We visited St. Augustine this weekend to celebrate Halloween so of course we had to book a ghost tour. I am obsessed with doing ghost tours in different cities and absolutely love all things Halloween. However, so many ghost tours have gotten a bit bland over time and allow way too many patrons on the tours. Enters The Odd Macabre. I was elated to find this family owned business and see that the tours are capped at a certain number of people. The other thing that stuck out to me was the "Lifting The Veil" tour which was not only a ghost tour but an actual investigation. So we booked it! The tour guide brought equipment so we were able to attempt to interact with ghosts. And it was amazing! Not only was our tour guide super awesome but she was knowledgeable and clearly was very interested in the paranormal which made it so much better! Our tour ended up being only about 10 people so it was very intimate and I had the best experience. Seriously one of the best ghost tours I've been on in awhile and clearly this is not my first rodeo! Wow! What an absolute hidden gem. The Odd Macabre Company is a spectacular stop. Here you get to design your own, unique candle. They conduct an hour long candle workshop. During the workshop, you get to choose up to 3 scents, create a label, stir wax, and implant a wick. While the candle sets for 2 hrs you can walk around St. Augustine. The couple that runs this shop are wonderful. They're so kind and offer water, hot coco, and coffee. Lots of fun to talk to. They also offer ghost tours and scavenger hunts. This was easily the highlight of my trip. read more

For my hubby's birthday present, I booked the Witchcraft Candle Parlor. It's candle making and it was great. Over 70 different scented oils to choose from. We were walked through the process and our instructor was perfectly patient with us all. Seating for 8. All supplies are within reach. We picked our own container and our colored wax. Had a great time tonight with our guide Lynn on the Spooky St. Augustine walking tour. She was a lot of fun and engaging with our group. This is an all ages experience and she is great with kids, though us grownups also had fun learning about some spooky history from her. Highly recommend this and other offerings from The Odd Macabre. We came here for a candle making session for my birthday today and had an absolute blast! The aesthetic and feel of the place is wonderful, spooky and spiritual. Wonderfully warm and helpful staff, our "candle teacher" was so helpful and thoughtful, never made us feel rushed or anything, and very knowledgeable! 10 ??? "LIFTING THE VEIL" was an excellent tour, to be sure. I this tour group and experience. It was the highlight of our stay in St. Augustine. Our tour guide, Lynn, was phenomenal!!! She was very well versed in the history of the area, and it was educational as well as exciting. She was very personable and an absolute delight to talk to, share 'ghosty' pictures with & trade ghost stories with. My sister & I brought along some of our own equipment, using it in addition to her equipment. We witnessed some unusual 'activity' during her tour, especially in St. Francis Park and along Palm Way. We ended up leaving one of our 'cat ball' ghosty detectors at the park for the spirits to play with since they activated it when asked, and they seemed to like it. Seemed like a fair trade. The tour itself is a walking tour, so be sure to wear those walking shoes as you'll be covering 1.5 to 2 miles easy. It was well paced, with several stops along the way, to explain history and experiences from past groups. It wasn't 'rushed' at all. They limit the group size to 12 (our tour had 10 people total) which makes it an even more intimate experience. And no kiddos allowed on the 'Veil' tour. Enjoyable!!! read more

Me and my girlfriend are in town for her birthday and she loves all things spooky as well as all things self care. When I saw the candle making class I immediately decided this would be a great activity for our trip! And how right I was we had so much fun picking our scents and creating fun concoctions from this establishments large assortment of scents! Have done two experiences with the Odd Macabre, both were memorable and fantastic. Highly recommend the 13 Keys self paced ghost tour for families. We had so much fun along the way and we loved being able to stop and grab a snack when needed. We just completed the True Crime tour with James, and not only was it informative, James was engaging, funny, and personable. The true crime walk is 2 hours and the content is definitely for adults and we really enjoyed it. Can't wait to come back next time we are in St. Augustine for another experience. read more

Hands down this is one of the coolest places, run by the best people! While in town for a bachelorette party my friends and I opted for a candle making season here. We had the entire place to ourselves and had so much fun!! That evening we returned for the self guided ghost scavenger hunt. This experience made our trip totally memorable. From the music playing walking into the establishment, the aesthetic once inside, and the warmth and charisma of the staff, it was all incredible! We did the self guided scavenger hunt for an evening of adventure for ourselves while in town. The owner was very nice and explained everything we were going to do and look for. It took us about two hours to complete the scavenger hunt. Overall it was nice to be able to go out own our own and not feel like a herd of cattle being taken around town by a tour guide. We learned a lot and would recommend this for people who like to go at their own pace and enjoy the town. read more
