As parents, we knew it was time to find someone new when our daughter's anxiety and depression rapidly increased over the summer. Our daughter refused to go anywhere. But it had to be done. With a little research, we found board certified Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Shelley Byrd. Making an appointment was easy. Her office is located inside a Yeager building. You haven't experienced a stimulating environment until you've entered a Yeager building. Meeting Ms. Byrd was refreshing. First impressions meant everything to our daughter. She is young (anyone near 30 is young to us, lol). She is uniquely in touch with this generation and understands their stress. A huge plus for us. Our daughter definitely has a connection with her. Finding someone she could trust was so important. The dialogue between them is open, honest and upfront. And at each appointment, they set mutual goals together. And of course, educating me on her diagnosis and treatment plan is always part of the conversation. We've been under Ms. Byrd's care for over two months now and our daughter is on board and cooperating. Ms. Byrd's clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults with a broad spectrum of psychiatric disorders. I encourage you to call and ask about how she can help with your situation. I'd also like to mention her multitasking office manager Nurse Leslie. She is "Wonder Woman". She spends quality time checking you in and she helps with anything you need. She is a patient soul.

I worked with Counselor Amanda for about one year in community mental health care, first with her…read moreas my team lead and then as my clinical director. She trained me, so I got to see her work in different contexts. She has a calming, genuine (yet always professional) presence. Not only did she make clients feel comfortable and provide a healing environment for them, she always made her team, co-workers, and staff feel confident. Crisis management was something I didn't have much experience in when we first started working together, and she showed me how to be calm and collected even in an emergency. She is also one of the most ethical people I have ever worked with. Working with and under her helped make me a better clinician, and I am completely confident she helps clients reach similar results as their counselor.

At first I was super impressed with how they "matched" me with a therapist. We clicked right away…read morefor the first three, almost four, sessions. At the end of our fourth session, I was told to stop "trauma dumping". Which I understand can be counterproductive to healing but in my case, if my therapist actually listened to out almost four sessions, my wounds never healed, I haven't had the best relationships with therapist due to having a narcissist mother who controlled past therapy visits, and other issues, he'd know that I have held in all of my trauma and needed to get it out. But no!!!, I needed to pay attention to the chart about feelings, actions, and such and listen to him and HIS FEELINGS, even after using said chart in three different ways to express how I felt unheard, disrespected, and hurt by his words/actions. He continued on and asked me to hear HIM out. I know what I said in response wasn't the best but here goes... in response to him asking me to hear his concerns/feelings after following his own chart three different times about expressing my feelings to others was, "Sure, I'll hear you out but first I'll need your copay" I felt rejected and unheard from a therapist I was paying to listen to me and help me grow but was told that I couldn't share anymore because I'd be "trauma dumping". It's not opening wounds for me due to them never closing and him knowing this and my timid trust in reaching out for help, which he was told multiple times by me throughout almost four sessions already. I know I have a lot to work through but it's difficult to grow and get better when the therapist you reach out to stomps on your face and feelings or tells you what you can or cannot talk about during your own therapy sessions. I'm honestly not sure if I'm going to keep seeking out help anymore. It's really discouraging to be stomped on especially when you tell the therapist how fragile and scared you are to reach out for help.

My insurance covered a portion of the treatment, so the cost was very reasonable, and on treatment days, the only out-of-pocket expense I had was my co-pay. I'm not someone who exaggerates or adds drama to situations, but I can honestly say that this place and these ketamine treatments have saved my life. As I write this review, I haven't even completed treatment yet, and already the weight on my heart, the sadness, and the desperation have started to fade. I lost myself for a very long time, and the care I've received here has done more for me than six years of therapy and countless medications ever did. If you've been considering this type of treatment at Compassionate Psychiatric Services, let this be your sign to make the call and schedule an evaluation. It's hard for me to fully accept how much progress I've made in just one month. Part of me still worries it won't last, because nothing else ever has before. But this feels different. This treatment feels different. I truly could not recommend this facility or these treatments more highly. Give them a call. You're worth it, and this place proves that healing is possible.
