First of all this hotel is a historic place. It has been around for hundreds of years. The rooms are smaller but still nice sized. There is no air conditioning but remember the days get to upper 70's during the summer. The staff here are beyond helpful. They are super friendly super overall. This place is a gem the employees are a gem the pub is great. The restaurant serves 5 star meals that you would expect from a high end restaurant. Do not miss this place. read more

Gayle and I enjoyed a recent Lunch at the Noel Arms, and this definitely wasn't another smashed peas experience. Chef Induni's curry dishes were fabulous and a welcome treat. We both enjoyed the Chef's Special Curry entree which matched perfectly with a bitters pint. Hand's down, this was our best "pub grub" meal of our trip. read more

This was the overnight stay that made me feel Ready to leave my vacation and go home. It's a very tired hotel with squeaky floors and thin walls, a place where secrets are not kept well. You can literally hear your neighbor's everything. The staff was very nice and the curry was delicious. Coffee Shop is recommended, but a Good hotel to bypass. Feels neglected. read more

Pub review only: Granted, this place is on high street in the middle of a tourist town. You would expect typical day tripper food of middling quality served by disinterested employees who treat patrons like they are two legged bank cash machines. Well, though I did not feel the love here, I was slightly more satisfied than I hoped. I saw other diners receiving huge plates of food that looked rather delicious. I ordered the hake plate. My wife got the goat cheese salad with a side of steamed vegetables. The dining room was full of patrons on this Monday bank holiday. From time of order the plates were placed before us 30 minutes later. Surprisingly, the portion sizes of these regular menu items were quite small. My hake fillet weighed no more than 4 ounces, 120grams. Happily the fresh fish tasted fine. Fresh vegetable medley was rather salty. My wife liked her salad. The goat cheese was flavorful and baked to that interesting chewy yet creamy consistency. We drank 2 glasses of acceptable quality rose'. We needed nothing more. The toilets were modern & clean. We genuinely thanked them and handed over 40 pounds. All is well that ends well. read more

We had a lovely stay in Chipping Campden. Quaint little city in the middle of the Cotswolds. We had two nights at Noel Arms and had a pleasant experience. Comfortable bed and pillows made for good night sleeps. The shower was a little small, so just don't drop anything We did have a long walk up and down stairs and through a couple of doors to get to our room. The breakfast was very good. The full English breakfast was quite filling along with the continental options. We also had dinner at the restaurant and ordered the Fish and Chips. The Haddock was nice and flakey and the chips were huge. The mushy peas had great flavor as well. Start with the bread board with olives and hummus, split the fish and chips, and wrap it all up with the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Good stuff. read more

This is a restaurant/pub review only, as we did not stay here. The fish & chips is absolutely the best in town! However, we only had it once in a 4 week period due to the dismal service. Several times we entered a seemingly busy pub but no one was available to serve us at the bar. After several such experiences we even tried making reservations. What a mistake! We arrived precisely 8 minutes before our reserved time and they seemed totally uninterested in giving us our table for 5 when they had plenty of empty tables. Finally, when they found the energy to offer us a table, they told us that we could only get drinks at the bar, not the table, since it was still 5 minutes until our official reservation. Needless to say, we left and found another restaurant. We actually landed at one that was already fully booked, but found a way to fit us in. So if you're in Chipping Campden, consider Red Lion or Eight Bells, for good food from people that appreciate your business. read more

You can't realllly go wrong with a stay in the Cotswolds - even if it is for work - but this hotel definitely adds to the experience! The Noel Arms is located in the charming but rather small Chipping Campden and is the sister hotel to Cotswold House located over the road. It is one of the oldest Cotswold inns and the decor inside adheres to this however the furniture is still in brilliant condition. On arrival the service was efficient and friendly. The rooms at the front of the hotel are easy enough to find but past that it becomes a bit of a maze so they kindly showed me to my room. It was a beautiful big room (unfortunately overlooking the car park) that was decorated in a neutral green and a spotless en suite. The room comes with all the essentials (shower gel, hair dryer, tea and coffee, tv) along with a cosy arm chair and a writing desk (not used!). The bed itself was massive, with a comfy mattress and dreamy pillows. The hotel is quiet especially at the back so I had a fantastic nights sleep, waking up fresh as a daisy and ready for some breakfast. They serve breakfast from 7-9am which consists of a cold buffet of pastries, fruit, cereal, yoghurt and juices as well a hot choice off their menu (Full English, kippers, eggs benedict etc). I tried their homemade granola which was amaaaazing and also greedily ordered toast and porridge. The bowl is HUGE and warming but it is just boring porridge - no exciting toppings available. The breakfast is included within the room price, which does come to quite a lot (although business rate is substantially better value). I arrived late to the hotel the night before however you must eat dinner at the restaurant. Their award winning curries are delicious and the desserts are beautifully presented and yuuuum! Also take advantage of the spa across the road at Cotswold House. Enjoy! read more

Our stay here was absolutely wonderful! Chipping Campden is a gorgeous town, and this is where we began our path across the 102 miles of Cotswold Way! The receptionist was incredibly friendly, nice, and accommodating, and went out of her way to help us! The place itself is amazingly beautiful, comfortable, clean, and a pleasure to be in. It is also located right in the center of town, so it is walking distance to everything! The hotel itself even has its own dining area, as well as a coffee shop filled with delicious treats, including gluten-free pastries and chocolates. Everyone on the staff was wonderfully nice! And the breakfast options in the morning were the BEST we had out of all the places we stayed on our walk. I highly recommend the smoked salmon and eggs in the morning, which should be included with your stay. They also had lots of fresh fruit, yogurt, and an array of cereals and fresh juices! Their dining menu was also great! The hotel is dog-friendly, and it was lovely to see all the dog owners relaxing about the hotel with their pets :) It also has wonderful views from the windows, and the entire layout is extremely pleasant. We had a blast here, and we were all sad our stay here wasn't longer than just one night! read more

I'll review several areas of the hotel. First I'll start with the positive. The cafe is amazing, they make amazing lattes and cappuccinos. The lady who works there at the cafe is super sweet and goes out of her way to make you feel accommodated. Their cheese and ham croissant was absolutely amazing ! And their carrot cake is good. All in all the cafe is great 5/5 stars for that part. Next the rooms. The rooms were reasonably priced, they had mediocre decorations although they did provide complimentary teas and coffees. The rooms also had complimentary toiletries which was nice. However, the rooms lacked air conditioning and only had one tiny fan to compensate. I understand the hotels here lack air on, but they usually have fans. It was far to hot, additionally someone closed our window in the early hours of the morning to clean them (from the outside)! which was extremely odd and felt like an invasion of privacy. So I'd probably give it a 3/5 stars for this part as well. The bar was decent, they had a great selection of drinks but there was absolutely no service, and took a while to receive the drinks. 3/5 stars for the bar. Where it really takes a hit is their restaurant !!! Firstly nobody seated us, we had to seat ourselves. Secondly, the menu doesn't list half of the ingredients in each dish. We got burgers for our extremely picky children and explained to them we only wanted the beef patty, and cheese in the burger. No salad or tomato or onion, etc. And we specified several times that they will not eat anything else. Then we get the burgers and there are onion rings on them, lettuce, a few vegetables, etc. They also seasoned the burger to an extreme which is irregular, the patty was ORANGE and extremely spicy which was not a pleaser with my picky children. They didn't listen to instructions about how the burger should be without any vegetables just the plain and dry burger and cheese. Then I ordered lamb which was extremely cold, and lacked any spices, and was not cooked correctly . Then we tried the award winning curry which was mediocre. I had a stomach ache after eating the food which lasted the whole night. Overall horrendous service, the food was lacking , and the waiter we talked to( which was at the bar because we had to tag them down to order food) didn't pay attention to my children's dietary needs. Also we went here 2 times to give it a second chance, and were disappointed both times. 0/5 stars. So the cafe is good, the rooms and bar are decent, but the restraint is horrendous. read more

I have never written a negative review before, so this is a bit heart breaking. Though the area is quite beautiful, there were some definite negative sides to staying at this hotel. 1. Slow service, though mildly friendly. 2. We were put in a room next to the parking lot on the first floor with a window that didn't lock. Sadly in this case, there were other rooms available. 3. Anti-American artwork on the wall of the lobby. Yes, I appreciate freedom of artistic expression and the artwork in itself was interesting, but clearly someone at the hotel thought it OK to put up for viewing and sale. It was a bit disconcerting to see our money (real dollar bills were used as the base of the artwork) blatantly used as a means of artistic expression and were definitely anti-American. I felt as if the staff was "tolerating" us. I would not stay at this hotel again. On a positive side, the coffee at the cafe was nicely presented and the food in the restaurant was good. read more
