As a student returning home and staying there for two nights with my partner (he's allergic to cats and couldn't therefore stay in the house) I am utterly disgusted. The manager was rude and unapologetic and accused us of opening the fire door which we didn't. Our room was on the very end next to the fire door which was mysteriously ajar when we got there. No alarm went off too. I would avoid this place like the plague. Having that amount of money taken on the day we arrived was a shock to my system and is the equivalent of two months to live on for me at uni. There was no notice or reason for why it was taken which means it is essentially theft and therefore illegal. The manager was rude and moved me to tears with his accusing tone, making me feel not only unwelcome but also like a criminal. If you're on a budget or a student like myself DO NOT STAY HERE. I don't want the same thing to happen to anyone else. I got my money back in the end but with no apology and the manager told my mother it was a "goodwill gesture" and that I was basically lucky that I got it back at all. I am so disappointed it is unreal. I have grown up beside the establishment and always went there for meals- now I never want to set foot in the pub or hotel ever again. Me and my father are taking it higher and I believe the case is being investigated.

The pool is shared with the spa and family access is limited and only during certain times a day. We got an hour access from 9-10 but my daughter was disappointed that no other children were at the pool at the same time. The beds including a roll away were very comfortable, the bedding and towels were soft and wonderful. The blackout curtains were on point and the AC was effective and silent. The only criticism I have is the in room safe barely fit my engineering laptop and the safe was placed very high, well above my head anyhow. I was witness to a rude American complaining at the desk and the gal handled it with grace.

Exit the station from platform one and you'll be in reception in just a couple of minutes. This hotel is a standard Hilton By Hampton build and does what is says on the tin. It's clean, comfortable and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. As with all HBH hotels, you get free wifi and a buffet breakfast (standard fare, but serves its purpose). Rooms are standard in design and come complete with multichannel flat screen tv, radio alarm clock, tea/coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, walk-in shower and there's a workable desk with plug sockets in the right place. The hotel serves meals from 11:00 till 22:00, but there's a 24/7 menu too (pizzas etc). It's not elaborate, but more than serves its purpose. For those unfamiliar with the area, there are no eating establishments within sensible walking distance from the hotel (other than disgraceful prices at the airport), so unless you have a car, the onsite restaurant will serve you well. There are car parking facilities at the hotel, which costs £6 a night. The hotel has a bar which is open 24/7. If you are relying on public transport, aside from the train station next door, there's the bus to the airport as well as in to Luton town and the surrounding area. The hotel is located just a few minutes from the M1 motorway as well as several main "A" roads. The Hampton By Hilton Luton is ideal for an overnight stay, pre or post departure from the airport, or if you are area. You may need to watch the room rates as sometimes they can be a little on the high side (supply and demand, I realise). I paid £63.20 for the night and thought I'd got myself a good deal.
