I am going to preface this review by saying we only had dinner and were not there for any live music which seems to be the only draw of this place. But my family and I went at around 5 on Friday night which is admittedly a little early; however, we became a little concerned when we were the only people there. We literally saw no one else, employees or customers. The building is big and is beautiful inside but we walked into the main dining room area and it was just a clutter of different shaped tables scattered in a nonsensical way. No one said anything to us until we walked up to the bar and asked for our menus, they gave us drink menus and a few food menus but told us they didn't have any more because all the others went missing. These were just pieces of paper so I would advise that they invest 50 cents and print more than 4 menus, and while they're at it they can correct the plentiful errors. Our waitress was very nice but was also quite young, she brought out a few drinks for those who didn't order beers and the rest of us were left with nothing while we waited, when we finally asked she told us she wasn't 18 and couldn't serve alcohol which is in no way her fault. But if this is the case whoever brings the beers needs to be a lot faster. Although, for a place that is very evidently not known for their food, I'm baffled as to why you would hire someone who can't serve alcohol. The food was mediocre at best and it was priced accordingly, we spent around $130 after a proper tip and 6 of us ate with 5 of us having beers as well. One of us was left waiting for a beer which didn't come until we had to remind someone and we also had to ask more than once for a few things. Which if it had been busy would have been understandable but at this point we were one of two customers in the restaurant. I don't know about anyone else's but I know that my burger was not even close to hot and more like lukewarm by the time I got it however, it wasn't terrible. Overall I don't know how many excuses can be made: the food was just not good, my dad was upset he even recommended we go, and the service just wasn't good. But I still don't blame the waitress and this isn't to make her feel bad, as someone who waited tables I understand it can be hard at first but there does need to be quality control in place. Skip the pizza: it is not flatbread and I can't be convinced otherwise. Skip the tea: it is made from mix, looks as dark as coffee, and tastes like dirt. And the queso is good but some of the tortilla chips are fairly stale. read more

Great place! I have gotten to know everyone and my wife and I have a great time especially at the crawfish boil on Saturdays.

I came here with my dad, step mom, and husband on a Saturday when they were doing a crawfish boil. The crawfish was on point (I can vouch for that since I am a Cajun), and Jessica, the owner, personally made my drink. They make you feel at home and comfortable. Compared to The Texas, The Old Post Office is a more "high-end" establishment. No smoking in the building was a big plus for me. I went during the times they served food with my five-month-old baby. It was a great environment for her. I will be visiting again in the future, and hopefully more crawfish will be available! Great job, OPO! read more

When I first walked into The Old Post Office I was blown away by the decor. The atmosphere was great which and the service was top notch. I ordered a burger and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. This is a family friendly restaurant that is more than just a place to eat dinner. It was an experience! My wife and I drove to the Old Post Office from Cypress TX to see the live music last night. It was our first time at the establishment. It was an emotional event for my wife. Her Daddy was the Post Master in Caldwell for many, many years. And, to make it even more emotional, the live music was by her brother and a high school classmate. After my wife walked me thru the building we settled down for an adult beverage and some chips and queso. The food was awesome. The decor was awesome. The service was awesome. The music was awesome (of course)! It is well worth the time to try this place. Please help support the small business owner. read more
