An emergency left me in the ER with doctors and nurses asking me whether a small piece of dried yellowish paint was acrylic or oil, artist or other-- I had no idea. The only thing I could think to do was hurry to an art store and ask if they knew. My first stop was Michael's and the glazed over distant look in the employees eyes told me that I was wasting my time there. My brother-in-law shops at Riverside Art so I thought "what the Hell..." After just a few minutes of crumbling, smelling, and diluting they were able, with 100% confidence, to tell me exactly what kind of paint it was. Because of the strange color they were even able to give me a specific brand. Not too bad when all I brought them was a piece of dried paint and a whole lot of anxiety. They took a genuine interest in my problem and did the best they could to help me-- for that I am very appreciative and have been recommending them to everyone who asks me about art or framing.

Very disappointed recently - paid for a custom mounting of a canvas print - I gave careful instructions on my request - when i went to pick it up, I found that the image on the print was bent around the edges of the underlying frame. The painted image just ends in space - When I mentioned this, the young lady was dismissive - " these things get stretched when they get mounted" - Understood. So they actually mounted it on a framework that was too small. Too bad for me. I don't think it is reparable. I dont mind if mistakes are made. Just be respectful.

The office staff are so nice and will rush a pickup order for you at any time. Now, this is by no means a retail store. Their offices are really just administrative staff and order processors so you'll have to do your shopping and browsing either online or in their catalog. They ship every where but if you're in the Fall River area, you can pick your order up to avoid shipping fees. I highly recommend you peruse their website, it's a great resource for not only textile supplies but they also have hundreds of instructional pamphlets that you can download and print for free.

Fabric takes up approximately one third of the space in this small location. I have generally been able to find what I need when I'm here but its not the products that detract from the experience. Their customer service could use an upgrade. When you are at the cutting counter there is a lot of sighing and negative facial expressions. Even when the store seems empty there's a line of people waiting and waiting. The speed with which things are conducted here does not improve when trying to check out. Often, there are not enough staff on the registers. On my most recent visit, there was one person working the register with 6 or so people in front of me. I waited a very long time to make my purchase... so long that I almost considered leaving my items behind. Whats worse is there were two other employees hanging out by the cutting counter, chatting. I had seen one of them at the registers when I first walked in so that would not have prevented them from coming to help out. Frustrating, as this is something that happens consistently. Fortunately, I do not have to rely on this location as there are other craft stores closer to me. When I need to stop here though, I wish things were improved a bit.

Because the store is small, if you go there for something in particular the selection may seem limited (depending on what you're seeking). That said, It is pretty rare that they don't have something I'm looking for. There are some advantages to the smaller space. It is easy to find what you need, without having to ask for help (like I find I have to do at larger craft supply stores). When you do need help, the staff are knowledgeable and eager to assist.
