Dating back to the times of the Dutch colonialists it pays homage to a time in our country's history - specifically to our beautiful Empire State. I'm a lover of both history and nature and you get both when come to visit. The museum is the house of a man named Jacob B. And the farm is a little farm but still a farm. Would be cool if they had a coffee shop in site like good espresso and can be a place to come enjoy the outdoors or something. Anyways. I was scrolling through IG and came across a really nice event that they were hosting for St Nicholas day. I'm so glad we came from the city to check it out. My teen wasn't really impressed as nothing is impressive to his standards if it isn't tech related of course but my two littles enjoyed themselves so much. They made Christmas cards and enjoyed a special treat at the end of our event. They met and fed a horse and st nick himself! Our story teller who sat at the fire side was engaging and had just the right amount of time telling her story.

In the window they had beautiful display of jewelry, realism well done quality portrait and plants. Also I believe there was a sign that they do portraits on commission. So I thought ok, it must be artist's studio and an art gallery . We were greeted with welcome hello and if we have a question, to feel free to ask? We looked around I was wowed by beautiful, quality, artisan made jewelry and craft. Prices were very reasonable. Space was spacious and welcoming. I saw artwork that one of my friends might be very interested to purchase. I ask the owner (who greeted us) about that piece. He told us all about it, the process of work, materials and background of the artist. I highly recommend to visit this gallery, great energy, quality artwork and friendly owner (no snobbish attitude staff that you might encounter in NYC galleries).

5/15/26 (Update) Laurelwood Arboretum is even more beautiful than ever…read more The Sensory Garden has been added. A definite "must see and feel" garden! Beautiful fuchsia colored Rhododendron grow throughout the gardens. Have noticed that there's a lot of fencing around the newer flora and plants. Most likely to keep the deer away from the plants. Many new benches have been added throughout the Arboretum. They're beautifully crafted from trees. Inside the welcome center there was nature photography on sale. Best to wear comfortable shoes. The walking area is somewhat hilly. The Arboretum is free. Donations are always welcome. The Arboretum does have two parking areas.

Reception staff was friendly. Admission is always free. As of 2023, reservations to visit are no longer required. There is a wheelchair ramp to get into the gallery once you walk into the building. There is one restroom on the first floor and more downstairs. Gift shop is extremely tiny.

There are a couple of exhibits to see and there no cost to enter the museum. Which is nice. My only two complaints are parking can be difficult, but I was lucky enough to find parking on the street since the lot was $28. Also, since the museum is small, it's very short tour and there was only one floor that was open and it was a little limited. But we did all have a good time nevertheless. Would recommend visit the museum and take in the beautiful of art and experiences of the artist.
