Stay: 2 nights - 18/6/25 to 18/6/25…read more NOTE: Leticia was very helpful in providing additional information. The hotel has been going through a refurbishment and continues (see more details on their site). Previously, none of the rooms were ready i.e., refurbished when I visited 17/3/25 to 19/3/25 and no safes in the room. This visit was different; I had one of the new suites (William - 12). As you'd expect all smelling rather new. There were stairs leading upto a lounge area for the pull-out bed and a separate chair. It was very warm up there as there was no aircon. The main bedroom had new aircon above the door and did its job. The room was well laid out. Perhaps the wardrobe would be too small for a couple using the suite, then also adding the use of the room upstairs (no wardrobe up there). A good size and modern TV was on the wall above the dressing table. The remote had two defined buttons - Netwlix and YouTube. Obviously, you have to use your personal account to access Netflix. However, it also supports "CAST", and with my mobile I was able to access: Paramount+, ITVX, and Amazon Prime. Of course, don't forget to sign-out before leaving. :-) WIFI I didn't find it to be a particularly strong signal in the room. Bathroom A good space and adequate shelf areas. My only niggle here is having a shower over a bath and cocking one's leg over to access. I prefer a walk-in shower. It does have a cascade shower and a separate shower attachment. At least it doesn't use a shower curtain (although the instructions on the wall refers to a curtain); it has a glass swing partition (best description I can use). However, when getting out it does mean that the floor becomes wet. I would have benefited from having a handrail to assist the exit. A rubber mat is provided so that you don't slip in the bath. Clearly, everything was spotlessly clean & new. Parking The spaces for the disabled were blocked off with a skip and partitions, in addition, a further two spaces adjacent to the ones for the disabled were blocked off too. Unfortunately, the message that that sends is that the disabled are not welcome. Driving around to the leisure centre "Nuffield Health" there were two more available for the disabled (but this would mean a longer walk to reception). As per usual (I find), one was used by someone not displaying the Blue Card! Reception Small reception area, but this temporary and the new one will be closer to the bar and restaurant. When completed, the temporary one will be used for access to the functions rooms. Bar The first night I was there the bar hadn't been completely setup for draught drinks and only bottled beer , etc., was available. £4.50 for a bottle of Becks (330ml) seemed excessive working out at £7.74 per pint. The second night. The bar was up and running, a pint of San Miguel £6.30, again, more expensive than expected. Also on tap was Camden PA & Stella Artois. A small serving bar, not yet fully stocked, I'd say. Limited in area of whiskies and gins available. It has a coffee machine for all of the standard offerings. It is situated in "The Great Hall". There is a large balcony overlooking the bar area. Restaurant I didn't eat in the restaurant, but I have uploaded the menu. Breakfast is buffet style and it's suggested that it will be replaced by a plated service moving forward. Nevertheless, I guess it is going to be down to personal preference. I didn't have breakfast, so I can't say what's on offer nor the quality. Staff All pleasant and ameniable. One exception, not major, as the person was professional in most ways; he brought me a bottle of Becks without a glass. I am of the age whereby I don't drink out of bottles in a restaurant. It was brought to me upon my request. Is it a lack of training or their personal experience? There's a mixture of staff, new and old. Apparently, the chef hasn't change post-refurbishment. They have a specials' menu that is changed weekly. The main menu items may change within the next few weeks. NOTE: I have no information about the function rooms and I'd suggest visiting their site. Why have dropped one star? Two things: the bar prices and the lack of a walk-in shower. Would I return? Not out of choice, as it is further away from my customer's site and, as I have mentioned, I think the bar prices are too high.

Quality of the food was good, service pro-active and if there was a question, they were eager to assist. Overall impression was good, as when being in a party, these aspects sometimes suffer resulting in a kind of 'plastic' atmosphere. Thumbs up.
