Keizer Miracle of Christmas

Keizer Miracle of Christmas

The Keizer Miracle of Christmas is a family tradition of mine…read more This is such a wonderful place to enjoy Christmas lights and support the community. Food and cash donations are made at the start of the 3/12 mile of lights. All the food and money goes to the Marion Polk Food Share. The lights are 6pm to 10pm daily. Once you start friendly Snow-Cop barricades indicating the direction of the route. This event is held every year by the Keizer Police and the Gusbser neighborhood association. Every house is diffencet they the next, they change them up every year. Some houses stick with the same thing but it doesn't make it any less special. Special Note: Crazy busy on Fridays, Christmas Eve, and Christmas. Stick to the weekdays if you don't want to spend a few hours driving around.

The Miracle on 14th Street (how I grew up knowing this Keizer light display) is no more. What…read moreremains is a nice tour of some lights, but nothing truly spectacular. And, when you factor in that it's going to take you at least 90 minutes to feel somewhat..meh about a light tour, I suggest finding another option--especially if you're not in or from Sal/Keiz. See, back in the day what made this place a truly magical visit was twofold: on the one hand, you had amazing participation rates; on the other, you had themes that drew cul-de-sacs and lanes together. I would say participation last night (12/21/13) was about 50% of houses, and that's being generous. Also, all of the street themes are gone. When I was a kid, there was Christmas-Card Lane, and the 12 Days of Christmas cul-de-sac, and Stocking Street, and Peanuts Place, and ... the list goes on. Now, it's up to each participating neighbor to choose a theme (or not). What remains are some nicely decorated homes, about five - six per block, a visit from Santa with free canes (for your donation, non-perishable food or cash), and approximately five homes, one street, and one court that really stand out with some memorable decorations. I'm on the fence about whether the display is truly a-ok or not, but given that I plan to try it again sometime, I'll let the three stars do the talking.

Sweetbrier Train & RV Park - The family's that runs this place is just as awesome as this beautiful location for all events!

Amazing camping location. The owners Keri and Dustin have created a magical throwback to the times…read morewhen whole groups of family members would camp out together, cook and eat together, sit around and talk "story", do activities together, watch movies in the park, listen to others jam on their musical instruments on a real stage, play human foosball, play miniature golf, and of course a real train with a half mile track. What an amazing find! We spent the Eclipse time with them. They made that time extra special. They did not overbook, allowed the camper RVs a lot of space, had coffee and churros in the morning, dinners every night, so reasonable in prices and they didn't up their prices for the eclipse gouging going on. And I gotta give some love to V- Elvis (Brett Butler) who entertained us two nights. Stash winery was also there and Lee Courier sang hound dog with Elvis. Dustin has a lot of cool kitchen gadgets like a huge corn roaster. We ate a lot of roasted cord with butter and season salt. There's a churro maker and the Train Wreck with churros, whipped cream and caramel OMG. A large kettle for kettle corn every night and a shaved ice maker. Wow! Keri is the friendliest most imaginative event creator. Weddings, family reunions and any and all campers would be super happy coming to visit!

Came here for eclipse weekend and had an awesome time - definitely exceeded expectations and was…read moreunlike any other campground experience we've ever had. It's a family-run operation and the owners were really friendly & responsive. Prices were very reasonable, and unlike other campgrounds, you get more than just a spot to park your camper. The highlight was, of course, a small train that has a route through the woods. We rode on that thing a TON - our kids LOVED it. We also played tetherball, mini golf, watched movies in the evening, listened to live music, played in play houses for the kids, and had lots of concession food. There didn't seem to be a ton to do in the vicinity (near a small town), but the campground had lots happening so we hardly felt a need to even leave! We'll be back.

He's been…read moreasking to go to a haunted house this year so I searched "family friendly haunted houses" and this came up. We decided to give it a try and we're very glad we did. It was a long drive on curvy country roads to get there and it was rainy and extremely foggy, but it made it part of the "spooky" fun! We got here and we were greeted with friendly people and even a sucker for our son. It was only $20 for the 3 of us to get in which is very reasonable and a cheap night compared to any local events and activities we usually go to. The trail was pretty long and we were told to go through as many times as we wished. There were tons of little houses to walk through, a maze, a suspension bridge, a concrete tunnel, a crooked house, and many slides. We thoroughly enjoyed the trail, rain and all! It was well lit with Halloween lights all throughout, so it was pretty neat to walk the trails and see hidden spooky figures in the dark. The castle is so cool! It's a mini haunted house with strobe lights, animatronics, curtains to walk through, etc. Our 6 year old was scared by it a bit and got really brave to go in a second time (which made us SO relieved we didn't go to a legitimate haunted house) so it was perfect and not too scary. They've got hot cocoa, hot cider, cold cider, and donuts for sale (very cheap) too so we took advantage of that while we walked the trail. We can't wait to go here and see it all during Christmas time!

Those were just a few of the buildings this place reminds me of Enchanted Forest it's like a mini version without the thrill rides. The Trail is well maintained and the attractions are cute. We went through the haunted house before heading down the trail. The trail was a child's dream come true with slides and mazes galore. Pumpkins are $2,$4,$6 depending on size. They have snacks available for purchase at a reasonable price. If you have children under $12 you'll love this place not much for older kids, but definitely worth the $6 admission price.
