My 89 year-old mother was heartbroken when her last cat died, and I can't tell you how grateful I was to find Tara and the Odd Cat Sanctuary. Tara made the process simple and stressless. She was supportive, informative and kind. The cat's foster parent, too, was very helpful. My mother's new adoptive cat, Hamilton, was initially a challenge due to the cat's circumstances prior to arrival at the OCS, but Tara remained committed to providing assistance when needed and has always been accessible. And now, my mother is devoted to Hamilton, and Hamilton won't leave her side. A word about Tara: As a vet tech in a vet hospital, she is a professional in her field, assisting with surgical procedures and the like full time to ease suffering and promote healthy animals. When not working, she is volunteering her time to the cats in her care, many of whom have been abused and neglected, or have medical issues. She has taken my calls after overnight shifts, when she's been sleep deprived, and come by on her days off. She will do all in her power to ensure both the cat and the new forever family are well matched and well adjusted. If you are interested in adopting a special cat, please don't hesitate to contact Tara. These cats need homes, and Tara wants them to find them.

I have nothing good to say about this organization. My fiancé and I adopted a blind cat on the evening of February 12. By February 14, he was back with his foster. The cat appeared to be in good health at the foster home and we were told he had just been to a vet (the vet papers I received after adoption said he had last seen a vet over a month prior) and that he was litter box trained. Less than 48 hours in our apartment, the cat had diarrhea 5 times (none of it in the multiple litter boxes) and three carpets had to be thrown away. He caused over $100 worth of damage our my home. The cats eye sockets (he had no eyeballs but still had tear ducts) started discharging a thick, yellow goop that could be smelled from across the room. I contacted TOCS and they said it was "stress", but we have 4 other healthy cats and didn't want to take a chance of them getting ill. The foster asked us to meet him in a bar parking lot so he could pick the kitten up from us. We were told by him that the cat would be going to the vet the next day. When we adopted the cat, I was put into a group chat with the foster and five other nameless people from TOCS and told to keep all conversations about the cat in the chat so everyone could read everything. When the cat was still in our home, and I was expressing my concerns, everyone was so quick to reply. As soon as the cat was picked up, getting anyone in the group chat to reply was a hassle and they said the cat no longer needs to go to the vet. TOCS is refusing to give me my adoption fee back ($225) and refusing to respond to my multiple texts and emails. I understand that the adoption contract says they don't usually return adoption fees but it also says that they do every thing to ensure the cat is healthy upon adoption. We had the animal for less than 48 hours. Also, the foster home he came from was a small 2 bedroom apartment and there were 11 other cats living there. The Odd Cat is a scam, they are making multiple adoption fees off of the same cat and the fosters and shelter are hoarding cats. Unprofessional, and the worst shelter I have ever dealt with. I will be reporting The Odd Cat and spreading the word about them; I am affiliated with several catteries, cat registries and cat shows across the country.

I had such an awesome experience adopting my cat, Agatha, from Odd Cat. The application and interview process was smooth and professional. I understood that I was working with an all volunteer organization, but I was still surprised by how responsive and helpful everyone was through the process. Even now, 3 months later, they have been really helpful with questions or concerns that come up. Agatha is 7 and had come from NY in rough shape. Her Odd Cat foster mom took amazing care of her! Odd Cat Sanctuary had her spayed and gave me her medical records, pointed me in the direction of a really nice vet, and have continued to be a great resource. I would definitely recommend going through them to give a kitten or older cat with special circumstances a second chance in a safe, loving home!!!

I adopted my cat through here . They made the process easy . It meant a lot how much they cared she went to good home . They talked to me asked what kind of cat I was looking for and though she would be a great match . Turns out she was perfect ! She was abused and came from a shelter and was saved by them ! And I'm so grateful for them for doing that . She love cuddling and treats ! Her name is taco and she is amazing . I'd adopt through them again .

They have strict rules that don't make sense to me. I was told the owner would help talk to the adoption Lady, but unfortunately that seems like it didn't work out very well. I had the same cat for 15 years and was 17 when he passed. I moved into a bigger apartment to give him more space and easy access to various parts of the new apartment. Unfortunately he passed away. When I applied I was denied because I have only lived in my current place for 6 months. I offered to provided references, to speak to my vet and provide my past landlords number. I explained that I live in an apartment ran by a property management company and that they could try to speak with someone but it was very hard. I gave them a copy of my lease that says I am allowed to pets. I was denied still. This makes me sad, because I just want to give a furry friend a forever home and the adoption lady was not willing to.

They take in animals that are sick or hurt and lovingly look for homes for all of them. I adopted my two kittens from the shelter just over a year ago. They had been taken, along with their mother and a few other cats, from a hoarder's home. Because they were so young, the mother and the litter were placed in foster care until the kittens were ready to go to their forever homes. As soon as all of the kittens were placed, the mom was spayed and placed in her own forever home shortly thereafter. The staff is incredibly loving and caring. If you are looking to rescue a pet, Marblehead Abandoned Animals should be your first stop - as it will surely be your last.

Donna is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the breed and 100% committed to their health and well-being. She put a lot of emphasis on preventative care and tells you exactly what kind of medications, food, and other products are best for them. Her home is also impressively clean. No odors, no mess. You wouldn't even know she has cats if you didn't see them yourself, which just goes to show how well she maintains everything. And the cats themselves are just extraordinary. So full of affection, intelligence, elegance, and just pure love. It's hard for me to imagine life without one of these wonderful creatures. I went here and I brought my cat on a leash and we sat quietly in the area and everything was fine. They were very friendly and fond over my cat and he was put at ease and behaved great through the entire exam and the shots. Today when I went, I had a terrible experience and when I brought my cat in on the leash, nobody said hello to me or my I went up to the desk to check in and they said I was checked didn't ask me how my was or say anything friendly to me. Meanwhile, every dog that came got a treat a hello and all kinds of attention I thought maybe it was just because they knew those dogs but then a few minutes later they came out with a cardboard pet carrier and told me cats have to be in pet carriers. They didn't look at me nicely. They didn't say I'm really sorry but we need your to go into this carrier. They didn't say anything soothing to my cat. They didn't even pet him. He was very upset about going into the carrier since he normally goes around places on a leash and a harness. Every I've ever gone to I've taken him in with a leash and a harness and he's always done fine and I said why does he have to go into a pet carrier? They said because he could get hurt by a dog or a dog might attack him and I said well then shouldn't a dog wear a muzzle and they looked at me and and said we don't muzzle dogs here to which I said, but you can put cats cardboard so that the dogs don't hurt the cat? I would think that it's the dogs that need to be rained in. From that point on they didn't have any conversation with me. They did not apologize to me. They did not try to calm my down and when we went in for the exam, my was obviously upset and was and the that came in Dr. Gallagher was not who I had originally made the appointment with when she entered. She She immediately put hands on my cat, who hissed at her. She didn't try to calm him down. She didn't talk to him. She didn't say anything at all to him as a matter of fact, and then she took to draw Blood and she told me that they couldn't because he was too upset and I needed to take him home and sedate him. I've never done anything like that. He doesn't hiss at people the only thing that upsets him is getting his nails clipped. I will never go there again and I recommend you don't either especially if you have a cat.
