The Queensmere shopping centre also has a cinema attached to it, when we were last living there it was a virgin cinema, but like others it has moved hands over to Cineworld. It was quite a small cinema, but the screens where a reasonable size. ample car parking is on offer and it is the cheaper of the two shopping centres for car parking.

As well as a good range of shops there is also a holmes place gym which is accessible via the car park. Some big named shops are available in the observatory including Argos, TK Maxx, Peacocks etc. Accessible via the main high street this shopping centre can get very busy, especially in peak times.

So when the Chimes came along, rather than fighting the much more modern looking competitor it just slumped into defeat and now is a bit of a sad shadow of its former self. It retains some of the old stores from its hey day, but for the most part, the bigger stores are in the Chimes. But I still like it, it was important to my childhood but the days of going to the back corner for Zodiac Toys to see what Thundercats they had in is long gone. These days of goths started hanging out the front I don't think they would bother to pull out the newly installed raises flower beds so that they'd have to move on as there wouldn't be anything to lean against. These days they'd just be welcomed.

There are lots of different outlets in the store and I love the Jane Norman part even though it is quite small. Some things seem expensive. Even just getting a taste of Harrods, I can see why people love this posh department store. I checked out Harrods before catching my flight and was happy to see all the merchandise they had, especially since it's just an airport location, so the inventory is limited. But it was nice to see the designers they offered here, and since I love Tory Burch, they had an entire section just for Tory Burch. The staff were super friendly and even told me what products would be cheaper to get back home versus in London, so it wasn't all about them making money. I ended up getting a Tory Burch card wallet and they escorted me to the other section of Harrods where they offered more of their gift items. This was perfect as I was able to get some gifts for loved ones. Glad I was able to get a glimpse of Harrods, a London specialty.

Okay so it might be last season's stuff but for people like me who shop for what suits them rather than what's in style, it's a great place to pick up good quality, well cut clothes for much less than high street prices. And it's not just clothes. They also have a home section where you can get beautiful home decoration items at a fraction of the price. Not to mention more basic items like sheets, kitchenware, duvets, serving plates etc. They also have a wide selection of toys and boxes of chocolates at discounts - very handy for gifts.

Where to start, well for those that don't know at motorway services you used to just get ripped off for your fuel and a stale sandwich!! But not anymore and certainly not at a service centre branded as 'Extra'. This service station has in it (take deep breath) M&S Simple Food, WHSmith, KFC, Mc Donald's, Starbucks, Greggs, as the usual suspects you get at most services. However they also have Nandos, Patisserie Valerie, El Mexican (never heard of them personally), Chozen Noodle, Carvery Express, Eat In, Dominos and (controversially) a JF Weatherspoons (yes that service station which actually made the news a while back for having a pub on site). There is also a Days Inn on site if you decide to sample the pubs menu as well as meeting rooms available to hire. The complex is bright and airy and has been built to reflect its modern status. It is a little bit away from the motorway (depending which way you are approaching it from) but once you are in you are well and truly spoilt for choice. What about the prices I hear you ask, similar to most service stations, still all seems over priced to me but what can you do? Well obviously not stop here but sometimes needs must!! So I would suggest that no matter how fussy you are if you cannot find something to eat or drink (if you are that way inclined) here then there is no hope!!!
