My daughter has taken a few lessons so far with Next Street in Monroe CT and they have been great. Recently I booked an appointment at the Shelton location and her female instructor was a nightmare. My daughter came back so stressed out. She said she raised her voice at me so many times. She kept saying things like i Would have failed you right there for that. Very negative. Very judgemental. This is actually the first review i have ever left on Yelp that's how I annoyed I was at this situation. I drive with my daughter quite a bit and she does very well. I am pretty relaxed with her. The last thing a young inexperienced driver needs is a strange adult shouting while they try to learn to drive. So Lindsey- Do better or maybe don't do this at all. read more

The best I can state about this school is they are consistent.. consistently awful as they managed to botch both of my kids' testing experiences. My current gripe is managment's decision to cancel a driving test 4p the day before Winter Storm Viola was forecast to effect northern Fairfield County. In the context regular schools had not yet announced either a school cancelation or delayed opening this early, I thought the driving school's decision to cancel tests for mid morning the next day to be premature. Calling around to other local area driving schools the morning my child was supposed to be tested at 10a, I learned no other school had canceled lessons or testing for the morning the snow was forecast to begin. Additionally, I learned it is the DMV that determines if conditions are unsafe for testing, which they evidently concluded was not the case for morning the storm is due. When lockdown began nearly 1 full year ago, all unessential businesses were shuttered for 2-3 months, it made the scheduling disruptions a little "easier" to accept, especially for a teen. However, prematurely canceling a full day of testing in mid Feb and pushing all those young drivers back into the pool of those waiting to take the test, and in contradiction to the DMV saying it is safe for testing the morning of the storm, obviously favors managment and its employees over those who are paying the school to be taught and tested. Sharing this experience with a friend of mine, I was not surprised to learn they too had an awful experience having their child learn to drive with The Next Street, which again confirms my initial comments the school is consistently unreliable. I am relieved I will not have to deal with the people at this school again and I will be sure to recommend other establishments to my friends when seeking a driving school... read more

Knowledgeable, friendly and responsive. My daughter liked that her instructor for both the classes and the driving instruction provided valuable feedback and shared relevant personal experiences to make the material more relatable. Any questions were answered within 24 hours. Having the option to take the driver's test through The Next Street versus the DMV made everything much less stressful and went smoothly from beginning to end. Highly recommend. read more

I took 8 hour driving test and added 4 more hours. I would definitely recommend them. Their instructors are very good and nice. I now stick with my instructor Mitch Bolinsky. I really learned a lot from him. He has so much patience and ready to answer all my doubts about driving. He talks slowly for new drivers like me so i will get everything he says. When i first saw him, i was nervous but he will make you feel comfortable. It even felt like i was driving with my buddy and not an instructor later on. read more

Great Experience. The level of instruction was superb!! They made sure my son was prepared and comfortable by bringing him on the actual road test course during lessons. I highly recommend the Monroe Branch, especially if you have a child with special needs who is apprehensive about driving. We chose the 8 hour classroom / 8 hours of driving and the road test was also in Monroe with the Nest Street vehicle. The associates were very helpful with getting us started and signed up for driving classes and the website was very easy to navigate and make changes. read more

No one should ever have to sit through 30 hrs of driving classes... but the next street makes it bearable. I personally had Mr. John Leslie, who I think must be the best teacher and driving instructor. Not only did I learn with Mr. Leslie but I had fun. He some how made 2 hrs of sitting in a classroom educational and fun. I would recommend this class to a friend. read more

I have attended this driving school and I really think that it wasn't worth the money I just attending classes to get my license sooner. But It still took just as long classes were mainly about common sense driving and the videos are very outdated. read more

So far, not impressed at all. Let's start with the fact that there aren't that many other options out there. With the summer drawing to a close I wanted my son to take the 30 hr course in a concentrated amount of time so The Next Street was the only school i could find that fit our schedule. It's expensive but I paid and signed up for lessons, the course and the drivers test. . I thought the drivers test would be auto scheduled along with the lessons. The lessons were auto scheduled but i had to change those because the dates they gave me didn't work so I thought it was safe to assume the drivers test would be scheduled by them and not by me. When i finally realized i had to do it, we are looking at a 90 day wait for the next available appointment. On the first day of class when parents need to attend, it would have been nice for the instructor to lay out all of these details. This is my first child getting a drivers license and it would have been nice for someone to lay out the end to end process for us, especially considering the $700+ i just spent. But, instead, we had an instructor who should have never been teaching in a classroom setting. It was a painful 2 hrs. and I'm assuming that several parents complained because the remainder of the class is being taught by someone else. So, kudos to Next Street for making the change but we missed so much knowledge transfer in that first class and now have no way to make that up. I would say, do your research well in advance of needing the class you have time to pick the school that really best fits your needs and approaching the process according to your expectations. read more
