Place is just okay. Inside needs a desperate remodel, super old and dingy. Food used to be good, this time we had to send it all back, the garden surprise was completely raw in the middle, the minute we cut into it raw batter just ran out. The apple cinnamon thing was beyond oily and sooo sooo sweet. We've gotten this before in the past years and never had we gotten such bad food before as this time. My first time checking this place out and so glad we went. From the greetings to the service, everything was warm and friendly. I chose a side salad and the club sandwich with fries. My friend chose the potato pancakes and biscuits and gravy. We were both delighted with our choices. I tried his potato pancake and was an interesting texture and flavor for sure. High wall devise the two sides of the restaurant , which makes a path way right down the center. I meet my mom here for lunch. She works nearby and we meet for lunch on Fridays that I'm off. We both like to try new places and this place caught my eye because of their gluten free options. I had not been to any of their other locations but I'm going to have to go to them. There was a bit of a wait when we got there but it was nothing outrageous. We got seated within 15 minutes which cut into our eating time because my mom had a meeting right after lunch. But luckily we had both reviewed the menu to pre pick our lunch choices. Both my mom and I ordered the exact same thing. We each tried Mike's Egg Basket Breakfast with artichoke hearts and broccoli. We only differed ok n our side dishes. Our waitress was helpful and attentive without being overbearing. I know that I need to come back because of all of the gluten free items that are on the menu. We both happened to be in the area and decided to grab an impromptu breakfast. We just wanted basic bacon and eggs. Nothing fancy today. So I suggested the Pantry. It's located in a plaza with a big parking lot and plenty of parking. On a weekend there a long wait and a long line. Sometimes out the door. But it was a Friday and although it was busy, it wasn't crazy. We were promptly greeted and immediately seated. The restaurant was clean and bright and the staff was friendly. I had my eye on the apple pancakes which looked absolutely amazing. But, I needed to save those calories for another day. We both ordered identical meals. Sunny side up eggs, rye toast and bacon. This was my second time eating at The Pantry. I have a friend who lives in Michigan and we meet to have brunch together when I go down to Mardi Gras...or to take other vacations in the states. We didn't wait long for our server or food. The coffee was good as usual. I've eaten at several other breakfast places all over, so I couldn't help but compare the gluten-free pancakes to others I've had. Don't get me wrong, I think it's fantastic they even offer gluten-free pancakes for those of us who don't get to eat them often. This time, though, I did notice they are thin and dry. The bacon was phenomenal and cooked perfectly. But when I go down to NOLA, Another Broken Egg or Powdered Sugar has pancakes that are fluffy and taste like the real thing. I got pecans in these and they were just pieces. Good, but at Powdered Sugar, those pecans are coated in something that tastes like pecan pie. I eat keto and usually only allow myself sugar when on vacation. I couldn't help but feel like the pancakes were a waste of a higher carb dish. I think the next time, I will get eggs and bacon or something similar. Sorry, just can't help but compare. My friend got a vegetarian dish that had cheese in the middle. I can't remember what it's called, but she absolutely loves it. She said her food was very good. The prices are decent too. I paid what I usually do just for me, and I bought my friend's brunch. Would eat here again, but you guys might want to call some of those Nawlins places to pry their pancake recipe out of them! LOL read more

This is a cute family owned restaurant that has fantastic food. My grandmother was so excited to take me here to try their "famous apple pancake." This definitely did not disappoint. The apple pancake was amazingly super gloppy-topped with sugar, butter, cinnamon, and soft apples. It was delicious and gooey. The pancake itself was delightfully chewy and soft. It had a great toothsome feel to it. We also split the garden pancake-a fluffy batter/egg mixture loaded with fresh veggies and cheese. This was an excellent contrast to the sweet and sticky apple. PATHETIC SERVICE! I have been here at least a dozen times and 99% of the time the service is horrendous. I have never been greeted as I'm standing in line, although on average 3-5 employees pass by - almost purposely do not make eye contact in case they would have to smile. This includes the owner! I usually have to ask for the server to take my order, even though she passes by multiple times without even a mention that she'll be with me shortly. The food is fine but I can't justify patronizing a business that shows zero appreciation of the patronage. Also, the AC is so low, it's like eating your meal in a meat locker- but why would they bother making customers comfortable. Go to the Shelby Corner House! This place is tried and true, my go to when I come home. Been going here for years. Need to get there early on weekends, 9 AM or earlier. Today was my first grievance and I knew it was coming. Ordered carry out, first thing the person on the phone says is are you sure, that's going to be at least 30 minutes... I'm no business man, but do you not want my business? Do you care about my food/order? None of the ordering process felt reassuring, she was a rude individual, yet it was a simple order. Farmer's omelette, french toast. Asked if I wanted condiments or silverware, I ask for syrup only. Pick up my order, drive home, there is pork in the omelette and no syrup. My fiancé and I share our meals, neither of us eat pork. Call and they offer to replace, no further compensation. Thanks for wasting a part of my day with no consideration for my time and no compensation. This was a new employee, I haven't seen her before despite years of patronage. She did not apologize when I informed her of the mistake, acted as if I was confused. Other than this experience, I love the pantry and advocate for it to all my associates. Ambiance is always on point. When dining in, coffee and water stay filled. The omelettes are the best I've ever had. Always get the upgraded house toast for an extra dollar. read more

Looking to kill a whole morning/afternoon or day, we'll look no further. This place is a time warp and before you know it 2 hours have gone by on a single sandwich. No, but really- this place is SOOOOO slow!! Block out your agenda for at least 2 hours at this place. Don't have appointments immediately following after and don't come here if you need a "quick bite". Also, don NOT- I repeat- DO NOT get the hot turkey sandwich. That is of course, unless you actually do like wet, slimy, processed and pressed, low quality fake turkey luncheon meat. The hot turkey sandwich was, simply put- a gross hot mess!!! Not only was the turkey a slimy, rubbery pile of yuck, my mashed potatoes were nuked to annihilation that the edges were rock hard and inedible. Then there was the "gravy". Or was it gravy!? Or was it a bowl of lumpy dumpling or flour that wasn't whisked properly. I literally stared at the bowl and played with it with a spoon for 10 minutes trying to decode it. On the bright side, because I'm just not THAT mean when it comes to food, the veggie that we're included were a nice mixed version, giving tri-colored carrots, broccoli, pea pods a chance to shine. And trust me, even though they too were nuked in the microwave, they were the highlight of the whole meal. Need I say, I sent the whole meal back. The icing on the cake was my waitress tried to convince me that it was in fact REAL turkey!! Please- go take a look at at my multiple pictures and see for yourself. This was no roasted turkey breast! I'm using this is my civic duty to the Yelp world- stay far away from the Hot Turkey Sandwich. But why the 3 stars then, you're asking yourself. Well kids I took the average. 1 Star for extremely sllllllooooow service and gelatinous turkey, and 5 Stars for the #5 Michael's Creation. 5+1=6, 6/2=3. There the answer. Now, for as awful as my 1st dish was- that's how amazingly wonderful my #5 was!! It's a massive sized sandwich with corned beef, pastrami, Swiss cheese, house made cole slaw and 1,000 island dressing all piled high on rye bread that spread with plenty of butter, grilled on a flat top til golden perfection! If that not enough for you, it's served with a heaping mound of skinny fries made fresh to order and served so hot you immediately drop that 1st one you try to pop in your mouth. Cool your tongue right away with the cold, and simply dressed but delicious side of cole slaw that's also included with the sandwich. Oh man- the whole plate is a thing of "damn that so good" and food moans. All for only $8.20 too! Trust me, get this sandwich. It's the #5. I'll gladly be back for another one very soon. Updated... burned again.. don't use this restaurant for carry out. Today they told us 1 hour for carry out. No problem. Went there 15 minutes early and food was ready... got it home a few minutes away and our meals were ICE cold. My omelette and hash browns were very over cooked. I received two end pieces of bread for toast.. one over 2" think. Called to complain and their policy is to provide a gift card.. no refund. Terribly disappointed because I am not looking forward to another visit. I feel like inedible food deserves a refund. read more

Each bite is crunchy and crispy with bites of apple, pancake and maybe cinnamon sugar? It's like a delicious breakfast elephant ear. Forget syrup this thing is delicious as is. My only regret? Ate breakfast here on Sunday with hubby because we lost power. We arrived early, around 7am. I ordered the Paul Bunyon breakfast, however I asked for pancakes instead of American fries. My husband ordered the Oven Baked fruit surprise with cherries. My husband said the oven baked surprise was really good, but he liked the better. My ham, link sausage & toast were really good. My over-easy eggs were more like hard boiled, no runny yolk at all. The bacon was cold and could barely chew it. And the pancakes were terrible! They were not fluffy at all, very flat and dry. Seems like they had too much flour or dry ingredients in the pancake mix. This is the 2nd time we've ate at this location. The first time the food was really good, but not this time.
