My first time coming to the original pancake house. We didn't have to wait long and was asked if we would like gluten free menus. We later find out that the owner has celiac disease and wanted to make sure everyone has options. The menu was extensive so it took us a bit to figure out what we wanted. I was a little surprised they didn't have combination plates. Eggs and pancakes etc. Yes you can order a side of bacon but that's $7.95 for 3 slices. I did order it and they turned out to be good size slices. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and you get 6 of them. I finished 5 of them so that was good. It comes with blueberry syrup and regular syrup. Plenty of butter. Lola our server was extremely pleasant and we were able to chat with her to learn more about the restaurant. It was interesting information so we were thankful we met her. There is plenty of seating in booths and tables. They appeared to have enough people working as well. So you didn't have to wait long to be seated or for your breakfast. I was very pleased with everything but especially the service. Thank you Lola for the hospitality and work you do. It made a difference in a rough morning just coming from the doctors office. Keep up the good work and now that we know about the original pancake house we will be back. A group of us for my company went here when we were in Columbus for the conference. I've been to other locations in the past, but never this one. We had a good experience. The staff was super helpful and did a great job with most of our meals. We had a large group of about 15 of us and only one meal was Not out in time. I was impressed with how Marge my kids full breakfast was. I ordered the kids breakfast because I thought I wasn't very hungry, but when it came, it was a pretty full meal and I ate it all. When we told them it was one of our colleagues, birthdays, they came in saying and gave him a birthday cake. Very tidy. I was not at all upset with the experience we had here. read more

This was our second or third visit to this place, but unfortunately, the third time was more of a disappointment than a charm. Our hot chocolates arrived cold, but we chose not to complain since we usually prefer to let minor things slide. However, things escalated when our daughter's omelette came with completely burnt bacon--so charred that pieces were visibly sticking out (as seen in one of our pictures). To add to the frustration, my omelette had two incorrect ingredients, which wasn't what I ordered. On a positive note, the waitress and her manager were incredibly kind and sincerely apologetic, which we appreciated. Finally got here. It's tucked in the back of the mall; getting at it can be a challenge, though you can park out front and walk through. Bright and shiny inside, feels very new. But the service and food feel old, in a good way. Real fresh-made food, served up with a smile and a joke. Half full at 11am on a Monday. All the usual suspects, plus a few specialties. Plus loads of pancakes, of course, served even with other items. I'm not a big fan, so I picked something without them. And also, they have hash, so I was pretty much deciding amongst things that had it. The Irish Benedict seemed appropriate for mid-March, and sounded really good. And it was: tons of good hash, over English muffins, with eggs and a pile of good hash browns. The waitress asked if I wanted cheese and onions on the potatoes, and that seemed like a good idea. She brought hot sauce, but there was plenty of flavor all around. The hollandaise was great, and again there was a lot of it. Fresh-squeezed OJ, pricey but good. It's always been expensive, but it's so much better. And the meal all in all was pretty steep for breakfast, but it was really good and there was more than I could finish. I got the Chorizo Eggs Benedict, which is chorizo, onions, bell peppers and two eggs on an English muffin topped with homemade hollandaise sauce! I always love trying new hollandaise sauce and this one was yummy! I do wish it had a little more spice to it, but the cholula sauce did the trick for me! The hash browns - like always - were crispy and good! My friend got the Buckeye Pancakes and those were DELICIOUS! Peanut butter and chocolate together on anything is a good choice! I even got to eat some of them, which was my favorite part! I love a good breakfast joint and the OG pancake house does not disappoint with taste. However i do have a little bit of beef with this spot bc it's SO overpriced. I never leave without spending an absurd amount for a simple breakfast. Make sure you come early or be prepared to wait (thought it's usually a short wait time). We are so glad we stopped here while in Ohio for Thanksgiving. These were the best pancakes we've had ever! From plain, to pumpkin to blueberry, everything we tried was delicious. Strawberry syrup and whip cream for the strawberry pancakes came out in tiny cups, it wasn't even enough for the two pancakes I ate at the restaurant. When I asked for one of each to go for my left over pancake, she didn't say anything to me but charged me $7 for the little cups. OUTRAGEOUS!!! They don't have a soda fountain they charge you for each individual can of soda. I asked for my scrambled eggs to be soft and they were overdone and dry. The waitress also lied to me about the charge but I'm not trying to post her name everywhere. Visited this restaurant on a Wednesday around 10 am. The decor was modern and extremely clean. I got the pumpkin pancakes and they were delicious. I've gotten many things that were allegedly pumpkin flavored and been disappointed but this was the real deal. My wife ordered the pecan pancakes and she very much enjoyed hers. Updating my review. The service is excellent each time we have been here. The restaurant has a typical diner type of ambience, which is airy and comfortable. So far we have tried their pancakes, various omelettes, and eggs Benedict. I would say their omelettes are outstanding, but everything else has been just okay. The banana pancakes are made with over-ripe bananas (and we've ordered them at two different occasions). I have been here three times the first two were great, hot food, great service, well managed. It's a loud family style restaurant. The food is only so/so, personally think their pancakes taste like artificial chemicals, so i would never order them, but they have good eggs, hash browns, French Toast and bacon. So my wife and I have gone back, but not often because much like everywhere the pricing is high, figure 14.00 for eggs and hash browns for one child seems insane to me. But, I think everywhere is at this point. The big issue with this place is management and staff. They have a few servers that should be managers and others who shouldn't be employed. The wait staff and management were passive aggressive and rude. This last time, was the last time i'll ever step foot in this place.. Wife and I ordered drinks, we got different drinks, when we said something, new drinks were thrown on the table, without a word, then we ordered food, and the restaurant completely cleared our before it came, 40 min later.. Which was also not the right order, it was also cold on one side, presumably while it sat under heat lamps. We asked for management who came over and immediately was angry we didn't like the service and wouldn't eat the 37.00 cold meals in front of us.. Even the butter was frozen, and i mean legitimate ice was on it. When i told the manager we just wanted to send it back and leave, we were then passively aggressively explained that there was nothing wrong with eating the wrong order, until she gave us the meals, and deleted the check down to a penny because we wanted to tip our waitress, as she entered everything into the computer order pad, and our guess was the staff in the kitchen who every time we looked was on a cell phone, wasn't paying attention to the orders, and with management doing the same thing, no one was running the place. Place and meal was a mess, the right order came out while management was nasty at the table and she was nasty to yet another waitress who was bringing the right order. We quickly started off with a hot chocolate and coffee that came quick and hot. My partner got the Western omelet, which was quite possibly the largest omelet I have ever seen. It was like quiche sized. He liked it, said he wished he would have got it with cheddar cheese, but it definitely had enough ham to make the cost worth it. My hashbrowns and eggs were good. At the suggestion of my daughter, we went for breakfast at "The Original Pancake House" in upper Arlington which is near The Ohio State University which I'll be going to in the course of my weeks stay. Upper Arlington is an upscale neighborhood of Columbus and the homes and food prices reflect it. The restaurant is located in a courtyard which has a host of other businesses. This restaurant is family owned and operated. The interior is very modern, well maintained and upbeat. I need that in the morning. The seating is comfortable and counter seating is available. We sat at a booth. I ordered the very tasty Blueberry Waffle $14.95. The menu has many options with some unique offerings. The menu also gives you a calorie count. It turns out those Blueberry Pancakes had (978) calories. Put your hands together for Jesus. My cappucino was $4.45 for a decent size cup. The Original Pancake House has sit-in, carryout and a delivery option set-up with Door Dash. I gave this restaurant 3 Stars because New Jersey Diners have spoiled me. read more
