Both my sons used The Next Street and had great experiences. Easy to schedule (and re-schedule) classes. The few times I had to speak to someone live, they were so kind and helpful. The testing host we had today, Al Cirigliano, was amazing. There were a bunch of people waiting to do their tests and he was patient and kind with everyone. SO, I'm an adult who had to take the safety course to get a CT license b/c I was overseas a long time. I've been driving 30 years in three countries on both sides of the road. So you can guess how psyched I was about this. Positives: they were flexible about scheduling, was easy to reschedule and they always made sure I had all the requirements covered. I think the price is good at $99 and I got good value for that. The actual classes were interesting. The Instructors were great - easy to listen to and gave useful info that even someone who's been driving for 30 years should be reminded of. I feel confident going into the test later this week. Negatives: once you're finished you're probably dying to go take the test and have your license right? Maybe you have even planned it out and scheduled a test date? But then they tell you in the last class it'll be TEN days or so before the completion certificate (which you MUST present at test time) comes via regular mail. In my case it took 15 Days. Huh? Given how good the website is and how good their class tracker system is (when I called for help the guy had all the info right in front of him and easily flipped my schedule around to get me into the right makeup sessions) they ought to be able to do better than this. Once the certificate arrives it's a handwritten document on triplicate paper (I think?) and arrives with a letter inside that tells you to check your personal info carefully to be sure it's accurate (the DMV cares about this! The letter tells you in an unnecessarily cheerful tone. So you can imagine how I felt when I noticed the person who filled mine out got my birthday wrong. *sigh*. Again I don't get why this isn't automated. An issue with interfacing with DMV systems maybe? Though my kids school pulls up my state ID info when they print my visitors badge so the DMV interface seems like it could be very good ... like Nextstreet could even be printing this certificate with my learner's permit photo and the address on file with the DMV. So it was kind of a letdown finish - took more than two weeks and arrived wrong which they know is a major DMV issue. On the upside when I called for help I talked to Beth who was fantastic about coming up with a solution to get me a new one ASAP - I've got my test in 3 days and never would have guessed it would be risky to book it 2.5 weeks after I finished. So, thank you Beth, you saved the day! Here's hoping Nextstreet is looking for ways to streamline this last bit of delivery to customers - everything else is great. read more

Had a great experience with The Next Street. I had two previous kids who took their training with another company in New Canaan and this organization was definitely superior! The instructors were engaging and informative and the structure of their program (condensed class offering over the Summer and two-hour driving blocks) made it much easier and more efficient to get through the program in a timely manner. Lastly, the price was about $150 less than other local programs and it included the driving test at their location! I would definitely recommend The Next STreet to anyone. read more

I found the class really helpful. At my age and with my driving experience I went in thinking it was going to be a waste of time. I genuinely believe the opposite. The main instructor was awesome, her enthusiasm, style and knowledge was great. I also felt motivated to incorporate the information in my driving, and that is good when you reach 40 years of driving, and feel motivated to make some changes . I couldn't have asked for a better experience to prepare my twins for their driving education. They both did the total package of 30 instructional hours in the classroom and the 8 hours driving instruction. They also tested through the school instead of going to the DMV. Tausif Chuyk was an absolutely outstanding teacher, in the classroom and behind the wheel. She is so relatable to the students and makes the class super interesting. As the parent, you are required to be in the first class, and I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed it. For my kids to go to class for two hours every Tuesday and Thursday night in the summer after working all day and looking so forward to Driving School made all of the difference. Maya had 4 different road driving instructors and Bryan had Tausif for all of his driving lessons (that depends on the schedules of your kids and teacher availability). Each one was terrific, but Tausif went above and beyond. She instilled the confidence in them and removed the anxiety behind the wheel. I also want to compliment Bob, the proctor the day of the driving test as he puts the students at such ease with his sense of humor and compassion for the anxiety. For such an arduous process for parent and child, this experience was an A plus! read more
