The breakfast room had a lovely view of the turn in the canal. You can easily walk into Nottingham centre along the canal too, where you can get to the cool bars that are on the canal. If you go along canal the opposite way you will meet the Trent river and have a smashing view of Notts Forests City grounds. It's a nice walk too, during which we saw a family of Canada Geese. I guess it'd be a pretty handy hotel for the of Notts Forests games, as well as any of the cricket games at Trent Bridge.

The hotel has very nice grounds, and is located in a quiet residential estate near a major motorway (M1). I was also impressed with their restaurant, Blossoms. The extensive menu options, quality of the food and most importantly, they are open all day until 9pm, with room service as well. All too often, I will check into a hotel after flying all night from the US, coupled with a train journey, only to discover my hotel's on-site restaurant is only open for breakfast, and dinner starting at 5pm. The last thing a traveler with my schedule wants is to be required to forage for a decent, relaxing place for a meal after checking in. Definitely not an issue at the DoubleTree. I travel to Nottingham on business at least four times per year. I used to stay in the city center, but the environment is two hectic and the hotels are not nearly as nice as the DoubleTree. Once we finally trekked what seemed like 5miles backwards and forwards around the hotel to find our room, we were more than a little disappointed. ROOM: On arriving at our room we found the key card we had recieved from reception all of 5minutes ago did not work. I got the short straw and made the trek back to reception. This time i collected 2 key cards, thinking at least one would work. No such luck. Eventually i phoned reception and asked someone to come up. Finally we're in. Unfortunately it didn't get much better. The room was tiny, and the bathroom not great. BATHROOM: The water pressure in the shower was APPAULING. If you were holding the shower head at any angle other than directly about you it was hard to get the water to reach you. I literally finished my shower still covered in soap, because it was doing my head in. FOOD: Were due to meet a the groom in nottingham town centre for a few pre-wedding drinks. Thought we'd grab a quick bite to eat50minutes later our 2 burgers arrived, i wouldn't mind so much, but we were the only people in the bar eating. WEDDING: The chapel was very nice, and the whole day very pleasant. Apart from the staffs distinct lack of urgancy when serving both food and drink, even at the bar, the food was nice and well cooked. OVERALL: Looks nice from the outside, dig a little deeper and you are sure to be disappointed

Rooms are beautiful we stayed in one of the suites and it was out of this world. They hold weddings there and perform ceremonies. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food is just great. Fantastic relaxing surroundings. I would love to stay there again. We chose this location for our wedding and was so impressed with the service and helpfulness and the photographs were fantastic.

This property also has a golf course, so you'll see lots of foot traffic around the back side, where there's a restaurant and golf shop. We stayed at the property for a couple of nights and our room was great. It faced the interior, so we could see a beautiful flower garden and more of a wooded area. Our room was a bit dated but well maintained. One thing I did not realize until we arrived is that our room, at least (and maybe all rooms), did not have air conditioning. Luckily for us, the (summer) temperature was comfortable, but this could be an issue if you visit during a hot spell. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant both mornings and it was delightful. A traditional English spread (buffet) with self seating. Overall, staff was great. The only thing I'd caution against is the amount of stairs you'll have to go up and down trying to get from one place to the other just within the hotel since the topography has rooms and hallways at all levels. Pack lightly or ask for your bags to be delivered to your room at arrival.

The pictures were ok and the price was too so I decided to stay here. I was booked into one of their suites and wasn't let down at all. The room was really spacious, with a really nice, large bed, a large living area and nice en suite bathroom. Small touches like a nespresso machine and complimentary soft drinks were in the room. The room was in really good condition, very clean, light and had really nice decor. (see the pictures) The staff were also really friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back and stay here. The location in the middle of town is ideal! Great hotel, great city!

I had mentioned my husband's birthday to the staff as I asked them to have a bottle of wine waiting for us upon arrival, which they were more than happy to accommodate, and they also wrote him a little card along with some complimentary shortbread cakes and vouchers for two free drinks at the hotel bar. Such attention to detail and going out of their way to make our stay a good one was incredible, especially as we were only there for one night. I paid extra and went for a large executive room (shown in the photos I uploaded Room 201) at first glance it didn't look like you got a whole lot extra, but there is more space in the room, the bed is HUGE and one of the most comfortable night's sleeps I have ever had, and the shower was powerful and big enough for two ;) Despite being in the city centre, the noise level was minimal and the staff were friendly and helpful no matter what time of day, night or early morning we spoke to them! Breakfast was of good quality and had a lot of variety to choose from delicious all round. Would recommend and if I venture Nottingham way again, I will definitely be staying here!

All rooms are well appointed and the lounge bar is superb but the crowning glory is the restaurant. Jason as head chef continually comes up with new menus of superb, mouthwatering standard. Believe me, because of business I stayed here for over six months. One thing that Jason will not do is cook to a price,all ingredients are fresh so expct to pay a reasonable cost for this. Perhaps Qypers from some parts of the country will still think the prices cheap but you will be surprised by the standards. So if it's business or pleasure (they do have a Four Poster) that takes you this way then book in and rest awhile in comfort, but do book ahead as they do get full both in the restaurant and in the hotel.

It was £160 for a night, we did have a lovely big room with a flatscreen TV, but to be honest the best value we got was happening to be right next to the refreshments room. In there they had a fridge that was full of bottled beers and wine, which we made the most of! There we're also a selection of canapes in there. We did try room service, it wasn't great though, £10 for tomato soup and some seemingly stale bread, this was at about 2am though. The rooms were nice, very well kept, the bed and sheets were great, the bath/shower was decent, but for the price things definitely could have been a bit better.
