The overall icy reception every time I've been in the store is off putting. I feel like I'm interrupting them? Not friendly in other words. I made a beautiful needlepoint that I brought to them to have made into a pillow. I went into the store 2 months later (same icy reception) to check on the pillow and was told that it takes a minimum of three months to make the pillow. Fine. I got a call two weeks ago saying my pillow was lost and could I bring a photo of my project so they could replace the canvas and thread. Ok. I walked into the store last week to reconcile this heartbreaking mistake. The stores attendants again stared at me like I was wrecking their day for the interruption with my pillow. I walked out with no answers or solution. They did replace my threads and canvas so I could do my needlepoint over again. Needless to say I can not recommend this establishment. . read more

As with most needlepoint stores I've been to, the staff appears stoic and unfriendly when you first walk in. This was the case here, but once I broke the ice and asked questions, they warmed right up and were very helpful. I was impressed with the huge-and I mean huge, selection of canvases and fibers. I could have stayed all day but my family was waiting in the car. The back room was filled with ladies stitching and conversing and helping each other. It was nice to see so many happy needlepointers. I found what I was looking for and didn't ask for help but I know they would be willing to assist anyone if you ask. I really recommend this store- just be patient and you'll leave satisfied I'm sure! read more

I had a small needlepoint box finished by this store. The box is uneven and doesn't close properly.

I think it's sad that people are complaining about there return policy. It's just a policy and I can understand it bc there is no way of knowing that you didn't buy the thread used 2 feet to make eyes on something and then return it. I fully agree that there are people that don't do this but there unfortunately are. Plus if you truly love the art of needlework then I feel like you would be happy to grow your collection of thread. I have bought a few projects there and enjoyed them. I was short a few beads in a kit and they happily gave me the beads I needed. Supporting local businesses first over big box stores is so important for all of us to slow the gap growing between the rich and the poor. read more

Nice selection of yarn and good selection of canvases. The price for needlepoint canvases is outrageous. 230.00 to buy a Christmas stocking canvas and then you have to buy the yarn and then you have to pay to have it put together. It could cost you $400.00 for everything. Thankfully I sew so I could put my own together. The canvases are mass produced and I buy the yarn on Amazon and it's so much cheaper. I hate feeling ripped off. read more

I've been doing stitchery since I was a child so when I moved to Florida 6 years ago I was hoping to find a local stitchery store as good as ones I had found in NY and Philly. I thought that was the case when I went to this store looking to buy an advanced cross stitch project. I found a beautiful pattern which had a wide variety of thread needs. Julia was extremely helpful and offered to finish pulling threads for me, and order any the store didn't have. (The store has a wonderful variety of threads by the way). However after spending upwards of $800 total on the materials, threads and several trips back and forth to pick up materials that had to be ordered, I found some of the staff outright rude. Even telling me that 2 threads that were incorrectly pulled might not be able to be exchanged (they exchanged them of course. ). I'm not sure I will return to this store which is a shame. Going to a stitchery store should feel fun, not stressful. read more

Walking into this store was the best decision I ever made. The owner and staff are so friendly and helpful. The selection of threads and canvases can't be beat! I took classes , and stitched with people I had never met before, and everyone welcomed me with open arms. When it was time to leave Sarasota, I was sad to leave this beautiful shop and wonderful people. I learned more here in 4 months, than I have learned in 4 years of stitching. There are beautiful things in this shop. That is the only nice thing i can say. I brought a tiny piece to be finished in November. They finally reached out in May it was complete. I explained i am a snow bird i needed it before April 15. Well now they are charging to ship it to me! The people are busy but do not make you feel welcomed. I visit Sarasota about once a year to see my dad. I am so jealous that folks down here have such a terrific resource. I visited this store for the first time today, and will make an annual pilgrimage here. Lynn greeted me right away and helped me pick the perfect fibers for my current project. Probably the finest needlepoint studio in the country. Vicky and and her daughter Stephanie bend over backwards to work with you beginning to end onn a project. They have groups of people that go in and share the progress of what they are working on. The ladies who needlepoint there are welcoming and love to help. Vicky and team go to mArket and select canvases that appeal to broad tastes, including men's taste. Love this place! read more

Needlepoint Studio of Sarasota is a wonderful shop. They not only have the usual fibers but they have the uncommon fibers as well. Their selection is very large. The shop is well lit and roomy. I'm jealous of those who live close. read more

As a novice to needlepoint, I had Vicky help me choose the colors for my project. She came up with very elaborate threads that she thought I should use in parts of my project. After working on the project, I realized it was too much for me to tackle and wanted to exchange the threads she chose for me for ones that I could use. Even though she had chosen them for me she absolutely refused to exchange them. She has lost me as a customer and will have someone else help me with the finishing. read more

Needlepoint Studio is a wonderful, friendly shop with a very large selection of canvases and threads. Bring whatever project you are working on and join the stitchers at the front of the store who are working on their own canvases. Vickie Yohe, the owner, has a 4 hour class every Tuesday to help you with your project (you must sign up). Vickie and her daughter Stephanie are very welcoming and knowledgeable. There is also a large selection of stitching accessories, including beautiful laying tools. This is the best needlepoint shop I have ever visited. read more
