An emergency left me in the ER with doctors and nurses asking me whether a small piece of dried yellowish paint was acrylic or oil, artist or other-- I had no idea. The only thing I could think to do was hurry to an art store and ask if they knew. My first stop was Michael's and the glazed over distant look in the employees eyes told me that I was wasting my time there. My brother-in-law shops at Riverside Art so I thought "what the Hell..." After just a few minutes of crumbling, smelling, and diluting they were able, with 100% confidence, to tell me exactly what kind of paint it was. Because of the strange color they were even able to give me a specific brand. Not too bad when all I brought them was a piece of dried paint and a whole lot of anxiety. Very disappointed recently - paid for a custom mounting of a canvas print - I gave careful instructions on my request - when i went to pick it up, I found that the image on the print was bent around the edges of the underlying frame. The painted image just ends in space - When I mentioned this, the young lady was dismissive - " these things get stretched when they get mounted" - Understood. So they actually mounted it on a framework that was too small. Too bad for me. I don't think it is reparable. I dont mind if mistakes are made. Just be respectful.
