But then there was some miscommunication in the kitchen, so they brought out my friends' dishes but didn't bring mine out for more than 5 minutes after, so I had to ask about it, after which I was promised it in another 5 minutes. So in the meantime, they brought out a free large plate of chips. Then when my meal did come out, the chef came to personally apologize and offered us free ice cream after if we wanted any. The manager also came over a short while later and offered us another round of drinks on the house (we accepted of course). So at the end of the day, we got free sides, drinks, and dessert for a 10 minute delay. And the ice cream is SO good- we had marzipan and honeycomb and a berry vanilla, homemade and in the cutest little jar. Must have! Then after all that, they also took off the service charge from the bill! What unbelievable staff. The food is great but the staff definitely made the experience. The management were very helpful in setting things up with our hockey committee and the food buffet was good value at £15 per head, giving an international variety of lamb curry, fishcakes and garlic bread amongst others. It was also appreciated that a member of management was visibly present throughout the evening to help iron out any problems that could arise. The bar staff were also friendly and efficient The room was the prefect size for our guest list of 50 and a good evening was had by all The club were suitably impressed enough to want to book up for next year's dinner already

In the summer the windows open out which is always a nice idea, but because of it's location along a main road you normally get the sound of the traffic and a lot sirens from the nearby St George's. In winter it's a cosy spot for a nice meal for small groups.

Only slight gripe is that while we were waiting for a table a girl came in after us and was offered a seat at the bar if they wanted to sit straight away, this wasn't offered to us & we'd been waiting around 10 mins at that point.

If there is any country on Earth where an architect would be commissioned to design a pub, England would be it. As a result it's a beautiful place, with comfortable seating and good food to boot. The inside is simply cavernous and they have really nice outdoor areas, so this pub is a must for summer pints and eating. Each week they have a live band playing a mix of covers and originals, and there may not be a better place to sample staid British cuisine at its best. Service is quite nice as well, solidifying this pub's unique place in between a mass existence of Asian restaurant and food markets.

The first floor has a bustling bar, the second is the restaurant and cocktail bar and the third hosts a cosy, plush little cinema (which I found pretty impressive). The cocktail bar is tucked-away neatly beside the restaurant. It's a gorgeous little room encased in deep, rich red paint and dark leather seating. This cocktail bar is called "The Crush Bar" and is like a little drinking den in The Exhibit. Their cocktail list is pretty impressive. I'm immediately drawn to the Japanese cocktail, purely based on the name as I'm intrigued to see if it actually *tastes* Japanese! Unfortunately, it's a little too strong for my liking although my friend seems to be lapping it up! I finally decide on the Abermarle Sour as my drink for the evening - light and fruity and doesn't taste alcoholic in the slightest (probably dangerous for me so I watch how much I drink!). The bartender was really friendly. He talked us through the menu and answered all our questions and we ended up having a nice chat about his band and folk music, a lovely surprise. I quite enjoyed my night at The Exhibit. It was busy and bustling but The Crush Bar was a little quieter; we were able to get a drink and a seat in relatively quiet surroundings as it's tucked away. She was pleasant, knowledgeable and was able to make suggestions in regards to the menu and of course gave us a history lesson about the company. My steak was cooked to perfectly, chips lovely, watercress just complimented it all. I also opted for a bernaise sauce to accompany it all. There is an option for garlic as well. FYI: they also have a two course or a three course menu which is available Monday to Friday, noon to 7pm. From what I saw it's a great value and the starter, main and dessert choices were very good. I wish I had dessert but I could barely finish my steak. Next time. Bill also sells a wide variety of Bill products.
