It's hard not to rate any food market like this as anything less than 5 stars because there really…read moreis something for everyone! I loved it. Always on the search for some authentic food native to the culture, you can certainly find it here. But you can also find lots of other stuff, too like tacos with fresh tortillas and mochi ice cream! FOOD: Some of it was great! Some of it okay. The smorebord was good but not the best I've had. Still I had the Danish meatball one and the smoked salmon one - both good but not great. Loved the fried fish and the pork belly! Supremely awesome. The mochi ice cream was a treat and the French meringue were simply delicious. I bit undercooked for me, but I can't turn down a good meringue. SERVICE: Overall, good. Nice portions. Great plating. And the people were all very nice. More like quick service but that's what you want from a place like this so you can experience different places. COST: Worth it. Nothing was overblown. All were a tad bit on the higher side, but not more than you would epxect. Definitely a fun place to go and check out.

WHAT A LITTLE GEM! 4.8…read more As we strolled around the area of our hotel, we came across this lovely neighborhood market. Flower stands with freshly cut flowers and an abundance of vegetable crates colored the exterior of the building's grounds. The enclosed building is made from beautiful glass and metal, with the inside feeling open and airy, making it feel a bit like a greenhouse with its natural lighting. We found an assortment of shops offering meats, condiments, pastries, baked goods, coffee, fresh seafood, pastas, prepared salads, sushi, lunch spots, cured meats, nuts, beer, wine, fresh herbs, sandwiches, caviar, ice cream, cheeses, housewares and gift items; quite the assortment here! The only thing that was difficult to find were non-food gifts for our friends that were actually made in Denmark. Most were manufactured overseas. We stopped and had a wonderful lunch at the very popular Hallernes Smørrebrød, seated at their bar. This market is definitely worth a visit.

It's coop, it's extra!…read more It's bigger on the inside! No, I kid you not - it's true. I was skeptical when I first went to this supermarket since it looks so shabby and without hardly any windows on the outside, but once you get in, you realise that it's one of those big supermarkets that are pretty much sell everything that you need. Vegetables, organic vegetables (ekologiska, obviously), fish, tons of fish, cheese, butter, meat, gluten free and lactose free products (since we're talking about Sweden) and other household stuff. They have also aisles for imported products - I saw a lot of obscure products in Slavic languages, Reeses peanut butter chocolates and Guiness chips and some fancy microwave popcorn. They have also pretty decent aisle full of Asian stuff, including bambooshoots in cans - that pretty much exist only in Asian shops in Copenhagen. They have good brand of coconut milk (not just the weird Santa Maria or whatever it is called now), rice noodles, egg noodles and pakchoy on the vegetable rack. Ah Sweden, you're the best when it comes to supermarket. Danish ones can't really beat it, not even big warehouse-like one like Bilka. The location is pretty convenient as well, just across Värnhem, sort of smaller bus station where you do your switches if you are not lucky enough to ride buses without change from/to home/work. This has quickly become my supermarket-to-go during my stay in Malmö.

Woahhh! ICA Maxi has some serious competition. Like them, this place has everything from exotic…read moreproduce to cheeses A-Z to a huge lactose-free section. Next to the latter is a whole refrigerated case of Astrid och aporna products as well as a variety of vegan cheeses and spreads. Really impressive selection all around. I am also surprised by how much stuff they have for pets. Of course with all Swedish supermarkets, the alcohol department is lacking. The price is in line with ICA, maybe some things are a little more expensive, but Coop seems to have more variety.
