I wanted to do a team building activity as a reward to my team for working hard. I contacted the owner of The Panic Room and he was very helpful in accommodating my group of 22 people. He helped me schedule a time and was fun to speak to. My group came into the establishment excited and full of energy as it was the end of the semester and they were ready to celebrate. The owner handled our large excited group with great energy and a great attitude. Everyone definitely enjoyed themselves and are still raving about it a week later. I would suggest anyone to go to this as it is great, but it also worked very well as a team building activity for my office team. My friends and I had just be turned away at the movie theater, the movie we wanted to see was full. We thought our night out would be cut short. We were brainstorming things to do at B-Dubs, and escape rooms had come up. Surely there was one in Carbondale, a fun and happening town. We looked and behold! We found it! The Panic Room, 5 minutes away. It was perfect. We called and got set up and had AN AMAZING TIME. We did The Haunting. (Side note: We failed. I had such an enjoyable experience! This is a great way to spend quality time with your friends and family. This is the second time I went to this type of thing, and the Panic Room in Carbondale was much more fun than the one I tried near Washington D.C. There were a bunch of twists and turns in the one we did and it even got my daughter to jump in fear. We went here for my birthday. The fellow that was there made it super enjoyable. He explained everything that we needed to know and started us off with a great clue. We were in Little Egypt. This was the first time that we had ever done anything like this, so we didnt really know what to expect. We had a blast while we were there. We didnt make it out in the time allotted, but the experience was worth every minute! I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for something different and out of the ordinary. Our group of 5 went for my birthday. None of us had ever been to an escape room before. So we decided to jump in and do the hardest room, The Haunting! The story was great, and we had a lot of fun. The puzzles were increasingly harder as we went through the room. I loved all the details in the room setup. The attention to detail was awesome. It was the best birthday gift! This was so much fun! We did the "haunting" room. It was a paranormal ghost themed room and we had to figure out how to escape the room before the ghost killed us all. The theme and decorations were great. I jumped from a scare and gave a little scream more than a couple of times. They have a button you can push if you're stuck and they will give you a hint (there's a limit). So that was nice when we just didn't know what to do next. Great family experience! Six of us: 2 grandparents, 2 parents, and 2 kids (11 & 16). We all had a great time and we all contributed something. Grandparents and kids have done one other escape room together, and 16 year old has been to Panic Room (Little Egypt room) prior to this visit. We did Christmas Escape this time and we all loved it! Definitely challenging enough for all of us and enjoyed the different twists and surprises to getting the clues and escaping. Definitely recommend as a great family experience! read more

I went with a friend and did the haunted room. We escaped with 9 minutes remaining (not bad for a pair). The storyline was great and everything made sense. All the obstacles were logical and just challenging enough. The added scare factor was fun. The room was a little spooky and both of us fell victim to the jump scares which added to the intensity. We both really liked the host. He was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back and do another room. I recommend this escape room to anyone who likes puzzles. read more

First escape room ever and it was fun. There was obviously a lot of effort put into the room and Jeff, the owner and host, makes it a good time. My husband and I tried The Haunting which is meant for larger groups. We didn't make it out but it was fun trying. We will be going back to try again and try the other rooms. It was challenging but we could get hints if needed, but even with hints Jeff didn't give anything away. $25/person seems fair and it's better than a movie for date night. read more

Fantastic time had by all! This was our first experience doing an escape room, and it definitely won't be our last! My daughter wanted to do something different to celebrate her 12th birthday. We purchased the 6 person Little Egypt Room. The 4 kiddos had a great time as well as the parents. Staff was enthusiastic and thoughtful. My husband and I have started a small tradition of going to the Panic Room on our anniversary. Solving the puzzles is always fun. The owner is a great story teller and comes up with awesome Room ideas. I love how it's something we can do together and even if you don't escape in time you had an hour of getting lost in a whole different world and feeling submerged into your surroundings. We'd never done an escape room before this when our family visited. The owner was great in giving us the basics of how things work without spoiling the real fun. The puzzles were tons of fun and it was great seeing the kids, (ages 10, 14, 18, and 20) interact with each other and everyone was able to contribute something. This was our first experience at an escape room. The group I was with tried The Haunting. It is the hardest one here in Carbondale and maybe we bit off more than we could chew for our first time. We had a great time and the manager/owner was very helpful and made our experience very enjoyable. I would recommend to anyone to come and try The Panic Room out. We did the haunted house escape room. Lots of jump scares and difficult things. It was really difficult and we failed. Simply couldn't get the last two locks. We knew when we needed to do, but couldn't get the gear. The owner/manager was fun, but a little cheesy. My 12 year old son complained the entire time because he couldn't figure anything out which kind sucked (for me) but that's not The Panic Rooms problem. read more

In a town with not much to do, the Panic Room was a blast! Great way to spend time with a group of friends or family. Staff is very friendly. Some clues are a little challenging, but you can always get help! No need to be a genius to solve puzzles. We did the Christmas room and had to do some group singing, was pretty funny. We visited The Haunting room and had a great time! The puzzles were challenging, the story was interesting...even the decor was cool. There were surprises--but I won't give them away. My friend said that "it was like seeing a great movie times ten!" We all had a blast...and we want to go back and try out another room! I have done many different escape rooms, particularly in larger cities. I was quite impressed with how The Panic Room compared given the smaller venue. I booked the Egyptian room online for an activity for my siblings and I to do together (6 of us ages 14 - 33). It was an absolute success and exceeded expectations.
