I am from the jersey area and we have point pleasant beach & boardwalk, ashbury, wildwood, Seaside heights, and ofcourse Atlantic city... so might be I was expecting it more - so it was just okay for me. After 2 blocks, I was like where is the rest of the boardwalk? But then it was all Promenade. The Boardwalk starts at the 14th Avenue North pier and winds down through Plyler Park to the 2nd Avenue Pier. There are also several arcades located on the boardwalk, such as Family Kingdom Amusement Park. Myrtle Beach Boardwalk & Promenade is not your average boardwalk. Instead of just a straight wooden street meandering along the oceanfront, you'll find separate sections with their own character, just waiting to immerse you in coastal fun.

The park was clean and easy to navigate. The beach is absolutely stunning! I love that there were pavilions close to the beach as well as a park! The shower house was clean and easy to access. Public access entryways are located about every half mile or so and can be found all the way down until the inlet ends. Only the main pier access has parking and a shower head and spicket to rinse the sand away. The rest are just entryways. Parking can be quite difficult at times so be patient. The public access stair rails are well taken care of and help protect the dunes. The sand from the dunes is further back and has overtaken some of the walkways so be careful when you are trying to access the beach. The further south you go from the pier, the more beach space you will have for your group or to engage in an activity like spikeball, baseball, frisbee, etc. The sand is very nice and makes for great sand castles. We've spotted dolphins and fish from time to time. There are no lifeguards but the local law enforment does patrol to ensure attendees are behaving.

Get rid of the beach service and chair/umbrella rentals. They set up so close together that those…read morethat don't rent have trouble getting access to the beach. We tried setting up at 6 am to get a spot and the jerk actually went out of line in front of us and put to sets of umbrellas with 4 chairs each up so we couldn't walk to the beach without walking at least 30 yard out of our way on either side. Best part - nobody had reservations on them; they were for rent. And we're not rented all day.

It is a 4 mile stretch of beach w limited public access along main road. At the south end is a larger public access w 2 port John's, this access is close to the point good for fishing or seashell picking. It is a short ride to main Hwy that leads to Garden City or Myrtle Beach 30-45 mins depending on traffic if need more action. There are no sidewalks on road but most people are good about giving pedestrians room. There is a pier but only accessible if resident of the Pawley pier Village condos. Local police, two inns one w restaurant, some full time residents. Nice family location.

In the off season, it's quite but there is still plenty of beach relaxing to be done. There is no overnight street parking. And please keep off the dunes. They are a protected space! You can board the boat up to 90mins prior to leaving which they refer to as happy hour- however, do not be misled as there is no happy hour although you can order when you board. You will also have assigned seat. The seating is very close together and not that comfortable. The first experience in October wasn't as crowded and was a little cooler so I'd advise to bring extra layers because of the wind and since it will be dark on way back. The drinks were not strong at all and I could not taste any liquor. We were also seated on opposite side that did not face sunset although you get the view regardless, it was crowded trying to get any pictures. We wanted to return in the summer for the experience and it was crowded, however, I'd say we lucked out with seats at the end which is most ideal because as I said, they are so close together. Again, drinks were not that strong.. I am always drawn to order the mixed drinks but end of saying I should have gotten wine or beer as at least I know whats in it. It's definitely for tourists but it's be nice if they changed things up, particularly with the music, it's a bit cheesy and repetitive.. and it was the same in October and August. The ride is actually long and I even feel it could be cut shorter if it was more comfortable and spacious experience.
