i have really high expectations for coffee & nitro bar totally hit the mark. nitro bar had such a nice balance of coffee with the raspberry and chocolate flavors without either being overpowering. the nitro bar cold foam tasted like real cream and was better than any cold foam i've had before. there was a really long line but it moved pretty fast. it took about 20 minutes on a sunday afternoon and thankfully most of the line was in the shade. the service was honestly incredible. the baristas and cashier were all really nice and happy to answer questions. everyone had such a positive attitude. it can be a little difficult to find a seat. i was lucky and one opened up just as i got my drink. there are around 20 seats inside. the space has such a chic, simple atmosphere. i decided to try the veggie bagel with spicy sun-dried tomato cream cheese on an everything bagel. it came with radishes, cucumbers, and sprouts. this was really delicious. the crunchy toasted bagel, flavorful cream cheese, and fresh vegetables were a wonderful combination. i also love that they offer it as either a half or a full sandwich. there were also a lot of baked goods, overnight oats, and chia seed puddings that all looked great. they are definitely on my list to try next time. i would totally recommend checking out nitro bar. read more

Who doesn't need a coffee break after browsing the shops on Thames Street? My friends and I sure do, and on a recent Saturday, we were lucky enough to hit the Nitro Bar when there wasn't a line snaking out the door and down the block! We had super-friendly and super-efficient service ordering an espresso tonic, chocolate malt float and blood orange hibiscus tea (such a delectable purple-red color!) All three beverages were sipped to the very last drop! Special thanks for also stocking the fridge with bottles of Diet Coke. Not enough cafes/coffee bars offer this soda option and sometimes, a gal has to have her Diet Coke! The Nitro Bar is a cheerful place to sit and since we were fortunate enough to find seating, we decided to share a grilled Asiago bagel and ricotta toast with heirloom tomatoes. honestly pretty average for how much this place gets hyped up. the line was insanely long in providence, so we went to the newport location, where the line was long, but moved relatively fast, around 15 minutes wait. it was pretty busy, but the service was fast and we were able to get food relatively quickly. pesto and tomato bagel: really good! the bagel was crispy and the pesto was really garlicky in a good way! one qualm is that the menu said it would be an heirloom tomato, which it was not. it was just a bunch of scattered cherry tomatoes cut in half lol black raspberry chip latte: pretty good in terms of accuracy of flavor. can taste both the raspberry and the chocolate, and felt like a black forest cake in terms of taste. the coffee flavor gets completely overshadowed, and the entire drink after a few sips ends up just tasting like a chocolatey cough syrup. maple blondie: pretty good, tastes like a cinnamony coffee cake. a bit overly sweet, can't finish a whole thing on your own. read more

The line was 20-30 minutes (at around 10 am) and out the door which was annoying but expected because of how busy it was. It was also really full inside the building (most of the tables were full when we got in there) and it was pretty cramped and loud, but the staff were pretty nice. For a carrot cake, salted chocolate chip cookie, 2 whipped black raspberry chocolate chip lattes, and a caramelized banana latte it was around $37, which I thought was a pretty good price for how big the drinks and pastries were. People who say this place is overrated may have different tastes and that's okay! I visited Newport a few weeks ago and the line was long, I waited maybe 30 minutes give or take, but the coffee did not disappoint!! The line moves fairly quickly, there are a few tables inside to sit at and enjoy there or you can take it to go. We tried three different coffees and each one was delicious. I highly recommend the tangerine latte float!! I was skeptical at first but it was one of the best coffees I've ever had! This was my first time at Nitro Bar. It was great location on Lower Thames. It is popular so sometimes there is a line out the door. There was a line when we went but it went by quick so I did not mind. When we got inside, we were able to look at the paper menu to know what we wanted before we got to register to order. I got the Caramelized Banana Latte and my son got the Cookie Butter Latte with whipped on top. After we ordered you move to another line to receive drinks. They do have food but kitchen closes at 3pm and we were there after that time. The place is cute. The wall to the left is filled with tables and chairs. We were lucky one became available and we sat at table until drinks ready. We drank at the shop which both drinks were delicious. I enjoyed this place. So, I heard through the grapevine that the Nitro Bar was one of the best spots to pick up a matcha + coffee from & I'm here to tell you that I had a pretty good experience! We came here after a great lunch nearby and ordered a *large caramelized banana matcha & a *large black raspberry matcha. Both were very tasty! I loved that though both flavors from the banana and raspberry were rather strong, neither were overpowering and you could still taste the matcha! They also whisk the matcha individually for each order of the drink, love that. Overall, I'd say it's worth the price & the trip to check them out! They have 3 locations total including this one on Thames St., another one in Newport RI on Pond Ave., & one in Providence! Incredible! LOVE it here! I tried a couple of coffee places in Newport and this was my all time favorite. The line supports this! I got there right after they opened on a Friday morning. It was busy! 1/2 mile from my hotel. Some people drove but Newport is a walking city. I ordered the lavender latte with espresso and almond milk. Love that you can select nitro, espresso, or none plus the type of milk. The baked goods were beautiful! The chantilly cake with berries and flowers was gorgeous. The carrot cake looked delicious. Carrot cake is one of my favorite desserts. Hard to say no, but I left with drinks only. I was picking up drinks for my coworkers too. The Nitro Bar is an absolute 10/10 and worth all the insane Tik Tok hype it receives. This location (though small and often crowded much like some of their other spots), is definitely worth a visit whether you've travelled from afar to the beautiful coast of Newport or if you just happen to find yourself in the area. Their pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and of course their delicious coffees and matchas are perfect for a morning brunch or an afternoon pick me up and snack!! As I mentioned, their popularity and prime location often means they get busy, but the service has always been very fast and efficient without sacrificing quality. Their egg sandwiches are a must try and I personally love pairing it with one of their seasonal matchas which they flavor with their delicious house-made syrups!! I will say, they're drinks are pretty sweet and sometimes hides the flavor of the matcha itself. Additionally, the price is pretty steep, but I'd still say this spot is worth the splurge every once in a while and perfect for if you don't want a super strong drink or just something more unique and decadent. Popped in on a Sunday stroll. As usual on the weekend, there was a line to get in but it did move pretty quick and one of the staff member was periodically coming out to hand out menus to people in line to make ordering go faster. The staff taking our order was very nice! We got maple sea salt lattes with whip, a chocolate chip cookie and carrot cake. It all was awesome. The special drinks at Nitro never miss and the maple sea salt lattes are no different. Also, add their whip to any of your drinks, we loved it! It Hurt So Good: The day hath finally come! I could finally try The Nitro Bar. My husband and I previously saw the line prior to entry, and both realized that while we waited for our lunch reservations we could finagle and get our coffees. The trepidation was tremendous. I couldn't wait to finally try these seasonal beverages; all the hype on social media, I knew that it was gonna be worth it. When we finally got to the register, something overcame me. I couldn't just try one drink and my husband wasn't getting anything that I really wanted to try so I made some excuses about allowing my family members to try whatever I get and I ended up choosing the Cookie Whip latte, the Caramelized Banana Matcha latte, and the Red Velvet latte(original choice would have been the toasted coconut latte, but they ran out of the syrup because it was just too good.) In the refrigerator off to the side we noticed that they had chai puddings, banana pudding and overnight oats; so we thought to ourselves what the heck, let's grab a chocolate cherry chai pudding and a banana pudding. Both were good but the banana was something special. Then we heard my name called and we were able to sample the goods. That first sip of the Banana matcha latte, holy shit, my taste buds were elated. I nearly downed half it before realizing I had my other lattes to try. The Cookie Whip.....the hype is real my friend, it's crack. The sweetness yet not overpowering the coffee. The whip....by the time we rejoined my family while still waiting for lunch, the cookie whip had disappeared. I gave my mother the Red Velvet Whip. She tried it...then she tried the matcha and preferred that. I gave her the rest and tried the Red Velvet myself. It was good, the whip had a nice balance of cream cheese however the clear winners were the matcha and cookie whip (I should have known as I rarely go for the actual cupcake, that's on me). Yet I stilled sucked on that shit til that sound occurred again, air slipping through the straw indicating the last remnants. Mind you I'm a tea girlie....I rarely have coffee and I just downed two lattes and half a matcha. I knew my immediate future would be impacted....the reservation at Wally's Weiner's finally was called and I immediately sat down in a daze. I took a deep breath and knew I needed water. As someone who struggles with vasovagel syncope reactions (google it, it's a ride let me tell ya) I knew I couldn't let it get that far. Let's just say I hydrated and used every bathroom I encountered while in Newport. Wrecked my opportunity to enjoy my mother's birthday dinner at White Horse Tavern and prayed to the gods that I didn't go to panic town. So would I go back? Hell ya. Would I recommend all those drinks? Hell ya. However what I will remind my myself is to pace yourself baby. No need to go ham. I can come back. I maybe had the classic pizza bagel (on a plain bagel- you can choose) everyday for breakfast... it was so delicious, and wayyy more flavorful than the pizza bites you're thinking of. So good we went twice in one day during our weekend trip to Newport. The coffee was absolutely delicious, my husband said it was the best nitro cold brew he's ever had and I have to agree. Highly recommend getting the Cacio y Pepe cream cheese on a bagel here! It was super flavorful and the bagel was toasted perfectly. The sesame bagel here had lots of sesame on it which I am not used to but enjoyed. I also ordered a cherry vanilla matcha which was decent, but I probably would not order again as I prefer the coffee drinks from The Nitro Bar. Tasted better as I drank more. The texture was a bit gritty to me but it was a nice color. I did like the cherry vanilla syrup! My friend ordered espresso with a splash of milk and maple sea salt syrup.
