comfortable, seemed to be a safe location, good price. I'd definitely stay there again, and try to bring in only as much as I could carry in one trip. read more

If you are looking for a great place to stay in the Cuse that is in a central location to Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse University and the famous Marshall St - look no further than The Parkview Hotel. The facility is non-smoking (a plus for me). Free parking- very accommodating staff. And very affordable. The hotel has a lot of character- a very cute, classical old school vibe- with modern amenities. My room was a suite so I had a kitchenette w/microwave, dishes a fridge and a sink. The hotel also has a workout room in the basement. The only thing that is a "negative" is there is no breakfast- however there are breakfast places close by and fresh coffee all day long! I will be staying here every time I come to Cuse for now on and you should too! Enjoy friends! read more

Honestly a fantastic place to stay! I'm sad we didn't stay more than one night, but I definitely know where I'm going to look for a room next time I'm in Syracuse! My cousin and I were heading into town for a concert and this was the hotel she booked. It was a slightly less expensive price than the hotel right next door. She'd looked for something close to our concert venue specifically, and this place was not even a 2-minute drive to the War Memorial Arena. We checked in around 5pm when we arrived in town, and everything was pretty smooth! I was really impressed by the semi-art deco style features this place has (like the elevator, rotary telephone in the hall, and the sink hardware in the bathrooms...I know, who notices these things?). Our room had two beds, nice tv, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, all the basics of a hotel room. Everything from our room and all the way down to the public areas was incredibly clean. I was particularly impressed by how comfortable the bed was! Usually hotel beds are incredibly stiff but the ones here were so comfortable and warm, I slept like a baby after a long night of rocking out at the concert. I almost didn't want to get out of bed the next morning. They have free breakfast, but it only runs from around 6-9am, so we were a little disappointed after stumbling out of bed late, but we were able to walk to a cafe nearby to grab some food. Definitely doesn't put a damper on my experience at this hotel! I'm really hoping I get the chance to visit Syracuse again just so I can stay here! read more

Clean, affordable, about a 20 minute walk to the Syracuse Dome, and has a delicious free breakfast. What more could you ask for from a hotel?! This is our go-to hotel when we are heading to a basketball game. I would highly recommend it! Tip- Call the hotel directly to make reservations. They will give you the best rate, and if you need to cancel for whatever reason, there is no penalty. read more

What an awesome little hotel! My wife and I had a great night at this location. Convenient location to downtown and the Uni as well. Definitely a lot nicer on the inside than it seems to be on the outside, and free parking was a great perk as well. read more

Customer service is a joke. And manager is Kim. Made a reservation through Booking.com, they're systems were down. Fancy that. Tried to relay to the "front desk clerk" that I am from out of town and need a room. They replied "your reservation is for the 4th." I responded with " today is the 4th. Why would I make a reservation for a day that is in the past." I needed a room for that night, I informed them. The manager told the clerk on the phone that they had "no vacancy and to please leave." Great guest service. Top notch. So, if you are in the area and need a room for the evening, go elsewhere or down the street. They will accommodate you unlike this inhospitable sack of old potatoes. read more

I have to first start out by talking about the customer service. This morning I had the opportunity to speak with David and guest services as well as Gwen. I needed to modify my mother's room arrangement and they were so accommodating professional and helpful. I was most impressed with the high level of customer service. The rooms have been recently renovated are bright clean and Shira funny. I love the bathroom floor the black-and-white honeycomb and they have managed to maintain the antique charm of this older building. I also had the privilege of speaking with Troy with guest services When my mother checked in today. It was extremely helpful and kind and professional and maintained a client centered approach. The TV was not working in her room and Troy was very good about getting it fixed quickly. Overall I am very impressed with this hotel. read more

The hotel is a historic building, located in the University area. The façade of the hotel is beautiful. The hotel has an old style lobby, very small. The hotel offers free parking and free breakfast. We stayed in room 608, which has an outside view (of the parking lot though). The room is very spacious and comfortable. It has beautiful plantation shutters on the windows. It's one of the few hotels where you can actually get the AC very cold. Also, it's one of the few hotels where they give you enough places to put your luggage on and keep it off the floor: one luggage rack, two Ottomans, and a chest. The bed was very comfortable, with the double sheet system of all white linens. The bathroom is very large, and it is one of the few hotels that gives you plenty of places to hang your towels: a rack inside the shower, a rack outside the shower, and a hook behind the door. read more

I would definitely stay here again. The rooms are a little outdated, but I am a huge fan of the vintage looking bathrooms. The hotel is clean for the most part and nicely decorated. The breakfast buffet is great, with enough vegetarian options. I am deducting a star because 1) the gym set up feels a little unsafe, the treadmills face the wall and when you're on them you have no view of what's going on behind you, including who's coming in and out. My suggestion would be to replicate the mirror wall that is on the door side of the gym to the other end as well. 2) the a/c doesn't really cool the room down, I was here with two coworkers who stayed in different rooms and experienced the same issue 3) I had no food but yet there were a couple flies in my room. This would not keep me from staying here again, and I would recommend this hotel. read more

Really like a 3.5 but this hotel was cool. It was really the updated version of and old hotel. So here are the good things: Clean, smelled good, had that new feeling, and it was a nice size. What I didn't like: what's the point of a double headed shower when you have a paper thin shower curtain. -_- The lights were all yellow and dim. It was clear sign or wear and tear on the door, and toilet. The HBO wasn't even working, the breakfast was pointless-like if you aren't going to try your best then just don't. One elevator worked and that becomes a problem when the cleaning has to use the same elevator. read more

Very nice hotel and great staff. Clean rooms and easy parking too. The only two issues that they really need to work on is having a list in the rooms with restaurants doing delivery orders sine the hotel does not have a restaurant in. I booked a room directly with this hotel for Syracuse University family weekend. I received a confirmation email and they had successfully put through a charge on my credit card to verify the account. I received an email the next day saying that they won't honor my confirmed reservation- that their system was overloaded so I should just go to Expedia to find a new hotel room. Syracuse hotels fill up VERY fast for family wekeend and there is also a conference happening that weekend, so to find out a day later that I need to find another hotel room put me at a major disadvantage. They did not offer to call other hotels on my behalf as a professional courtesy, they literally just said sorry, go find another place. Am dumbfounded by the lack of customer service. I was able to secure another hotel room but I now have to pay $1,374 instead of the original booking I had for $613. I have been in situations before where a hotel I was staying at had an overbooking situation but they took responsibility for thier error and they called on my behalf to local hotels to secure other accocomations at a comperable rate. This hotel didn't go the extra mile to rectify thier mistake, even when asked, am disappointed and I wouldn't recommend this hotel. read more

An excellent hotel for the price and the location with only a few remarks. But significant remarks since I come to an hotel to have a good nights rest and I will be carrying luggage. My remarks are about that. The room are very spacious and clean. The bathroom has an innovative double showerhead. Nice! The breakfast was what you can expect. Not fancy, not bad. Parking is free. The remarks I have consider the bed and the entrance. To start with the latter: the back entrance was closed for repair so we had to use to only working entrance on the street side. Starting with 2 doors that both didn't open automatically. Not very convenient with a lot of luggage. And then you encounter some staircases. Not many, but not very handy. This can be done better! Then the most important remark: the beds are way too short. Being a remake of average European height I could only fit in crossed over the matrass. The first time we had to use both Queens because we just didn't fit in. Because you probably guess that my tall Dutch love had bigger problems. And excuse any grammar and spelling mistakes. English is not my first language. And if that's not bad enough, Apple keeps changing the English words into 'proper Dutch'. Yes, you guess right, my first language. read more

worst hotel I've ever stayed in. the lady at the desk told me, there are no extra pillows, no extra blankets because 80 percent of the rooms are full. we are paying $370 a night for this room and this is unacceptable. this is the worst service I've ever experienced and obviously the hotel itself is not made to withstand capacity let alone satisfy clients expectations. Definitely one star rating and will not come back. would not recommend to anyone who needs to stay in this city. read more

My wife and I had terrific stay in this boutique hotel near the city center. The hotel is obviously older (1920s) but has recently undergone a fabulous renovation. All rooms look to have been redone and bathrooms are original octagonal tile (black and white motif). While the original windows are deeply recessed and covered with working wooden blinds, they can be opened and even removed, if desired. I got a great deal on Priceline which included breakfast. While not extensive, there is something hot every day (they even once had biscuits and gravy ... yum!) in addition to standard continental fare (cereals, toast, pastries, etc). While some might be turned off by the area (much of downtown Syracuse is rather depressed, evidence by run-down buildings and a number of homeless people, a couple of whom were seen in the park across the street when we arrived around 11 pm), the hotel is VERY secure and the parking lot is regularly patrolled. We will DEFINITELY stay here the next time we visit. read more

Found this while en route to Canada. Stopped off to break up the ride at around 2 AM. Immediately, they told me they would give me a discounted rate because I was checking in so late. They did VERY well in that regard, about half of what the Crowne Plaza was going to charge next door. Parking was free behind the building in a well lit parking lot. Room was very spacious and clean, complete with mini fridge and HDTV. 2 full/queen beds. Breakfast was included, and did include a small hot buffet (eggs, sausage, and what I know only as SOS.) Absolutely would stay here again and recommend this. Coupled with it being near 100 years old and you have a very good find. read more

I was quite impressed w/ The Park View Hotel. The rooms are SPACIOUS and the bathrooms are quite interesting (they have a homely feel). Their amenities are great too (honey & vanilla scented. Mm!) A gentleman working the front desk the night we checked in was somewhat slow in informing us about the hotel shuttle that we had called for, so that was a bit unfortunate, but I understand there's only one person working the desk. I don't know how the Genese compares to the Park View but given they're run by the same management/company, I'd say they're both probably very similar.
