The layout of the cafe is very cozy and dimly lit, a perfect place for vegans to socialize over lattes and food. We decided on their brunch platter and croissant sandwich, so we could share everything. I got a matcha latte and she got a regular one. The cashier was very kind, and she gave us her recommendations on what to try. She even spoke to me in English (although she didn't have to!). I also decided on trying out a pain au chocolat. Wow, just simply wow. Their pastries are still buttery and fluffy while remaining amazingly vegan, and their ingredients are high quality. The "cheeses" did not taste like plastic, no, but tasted similar to authentic cheese. The croissant sandwich was full of flavors and everything on the brunch platter was delicious. I especially loved how they decorated and seasoned the avocado (and it was ripe!) The matcha latte was a lovely wake up, especially after I had a horrible matcha latte the day prior. After about an hour or so, we were both eyeing their options of "cheesecakes" and decided on sharing a slice of their pecan option. After we took our first bite, my friend and I just looked at each other. The pecans and sauce complimented each other so well, and the vegan consistency wasn't too mushy! The breading was not too crumbly and each bite was Heaven. All in all, I am SO EXCITED to come back to this delicious cafe, as it was my favorite restaurant we tried during our stay in Copenhagen.

It is a vegan bakery! There are a few gluten-free pastries, namely the cakes. The place was small inside and it was packed. Dog friendly . . . Five stars for that! There is an outside seating area as well. We ordered some items and all were so amazing! On their Instagram page they are always posting about their vegan fastelvnsbolle and so we got some. It is basically a cream puff the size of a child's fist. Oh my, one of my faves from Denmark. The vanilla whipped cream inside was so light and not to sweet. The dough did not get soggy. On the contrary, the bottom of the pastry was crunchy and sweet. Almost like the bottom of an almond croissant. I also recommend their vegan, raw cakes. Deep rich chocolate is involved, yay!

We stopped here for dinner last night after walking around Freetown and wanting something warm and filling because the weather was in and out with a light drizzle. We ordered the chicken congee (plus hoison chicken) and a mushroom barley risotto along with their Snickers waffle for dessert because why not. Even though we were virtually the only people in the cafe, the food took a pretty long time to come out. Both of the savory dishes were incredible. The congee was so saltily wonderful and we loved all the toppings (except the excessive amount of peanuts). The dish was rich, but all the veggies cut through everything--so good. The ristotto was equally impressive because the mushroom flavor really popped in the broth they used, and the rest of the accouterments of cheese, sautéed mushrooms, etc, on top really sung. A winner. As for the waffle, what's not to like? A solid preparation with chocolate and peanut sauces drenched on top. No complaints. We thought the total tab was a bit high for what we got, but this is Denmark, so we're getting used to the elevated pricing. They thought it was sketchy that we were eating outside rather than inside, so we had to pay up front. They asked a few of us to come in at a time since the restaurant is quite small. This resulted in different tables of 4 finishing at different times. In addition, the waiters couldn't keep track of our orders and served by exhaustion (e.g. check each table until the person who ordered is found). Lastly, the difference between the take-out price (95 DKK) and the sit-down price (125 DKK) was over 30% in the case of my green curry. Questionable pricing... Might have been better to come here with a party of 2.

Because of that, I had been actively avoiding 42Raw which was one of the frontrunners when the raw food diet swept over Copenhagen a few years ago. Until this past Saturday, that is. We were at Frederiksbergcenteret and looking for some lunch. Choices there are a bit slim (it's not that big a mall), limited to a bakery, a Joe & The Juice, Paleo, and 42Raw. It was basically the Battle of the Celebrity Diet out there. And seeing as I don't count bacon as a vegetable, we ended up on 42Raw rather than Paleo. They seem to have loosened up on their original concept, that nothing was heated above 42 degrees celsius (the main idea in raw food and the origin of the number '42' in their name), a bit. Their menu now counts both pizza and burgers, though everything is vegetarian/vegan. I opted for their pizza slice and salad combo, and holy guacamole, Batman! The pizza was the portobello mushroom version, and a salad with broccoli and pear, and both were excellent. All vegan, well-made, jammed-pack with flavour, and very filling. My better half had the avocado and hummus sandwich, and that seemed to be a hit, too. My side limonade and the cocoa and date smoothie were great, too, in particular the smoothie, which tasted so creamy and sinful that you'd almost expect a call from your doctor! So yes, I'm convinced. And I'll most likely be back, here or in their other outlet in downtown Copenhagen. I'll just pretend the '42' is a reference to the answer to the great question of life, the universe and everything.

The soup was topped with some fresh herbs, cauliflower and roasted nuts and came with two small pieces of bread on the side. The soup was very tasty and a decently sized portion but I would have never paid full price for it (85kr). The 2-for-1 deal was a good way to try the soup but unfortunately I don't think I'll get it again because of the price. I may go back to try the salads instead because many people around us had them and they looked amazing (and were around the same price as the bowl of soup). The cafe entrance is a little hard to find at first, but just go around the corner into the little alley way and you'll see the door on the side.
