Both times it had a perfect mix of salty olives, creamy feta, and sweet tomatoes. I'd keep going back even if it wasn't fueling such a great cause. Final thought: Skip the super long lunch lines at chain restaraunts and pull up a patio chair in front of Café 180. The food is great and the people watching is an added bonus.

Take-out places throughout downtown are dominated by chain restaurants; few if any meeting that criteria. I am so happy that I found this place. Walking around, I tended to be cautious and skeptical of food cart offerings and as this place is the in the middle of the pedestrian mall I passed it several times before stopping. It is fixed kiosk with all the amenities of a small restaurant. The food is extremely fresh and tasty, the service is very friendly and you can get an awesome meal for less than $5 bucks! I now go there frequently. My staples are the Chicken Caesar Wrap and the Turkey Spinach Wrap. I have also had the Mediterranean Pita and the Apple Walnut Salad. All have exceeded expectations. The kiosk also offers a rotating soup of the day (if you're lucky to hit a Jambalaya day; it's the best), Caesar Salad and a few other things that I can't remember just now. All of these items are $4 or less (soup is only $2) and they usually throw in a small cookie. All around, for take-out lunch this is a near perfect option. While I usually have to run back to the office, there are patio chairs right there in the middle of the mall and it's a sunny spot even in the colder months. Finally, the kiosk supports the main restaurant in Englewood which is a non-profit where anyone can eat regardless of ability to pay. (Pay what you can, or if you can't pay, volunteer for an hour or two.) I have not been to the restaurant, but it's great knowing that my lunch supports such a great cause, as well.

So rich I felt a little sick after, but in a good way. I like to come here during the Civic Center Eats on Thursday, and frankly it's probably a good thing I don't live so close because I'd be going to the Bumblebee every day and I'd weigh about 100 pounds more than I do. Their little truck is adorable, the woman who works (maybe the owner, not sure) in it when it's at Civic Center Eats is totally friendly, and the desserts are perfect, if you like some serious f*cking sweets. I recommend them to everyone I know who has as much of a sweet tooth as I do.

Both were very good and very rich, so rich that although the serving sizes were small, we didn't finish the treats the night we bought them. Fortunately, the treats were just as tasty two days later. The night that we stopped by, The Bumblebee was donating a portion of its profits to the Impact Fund, which made for an added treat. The desserts are a little pricey for their size, but given their high quality, they're worth it.

Instead of a lemonade stand, my friends and I had a sidewalk food stand, where we sold pizza and hot pretzels to our neighbors. And now I work in downtown Denver, and I could go to a food cart everyday if I wanted to. So I've walked by Empanadas Argentina's blue umbrella a number of times, always on my way to someplace else and always thinking to myself "I've got to try that cart!" So I did. Today. And it's delicious. They have 4 kinds of empanadas: Spicy Chicken, Beef, Ham & Cheese, and Spinach with White Sauce. He was out of Spicy Chicken (damn you guy that just bought them all from under me!) but was cooking more up in his cart's oven. So I opted for the 3 empanadas for $5, and got 1 of each of the remaining choices. You have to get at least 3. I could probably have eaten 3 more. They aren't that big. The beef was by far the best. Flavorful, kinda cheesy with an outstanding buttery yet flaky crust. My second favorite was the Spinach. I was expecting more of an alfredo sauce for the white sauce, but it wasn't nearly as rich. Just enough sauce to give the spinach creaminess, yet little enough to not overwhelm the spinach. Same flaky crust. Finally, the Ham & Cheese. Also good, but it just seemed like a better quality/tasting hot pocket to me. Of course, it had that signature flaky crust. So if you're walking down 16th st. and have a hankering for a quick bite, grab some empanadas from Empanadas Argentina. You won't be sorry.

This was (INDEED) a nice discovery…read more I gathered with friends at City Park Jazz tonight (July 23, 2023) and Taste of Soweto caught my attention so I gave it a shot. By the way, its name is an English syllabic abbreviation for South Western Townships which I didn't know until today. This south African cuisine is something new to my palette. I've had Ethiopian and Somali dishes in the past when it comes to African food but I didn't know what to expect from Soweto. What I got me was a curry/stew that is so thick and stout; I've never had a curry/stew this thick before so it shocked me in a very surprising way. When I got my food, I thought it didn't quite like the picture on the menu but once I took a bite of it, it simply didn't matter anymore. It's got a lot of spices in it but was mild to a point where it didn't burn my mouth so it's not spicy hot in any way. And the volume of it is simply astounding. When I picked it off the window of the truck, it was quite the weight. For $16, you'll definitely get the value you pay for. People inside the truck were pleasant so you'll have no issues with service either. A few minutes before my food was up, the guy came out and covered #3 on the menu. Got lucky to get the last one for the night. Must be the most popular item on the menu!!

If this is representative, it should be. While others were ordering, I checked out the menu board. While there was only a handful of options, choosing one was not easy. The curries in a bread bowl looked good, but basmati rice sounded better to host the saucy protein. Kalahari sausage sounds interesting, and they offer wings with either peri-peri or Kalahari sauce. A friendly greeting led to my ordering the beef Kota bowl. I sat down to wait--but not for long. Most food trucks seem to take longer than expected. These guys had my food ready and well-packaged in no time! The curry sauce offered a unique flavor more akin to that at Urban Burma than a Thai or Indian joint--excellent. Sizable chunks of tender beef screamed quality ingredients. This was addictive stuff and it disappeared in minutes. I say 4.5 stars for quality ingredients, and fast, friendly service, rounded up to five stars for uniqueness in this area.

I've been to the farmer's market at the Denver Federal Center for 3 straight years and never have I had so many lunches from a single vendor! lol. Their lobster rolls are to die for: I've checked with a coupld of friends who are from the east coast, and they said the lobster rolls from this food truck are as close to the real thing as Colorado can get! All the offerings from East Coast Joe's are a bit on the pricey side, but are definitely compensated by quality, here's a list of items I've tried in the order of most favorite: - Lobster Roll: very refreshing, every bit is full of lobster meat. The bun is very buttery and the right amount of crunch. I so want to finish trying the different items on the menu just so I could come back and have more lobster rolls, lol - Pulled pork sandwich (I think they lovingly call it "Stick A Pork In It" or something like that, cute name): not as big as I expected, but the pulled pork is SO tender, and instead of being smothered by BBQ sauce, it is topped with a garlic aioli, rich and buttery; then plump bacon strips (no kidding, their bacon is really good); then arugula. Incredible flavor - Lobster BLT: because of the bacon, duh - Lobster grilled cheese: good quality melted cheese, but I much prefer just having it alone (and put the lobster meat in the lobster roll!) - Lobster sliders: mini and cute but you can't survive on just these alone, so might as well get the lobster roll - Shrimp roll: I guess I'm not a big fan of shrimp in sandwiches, especially if there's the option of having lobster in it! I was told they also make a good sausage sandwich, haven't had a chance to order that yet, and I sincerely wish they bring back the homemade chips. Great job Joe and the nice lady whose name I have yet to ask. Please come back to the DFC next year!

I was with a good beer drinking (and brewing) group and since I am not really a beer drinker I was sure hoping for good food. And I got it. I ordered a Sunny BLTA but without the cream cheese. It seemed like there was already plenty on the brioche roll and with the sunny side egg it was moist on its own. The lettuce was arugula, my favorite salad green, and there were several large slices of fresh tomato and avocado on the roll. The bacon (two huge pieces) was cooked just right for a sandwich, chewable and not hard. The grilled roll was nice and soft so you could keep the big pile of filling intact while holding it. I would get it again in a heartbeat. The staff was very friendly, happy to customize my sandwich though very busy. I appreciated that they delivered the food to our table without us having to wait around the truck. I hope to see this truck again at some other event I might get to in the future.

But aside from a folk acoustic song or two, we did not hear any bluegrass. There were drums, bass and tambourine a-plenty, but no pickin. Was I daft for not researching these final bands, instead simply assuming that they would be bluegrass? We were really bummed we missed the earlier music, which we can only assume was the when the "grass" half of the fest lived. However, the "brew" half of the festival was very alive and kickin when we arrived. Plenty of Coloradical dudes and dudettes a-stumblin. It was quite crowded but we were able to catch up quickly. Drink tickets were $5 each, the big brews--Fat Tire, Oskar Blues, Sierra Nevada--were serving some tallboys and others were filing cups full. I was happy to see Strange there and sample some of theirs, and lines weren't too bad. The food trucks became our saviors and the noodle guys seemed to be making a killing. I have missed the past few years of this festival but am now satisfied and probably won't stress myself out to return. I am interested to hear what others who actually caught some good music have to say.
