Well, they get top marks for salesmanship. I hate contracts, the thought of being locked into paying however much a month does not appeal to me. I'd rather pay a bit more and choose when I spend. That they managed to convince me to get a contract in a single visit. I'm not quite sure how they did it. I remember talking to the shop assistant for a bit, who threw some numbers that sounded really good. At this point I said that I'd go and compare my options. The store assistant then agreed with me that that was a good idea, talked for a bit more and about ten minutes later I was signing the contract. Very sly..
Anyway, enough about how I got taken in. The shop is neat and stylish. It's set out like most other phone shops. There are high spec phones on the walls, tempting you, and eager shop assistants that appear out of nowhere and ask you how you are. They're slightly less abrasive here than most places, which is such a relief. You can see them eyeing the commission they can earn off you as soon as you go into some Carphone Warehouses. It does seem good value as well, although I haven't gone around and collected figures on this. The Orange shop is a step up compared to most phone shops, but they still very effective at getting you to buy a phone. read more
