They had…read morea really big selection of art supplies and it was so refreshing to walk in to a real mom and Pop art store, And they've been here for over 30 years! They had a lot of different types of premium paints including oil paint, acrylic paint and watercolor paint, and others. Also many different types of premium and economy paintbrushes many varieties and brands. And the owner came and helped me. She was explaining to me all the different paintbrushes, and I felt so happy that she cared that much to help me find what I was looking for. They also have pan pastels which you don't find in stores very much And a really big selection. Also different types of water colors. They had pigment powders, gold leaf, alcohol inks, markers section, clays . They also had a nice selection of canvases with different sizes. So one of the reasons I came because I heard they gave classes here, which is very exciting, you can definitely tell this is a place where the community comes and talks about art and enjoys other artist company. Because everybody that worked there was so helpful and friendly and very warm and welcoming. I'll definitely come back again when I'm in the area!

In my occasional dealings with the big box stores when buying paint, there were often questions they couldn't answer. However, at Venice Paints, Billy is very well-informed and would recommend alternative products if there was a better fit for the project as well as colour recommendations. The last time I was there, I waited while the two employees finished talking to each other about personal things before even calling me up to the register to ring me up. It was a bit rude and she didn't even thank me or even attempt to make small talk. It is also small, cramped and has no planner section, forcing me to not be able to grab any of the Joanne's only items. I wanted to find out if they had a community room a week ago, so I called a few times, never once anyone answering the phone. Order online if you need to make a Joanne's purchase and stay away from the Venice store.

Took home something unexpected though, our own art! Deborah suggested a 1.5 hour stencil art session. We went for it and the time flew by, we had so much fun. She was patient and encouraging, explaining the stencil colors that would make sense given our base coat colors, and brought out dozens of stencils and had hundreds of colors to choose from; excellent instruction. The open 2nd story balcony and jazzy music added to the ambiance. I highly recommend stopping by! This would be a great introduction to art for any age or anyone looking to have some hands on fun! I am on vacation and had to send a package out from the USPS on their lower level. The gentleman got up and said NO, I DON'T KNOW YOU in a mean angry voice. If someone is that quick to say NO and that nasty doing it, they don't deserve anyone's business. I ended up at the Waterfront Restaurant, the hostess Tammy said that they were actually in the middle of fixing their printer but if I had about 15 minutes they would be glad to help. I ended up bringing our group of 7 to the restaurant that night and we all loved the food and the service was great. Shame on you Artspace for being so rude because you didn't know me.
