Not much of a demand for comedy writers/improv comics over there. I attended graduate school (MFA in Creative Writing) at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada and I experienced some anti-American sentiment there. Consequently, I expected the same in the UK. Never saw it. Quite to the contrary, I've never been treated so well. The British treated me better than my own family, which might not be saying much. One day while my British girlfriend (We've since split up) was at work I walked over the Old Manor Pub in Walton-on-Thames during the lunch hour. I expected either anti-American sentiment or at the very least, a cold shoulder. Again the locals and I had a great time drinking your superior British beer and exchanging anecdotes. I've never had so much fun with my clothes on! I would love to email the Old Manor Pub but can't find an email address anywhere. Does anyone know how I can email them? This is a pub you definitely want to spend time in. If only that British lady hadn't dumped me I would be spending my weekends there today instead of Hollywood. I love the UK. It's the closest I'll ever get to Heaven. Sincerely, Tom Neuhoff World Humour Hollywood, California

After some wait we had ordered drinks and were content. We were told that they did not have the staff to take food orders , and could we order at the bar. So we did. We overheard the staff telling another customer that there would be a delay of an hour before they could get food, so they decided to leave. It took approximately 2 hours before any food arrived, and it came randomly as they seemed unprepared to serve our 2 tables, and some of us had almost finished our meals before the others had even been served. My steak was ordered rare and I got well done. There was no point complaining and asking for a replacement at that stage. Fortunately, as guests we were in a good mood, but we were still hungry and ate what we could in terms of the quality of the food. In the end, after discussion with the manager, the bill was adjusted, and we did not pay for the food. At some point , i recalled an episode of Fawlty Towers and it was as if the pub was re-enacting that show. It was sad that a pub with no beer, and poor staffing levels, had been our choice of venue for our family reunion , but sometimes it works out like that. But a Greene King pub should be doing a better job!

From what they offered, there was a superb choice of food and certainly more than enough to satisfy the toughest eater. Food was served to our group and what appeared was a total delight. Portions were exceedingly generous, arrived looking extremely inviting and tasted superb. Staff are brilliant and could not have done more to assist, or make our evening more enjoyable. I returned yesterday (Wednesday, May 03), to attend lunch with two friends. Our meal was equally excellent and once again the service was spot on. I would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone and I will be returning here again and again, without question.

Our reservation was for 3pm and a few of us got there early so we grabbed a drink at the bar whilst they prepped our table (they do a couple of sound local ales so some of us went for those). The bar was busy, but not cramped, though very family-friendly, so if you're intent on a quiet pint with no kids acting up, this is probably not the place to go for Sunday lunch! When we'd all arrived we were taken through to the annex where we had a huge long table with plenty of room. The room was gorgeous, with chandeliers and a huge open fire crackling away. The menu was pretty substantial and we all ordered something different, deciding on a two course (main and dessert) option, but you could stretch to three if your budget and stomach capacity allows. The food was very good indeed (see photos). Service was efficient and friendly, they really do have excellent staff there. We stayed for nearly four hours which is testament to how much we liked it in there. Tip: The Crown has a car park but it's small and awkward, so it'd be best to either get there early to secure a spot or try and circle round the residential side streets for a space. otherwise
