* The Definition of Torpedo *…read more Urban Dictionary has multiple definitions or "Torpedo": - To betray, backstab, diss, or punk someone with the intent of causing harm to their reputation. - When objects or people look beautiful from far away, but dangerous or ugly up close. - A long turd. The menu sounded promising (although overpriced for a food truck) with some nice classic sandwiches on offer. I ordered the "mumia" ($12) - which I have to assume is a play on Mumia Abu-Jamal who is from Philadelphia, home of the cheesesteak? Anyhoo... The description was very cheesesteak like with sirloin beef, pepperjack cheese, sauteed onions and peppers. The addition of garlic aioli moved away from the classic as did the usage of pepperjack instead of provolone. When I unwrapped the sandwich, I was torpedoed with an excessive amount of a watery oily substance dripping all over the place. It got all over everything - not in a good way. Biting into the sandwich was the next torpedoing. The bread was stale. I don't mean day old. I mean stale. Next torpedo: the beef was chewy, gristly, and very oily. The peppers were the best part - but they too were overly oily. Basically each bite gave you a mouthful of stale bread, a piece of oily gristle flavoured by an oily pepper and a drippy oily substance (perhaps a broken aioli?). I couldn't eat the bread. Tried picking off the meat and veggies to eat, but gave up as they were too awful on their own. There was a small line when I approached the truck initially but their service was quick giving customers their sandwich within about 2-4 minutes of order, not entirely sure what the standard is for food trucks but for me that's good. The lady up front taking the orders was very friendly and was happy to help answer our questions. They only offered a few options but what I had to try was the jerk chicken sandwich as I had stopped a girl just minutes before and attempted to waft hers. Again service was fairly quick and I receive my sandwich within a few minutes. I don't think the picture I've posted will do it any justice but this baby was a beauty. The bun tasted quite fresh and almost melted in my mouth, the chicken and enough spice and flavour and the rest was just bomb. It is quite filling I found which is what you're looking for, good bang for buck. Definitely gonna track these down every time I'm downtown. Amazing experience for my taste buds.

So we decided to get takeout from their truck at the Broadway tech centre. I had their toasted sandwich combo. It comes with a sandwich made with homemade focaccia, croKets (potato croquettes), salad, and your choice of sauce for the croKets. We got the garlic sauce and the wasabi sauce. They were both creamy and very similar to a mayo, but vegan! I liked the garlic one more. The wasabi taste wasn't very present, so it just tasted like mayo. The croKets are SO GOOD. Honestly I would go back just to eat those. They're perfectly crisp with all the little edges. The sandwich combo was actually quite large. I couldn't finish everything and had to save some croKets for later. My brother said the cauli-burger was very BBQ sauce forward, but tasty. He enjoyed the vegan bacon as well. We also got the hazelnut chocolate mousse cake. Definitely reminded me of a ferrero rocher. I like the added texture with the nuts and it also isn't too sweet! Overall, the food is flavourful, filling, and reasonably priced. I would definitely get this again. Their menu is small, but they do it well.

Kale needed some slicing as it's rather hard to chew through large thick leaves and the dressing needed to be massaged into the salad. Other than that, the meal was filling and absolutely delicious.
