The Nitro Bar was the first stop for my girlfriend and I on our recent trip to Newport. It was a pretty gray Sunday but the line still stretched down the block. While waiting in line a young kid drove by and screamed, "YOU'RE WAITING IN LINE FOR F***ING COFFEE? ARE YOU RET***ED?" Nice to see that the locals are friendly. The line moved pretty quick though and since we were provided a menu while waiting we decided what we were going to get while waiting. I got the Whipped Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Latte and my girlfriend got the Tangerine Matcha Latte. It took a while to get the drinks made since they were so busy but it wasn't a ridiculous wait. Service was very friendly and the inside actually looked really nice. However, given how busy they were it was almost impossible to grab some seats. We decided to take a walk down by the water and have our drinks there. Overall the drinks were pretty good. Mine had just the right amount of raspberry flavor without overpowering the coffee. I actually liked my girlfriend's tangerine matcha even better though. It sounded like a strange combination but it worked really well. The tangerine flavor with the oat milk came across as an orange creamsicle type of flavor and I really enjoyed it with the matcha. The baked goods we got were pretty standard, nothing particularly noteworthy but good nonetheless. I enjoyed the drinks, but the price and overall business were a bit much.

This cafe has some amazing drinks! The only downside is that you have to wait in a long line for the drink and there is never anywhere to sit inside. So this is kind of more of a grab and go place. I ordered the pistachio latte with pistachio cold foam, and was gift a pistachio body mist with my order. When you're in Newport, this is definitely a must see coffee spot!

My friends and I sure do, and on a recent Saturday, we were lucky enough to hit the Nitro Bar when there wasn't a line snaking out the door and down the block! We had super-friendly and super-efficient service ordering an espresso tonic, chocolate malt float and blood orange hibiscus tea (such a delectable purple-red color!) All three beverages were sipped to the very last drop! Special thanks for also stocking the fridge with bottles of Diet Coke. Not enough cafes/coffee bars offer this soda option and sometimes, a gal has to have her Diet Coke! The Nitro Bar is a cheerful place to sit and since we were fortunate enough to find seating, we decided to share a grilled Asiago bagel and ricotta toast with heirloom tomatoes. Yummy x 2, and just enough snacking to tide the three of us over until a late lunch. We've been to the Nitro Bar on Pond Ave. in Newport and Broadway in Providence -- never disappointed with beverages/food but be prepared to wait In a line most of the time.

Out of curiosity, I tried their raspberry latte but I personally preferred the banana latte and the blueberry vanilla latte over the raspberry. Overall, solid experience. I would recommend if you're in the area and willing to wait in line.
Yes there is always a line but Nitro is the best coffee shop on Thames. Loved the nitro cold brew on tap and there house made syrups definitely make their other drinks memorable. There is only a few tables in the cafe so prepare to take away.

As a person who enjoys a good espresso shot, I LOVED indulging in their banana latte and maple sea salt latte.
So I'll admit it, I'm down bad for Nitro Bar. The hype is so worth it. I stopped by today on what was my last day in Newport, ready to face a super long line. To my surprise, I was able to walk right in, order, AND get a table. I was a lucky girl I guess. I tried the blueberry vanilla float latte, and it was delicious-tasted just like a blueberry muffin. The everything bagel with the pesto cream cheese and tomato is also killer...highly suggest that. Please come to Long Island someday- we would love you so hard out here!

I don't usually like to visit "viral" places where you have to wait outside in a line, but I was really pleasantly surprised by The Nitro Bar. We came on a Thursday afternoon and it was pretty busy, but it didn't take long to order or find a spot for the two of us. There's one table for four, a number of two seaters, and a few spots at the bar. I ordered the seasonal blueberry matcha, which was made with real blueberries and freshly whisked matcha. The flavors of the blueberry and matcha complimented each other well. I would definitely come back when I'm in the area!
People who say this place is overrated may have different tastes and that's okay! I visited Newport a few weeks ago and the line was long, I waited maybe 30 minutes give or take, but the coffee did not disappoint!! The line moves fairly quickly, there are a few tables inside to sit at and enjoy there or you can take it to go. We tried three different coffees and each one was delicious. I highly recommend the tangerine latte float!! I was skeptical at first but it was one of the best coffees I've ever had! Expect a wait, especially in the summer months, but I would go back!
i have really high expectations for coffee & nitro bar totally hit the mark. nitro bar had such a nice balance of coffee with the raspberry and chocolate flavors without either being overpowering. the nitro bar cold foam tasted like real cream and was better than any cold foam i've had before. there was a really long line but it moved pretty fast. it took about 20 minutes on a sunday afternoon and thankfully most of the line was in the shade. the service was honestly incredible. the baristas and cashier were all really nice and happy to answer questions. everyone had such a positive attitude. it can be a little difficult to find a seat. i was lucky and one opened up just as i got my drink. there are around 20 seats inside. the space has such a chic, simple atmosphere. i decided to try the veggie bagel with spicy sun-dried tomato cream cheese on an everything bagel. it came with radishes, cucumbers, and sprouts. this was really delicious. the crunchy toasted bagel, flavorful cream cheese, and fresh vegetables were a wonderful combination. i also love that they offer it as either a half or a full sandwich. there were also a lot of baked goods, overnight oats, and chia seed puddings that all looked great. they are definitely on my list to try next time. i would totally recommend checking out nitro bar.
Super popular spot for delicious espresso based drinks. We stopped in mid afternoon and didn't have to wait in line. Ordered a small whipped maple sea salt latte to split with my husband and it was the perfect afternoon sweet treat, the whip is delicious although as expected, very sweet. They have other tasty sounding options to satisfy a variety of sweet cravings. There's some seating in the shop which has really nice lighting. read more

honestly pretty average for how much this place gets hyped up. the line was insanely long in providence, so we went to the newport location, where the line was long, but moved relatively fast, around 15 minutes wait. it was pretty busy, but the service was fast and we were able to get food relatively quickly. pesto and tomato bagel: really good! the bagel was crispy and the pesto was really garlicky in a good way! one qualm is that the menu said it would be an heirloom tomato, which it was not. it was just a bunch of scattered cherry tomatoes cut in half lol black raspberry chip latte: pretty good in terms of accuracy of flavor. can taste both the raspberry and the chocolate, and felt like a black forest cake in terms of taste. the coffee flavor gets completely overshadowed, and the entire drink after a few sips ends up just tasting like a chocolatey cough syrup. maple blondie: pretty good, tastes like a cinnamony coffee cake. a bit overly sweet, can't finish a whole thing on your own. read more

Very cute, aesthetic coffee and matcha spot in Newport, RI! Lines are long and drink quality is average but there are not a ton of cafes like this out in RI. My friends and I were visiting so we gave it a try and thought it was okay. We liked the banana and blueberry flavors. read more
The line was 20-30 minutes (at around 10 am) and out the door which was annoying but expected because of how busy it was. It was also really full inside the building (most of the tables were full when we got in there) and it was pretty cramped and loud, but the staff were pretty nice. For a carrot cake, salted chocolate chip cookie, 2 whipped black raspberry chocolate chip lattes, and a caramelized banana latte it was around $37, which I thought was a pretty good price for how big the drinks and pastries were. The drinks were really good and the pastries were as well, I would definitely go again but maybe at a different time. read more

Ventured to Newport with my gal pals to try this popular coffee spot, and was not disappointed. We waited in a long line formed outside in front of the store, however the line went quick and staff came outside and handed out a menu for one to look at before coming inside. Once at the counter, ordering was a breeze and staff were so friendly. Coffee and food came out quick, there's not much seating inside but we were able to grab a small table! When food and drinks were ready staff called out your name. EVERYTHING and I repeat EVERYTHING was soo good! That pizza bagel is chefs kiss. The hot honey, the meatball, the crispy bagel. I would come back for it all instantly! No wonder why this place is the go to spot! read more
So, I heard through the grapevine that the Nitro Bar was one of the best spots to pick up a matcha + coffee from & I'm here to tell you that I had a pretty good experience! We came here after a great lunch nearby and ordered a *large caramelized banana matcha & a *large black raspberry matcha. Both were very tasty! I loved that though both flavors from the banana and raspberry were rather strong, neither were overpowering and you could still taste the matcha! They also whisk the matcha individually for each order of the drink, love that. Overall, I'd say it's worth the price & the trip to check them out! They have 3 locations total including this one on Thames St., another one in Newport RI on Pond Ave., & one in Providence! Looks like they have an ordering system online for all their locations too, which is great if you want to just skip the in person ordering process & just pick up when it's ready. read more
The nitro bar is amazing!! Although there was a wait to get inside, it moved pretty quickly and was worth it. The inside was super cute with some seating areas. As a banana lover, the caramelized banana matcha was perfection. You could taste that the syrup was made with real bananas. Additionally; the staff were fantastic. The barista accidentally made my drink as a coffee, but kindly remade the matcha for me and let me keep the coffee. Great spot, wish we had this is Arizona! read more
Incredible! LOVE it here! I tried a couple of coffee places in Newport and this was my all time favorite. The line supports this! I got there right after they opened on a Friday morning. It was busy! 1/2 mile from my hotel. Some people drove but Newport is a walking city. I ordered the lavender latte with espresso and almond milk. Love that you can select nitro, espresso, or none plus the type of milk. The baked goods were beautiful! The chantilly cake with berries and flowers was gorgeous. The carrot cake looked delicious. Carrot cake is one of my favorite desserts. Hard to say no, but I left with drinks only. I was picking up drinks for my coworkers too. That's the real reason I didn't get some sweet treats. will be coming back next time I'm in Newport. The staff there is so kind! The vibe is great. So chill. Love love love it! read more

This was my first time at Nitro Bar. It was great location on Lower Thames. It is popular so sometimes there is a line out the door. There was a line when we went but it went by quick so I did not mind. When we got inside, we were able to look at the paper menu to know what we wanted before we got to register to order. I got the Caramelized Banana Latte and my son got the Cookie Butter Latte with whipped on top. After we ordered you move to another line to receive drinks. They do have food but kitchen closes at 3pm and we were there after that time. The place is cute. The wall to the left is filled with tables and chairs. We were lucky one became available and we sat at table until drinks ready. We drank at the shop which both drinks were delicious. I enjoyed this place. Afterwards we did some shopping at the cute shops nearby. It was a great visit. read more
Place deserves all the hype it gets. Came by on a Sunday afternoon, staff super friendly and kind, able to provide suggestions for us. The coffee was great, my girlfriend absolutely loved it along with the whip! The brownie was delicious, big decadent of maple. Place was clean and inviting, definitely a cool spot to be in Newport! Loved the lightning and decor felt like a classy coffee spot. A must go to spot for your coffee needs! read more

The Nitro Bar is an absolute 10/10 and worth all the insane Tik Tok hype it receives. This location (though small and often crowded much like some of their other spots), is definitely worth a visit whether you've travelled from afar to the beautiful coast of Newport or if you just happen to find yourself in the area. Their pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and of course their delicious coffees and matchas are perfect for a morning brunch or an afternoon pick me up and snack!! As I mentioned, their popularity and prime location often means they get busy, but the service has always been very fast and efficient without sacrificing quality. Their egg sandwiches are a must try and I personally love pairing it with one of their seasonal matchas which they flavor with their delicious house-made syrups!! I will say, they're drinks are pretty sweet and sometimes hides the flavor of the matcha itself. Additionally, the price is pretty steep, but I'd still say this spot is worth the splurge every once in a while and perfect for if you don't want a super strong drink or just something more unique and decadent. Overall, with the modern, clean, and upbeat vibes, this Rhode Island chain is one you absolutely cannot miss! read more

The coffee was good, but nothing out of the ordinary for me. I got a summer seasonal coffee, but it was more like a dessert; it was way too sweet. We got our drinks super fast considering the amount of people in the shop. There was no where to sit so we had to take them to go. read more

Popped in on a Sunday stroll. As usual on the weekend, there was a line to get in but it did move pretty quick and one of the staff member was periodically coming out to hand out menus to people in line to make ordering go faster. The staff taking our order was very nice! We got maple sea salt lattes with whip, a chocolate chip cookie and carrot cake. It all was awesome. The special drinks at Nitro never miss and the maple sea salt lattes are no different. Also, add their whip to any of your drinks, we loved it! Cookie was fire and the carrot cake slice was to die for. Space inside isn't huge but they have 5-6 tables, we were able to get a seat and hang for a bit. I think it's worth the hype! read more

We saw this place online and were really excited to try it out, but we were left wishing for more. The coffee was $10 and felt like primarily ice. The breakfast sandwich was good, but both pastries we got were dry. I'd rather get coffee elsewhere. read more

This place is definitely worth the hype. We visited in the off-season during a week's stay, so there was no crazy long line. I maybe had the classic pizza bagel (on a plain bagel- you can choose) everyday for breakfast... it was so delicious, and wayyy more flavorful than the pizza bites you're thinking of. Their maple sea salt cold foam is AMAZING. It's super thick and feels like dessert. But my fav was the drink they are known for... the Carmalized Banana Latte. I was fully prepared to not like it. But NOPE! Had it everyday. Iced. Make sure you give it a good stir before trying! There isn't a ton of seating inside, only a few tables and a couple bar seats. Staff super friendly! read more
