Man.... With a name like "The Old Spaghetti Factory", how do you screw up spaghetti and meat sauce? There were only about 4 tables being served in the bar area tonight (including me). The waitress was nice. She was attentive without being bothersome, and she kept my glass filled. She gets 5 stars for her effort... but the food was another story. The spaghetti was just ok (at best). When the name of the meal is in the name of the restaurant, it should be excellent. That was not the case. When my spaghetti and meat sauce was placed in front of me, it looked pretty good. As I started to fold the sauce into the noodles, I immediately saw a small body of water swirling at the bottom of my plate. I can't think of any other Italian place where my spaghetti was served almost floating- not Buca di Beppo, not Olive Garden, not even Fazoli's. What it DID remind me of was a trip to Skyline Chili, where you expect to see the mysterious reddish-orange water at the bottom of your plate. My wife and I have eaten here several times. The food had always been pretty good until this visit. I ordered the garlic fettuccine with shrimp. Not good. You could see the fettuccine was not cooked fresh and it looked old. The garlic cream sauce was like glue. A few of the shrimp still had the shells on their tails (I found this out while eating them). I ate most of it because I was hungry, but mentioned to the waiter that I was disappointed with the meal. It just wasn't as good as others I had there. I was happy that the manager took my meal off the bill. However, later in the evening I did not feel well. I was nauseated and my stomach hurt. I can only attribute this condition to the dinner I had. My wife had the spaghetti and meatballs (which is what I usually order) and she had no issues. We visited on a Thurs eve for dinner. I definitely want to say that we had excellent service from our waitress, no complaints there. Chicken seemed to be way overcooked and tough, and the marsala wine sauce did not taste anything like Marsala wine (not sure if there was actually any wine in there), it did not have much flavor at all actually. My girlfriend ordered the Pot Pori, which she said was "OK", said the clam sauce was not very good. Bread, salad, were good, and spumoni was enjoyable. But the entrees, the main part of the meal were disappointing. I would think pasta and other sauces should be perfected, especially at a place with such a long history. I should have mentioned it at the time with managers who came to the table asking how everything was, but I did not want to spoil the time for anyone else at the table, who seemed to enjoy their meal. It has been years since my last visit to one of these stores but, we have my 19-month old and need some kid-friendly places lately. After visiting the Christmas Market nearby - we stopped in for dinner and had to wait about 40 minutes and the staff were exceptionally understanding about my adventurous daughter who doesn't like to sit still. When they seated us, we were in a quiet back room area and our waitress was prompt and took excellent care of us. I didn't realize everything was a 3-course meal and the prices were very fair for the portion size and amount of food. I chose the meatballs with meat-sauce and angel hair pasta, a ceasar salad, and spumoni ice cream. The bread was delicious and the portions were huge. The salad was out quickly and served on a chilled plate and was a huge portion. The meat sauce was delicious and hot with two large meatballs. I couldn't finish it all but I sure did try! She got the mushroom sauce and the cheese and brown butter. Both meals came with hot bread, choice of soup, or salad, and ice cream. I really liked the sausage and meat sauce. Of the two pastas my wife got, she preferred the mushroom sauce. It was a red sauce with mushrooms. The cheese and brown butter was more a white sauce, and a little rich for her taste. However, our server said that it was one of the customer favorites. So, give it a try, you may like it! We sat in the bar area. Our server was friendly and prompt. Our food was quick to be delivered and was hot. We find it funny, every time we visit, that their Parmesan is the stuff out of the green can. We always wish they served fresh shaved Parmesan cheese, similar to Olive Garden. As mentioned, this is a chain restaurant. Do not come here expecting fresh handmade or unique pasta dishes. We had not been to an old spaghetti factory forever. We thought we would give it a try 4 of us made reservations. Dinner includes soup or salad and the main course along with spumoni ice cream. We love this Old Spaghetti Factory location. We always asked to sit in the chairs by the far windows - large wing backed chairs away from larger groups. My usual order is the Managers Favorite, pairing the white clam sauce with brown butter with Mizithra cheese. The chef will probably hate me, but I immediately stir the two together and eat them in combination. Delicious! This combination, along with the house salad with creamy pesto dressing, and spumoni for dessert, makes for a lovely meal. Oh, and I always include a piece or two of their freshly baked, crusty soft bread. My husband usually gets either the baked lasagna, or the spaghetti with meat sauce. You can't go wrong with either of these. Very solid classics. This time, though, he deviated and tried the crab ravioli, and said it was very good. Went for an early dinner to have my 'free' birthday entree. The spinach artichoke dip was a perfect start. A salad and a soup led to the Pasta with meat sauce and an order of wild mushroom ravioli which were very good washed down with glasses of the Conundrum red blend. Disappointing experience from start to finish. The service was painfully slow and the staff seemed completely unorganized -- orders were delayed with no clear communication and no sense of urgency. After a very long wait for our food, we were told a discount would be applied due to the delay, which we appreciated at the time. Unfortunately, when the bill came, we were charged full price anyway. To make matters worse, when the food finally arrived, the meatballs in the spaghetti were undercooked, which is unacceptable from a food safety standpoint. At that point, the frustration outweighed any chance of enjoying the meal. Between the extreme wait times, the lack of organization, and the failure to honor what was promised, this was a very poor dining experience. We won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone expecting decent service or properly prepared food. read more

I haven't been to spaghetti factory in years & was excited to check out the Carmel location. This location has a cool train with some booth seating that I'm sure is every kids favorite place to sit! Our server for the evening was nice but she kind of seemed like she didn't want to be there. No real issues either way overall with service, just not impressed. Spaghetti factory does have a gluten free menu- I had the GF mizithra pasta with grilled chicken breast. The chicken breast was fantastic! The first few bites of my pasta I thought were great but then the taste got too overwhelming- maybe too much butter or oil or just not a fan of mizithra cheese. I'm not sure but 1 hour after dinner my stomach hurts thinking of that meal. I would not get the sauce again but would definitely get the chicken. My husband had the chicken Alfredo with marinated chicken and that chicken tasted more dry. Each meal comes with salad and icecream. The balsamic vinegarette dressing was a little too vinegary for me so I was glad I went with the creamy pesto. And icecream- nothing to complain about but was a nice finish to the meal! read more

Our group was all adults, but I think their target customer base is families with young children. I had the soup and it was fine; a basic very mildly seasoned minestrone which I preferred over the iceberg lettuce salad option. For my entree, I had the Pot Pourri which included marinara, meat sauce, white clam, and brown butter sauces on spaghetti. The brown butter was unique and definitely the best of the 4. It was rich and I really liked the combination of the nutty brown butter and cheese topping. The other 3 were good, and would be kid friendly. The scoop of spumoni ice cream for dessert was a nice finish. They were very short staffed and everyone was hustling like crazy t take orders and get food and drinks out. Management were jumping in as servers as well. Yes, service was slow, but we were in no hurry as we wanted time to visit anyway, and could see how hard everyone was working. And...somehow everyone was super nice despite likely being dead tired. Anyway, if you're in the mood for spaghetti comfort food, this isn't a bad option particularly if you have kids with you. Parking is available behind the restaurant in a free garage which is actually where the main entrance is...main entrance is not on Rangeline and I drove past it the first time; there is no lighted sign on the front. Didn't get food or drinks from the bar for over an hour. Tables next to us that were seated go their food and left before we even got our food. Food was luke warm at best.
